Hello, Stamplings!
~~~
Speaking of sorry, I'm sorry that the angle of the dangle doesn't really show the textured panel on my card cuz it kinda looks like elephant skin. This sad and sorry Ellie is NBUS from Katzelkraft. I just drew the sun in the corner to add some extra interest and maintain the "rule of threes" to balance out the scene. You know, like I know what I'm talking about.
I used watercolor pencils for this one, just to be different. My corner chomper chomped one corner. Ellie was liberally Winked. I'm sorry you can't see it.
I'm also sorry to say splatters weren't originally part of the design. What happened was Hammy sneezed with a snootful of pomegranate juice. You should've seen it before I blotted it with a tissue. It looked like a crime scene. If I hadn't blotted it, you would've thought Ellie was sorry for the fact that she just murdered her cousin Eugenia after Eugenia got into Ellie's secret stash of bamboo leaves even though she looked Ellie straight in the eyes and promised she wouldn't go around behind the shed.
I'm entering this in the current CASology challenge: Sorry. I mean, I'm not sorry I'm entering; "sorry" is the cue card this week.
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
I hope this finds you well. My thoughts and prayers are with my friends in the UK in the wake of Hurricane Ophelia. I hope everyone is okay.
I want to apologize for not being around to visit you as much as I'd like. I seem to be having an allergic reaction to the smoke in the air from the fires or from something blooming which is making my eyes watery and painful. It makes squinting at the computer no fun. We are miles from the areas that are still burning, so I can't even imagine what it must be like for those who are right in the thick of it.
I am still making cards however, in between resting with a cool wodka-soaked washcloth over my eyes. (Don't be silly. I wouldn't waste wodka like that.)
Oopzees, I seemed to have dropped an ornament in my drinkie poo. On a watercolor card base, I heat-embossed this fun image from Stamping Bella in gold and painted it with my Ziggies. The delish beverage is properly Winked. The NBUS gold-embossed sediment is from Sunny Studio stamps. The border paper next to the strip of glossy gold is also glossy. The pink finish has a gold-embossed pattern. Definitely a card for the supper club set.
Love both of your cards. Elephant is adorable. And coctail...I would be happy to join on party.
ReplyDeleteMarjeta
Gorgeous cards and a sun post - love that elephant stamp and how you've used it. And the story you've woven around it.
ReplyDeleteHope the fires are soon out and your eyes begin to recover.
Jane
Gorgeus grads Darnell! Love the elephant.
ReplyDeleteWish you a nice day.
Valerija xx
Thanks for your kind thoughts re Ophelia, you have enough to worry about with the fires it seems. We are fine here, even the trees are holing onto their leaves. OH went around the hedges checking the morning after fearing the worst but it was just a case of retrieving the odd empty feed bucket and plant pot from the fence line!
ReplyDeleteLove the pink ornament in the glass, reminds me of an oversized olive.
Look after those eyes. :)
Two gorgeous cards Darnell I love them both especially the bauble in the drink. Everything is fine in the south of the UK with Ireland, Wales, the North of England and Scotland being effected by Ophelia. Hope the smoke clears for you soon and your eye recover.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Cute cards. Especially the elephant. I'm kinda glad Hammy had a snootful and sneezed as I think it looks great. The ornament in the glass is very pretty with the gold embossing.
ReplyDeleteI hope your eyes feel better soon. Today would be good. [Bunny]
Your first card is gorgeous!! and love your second card
ReplyDeletePerhaps you should wait to drink after the decorating is finished! Whoo hoo. This card is just too cute. I love the touch of gold and "joy" seems like the perfect sentiment. Ellie is adorable and so remorseful. This card would make anyone laugh and be forgiving.
ReplyDeleteYou never fail to make me smile with your posts... Sorry that you are having eye trouble and I hope you get better really soon! We kind of dodged Ophelia, though the winds were very strong and the sky had the wierdest hue... something about the sand in the sahara being blown across so the weather people say. Loving your cards! That elephant could be me trying to get up off the floor after the exercises I have to do 4 times a day! Lol!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Love the cards, especially the I'm Sorry one.
ReplyDeleteHope your eyes soon ease. Sue
The ornament card is fabulous. Love gold and pink together. And the "sorry" card is a hoot. I love that elephant.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised that you, and lots of other people I'm sure, are having trouble with reactions to the smoke Darnell. I just hope that this terrible situation is under control soon! I adore your two wonderful designs and I think your bauble cocktail is do pretty, and then your cute and fun eli with the happy accident spattering and the sun in the corner makes your rule of threes just perfect. x
ReplyDeleteTwo really goegeous cards Darnell, LOVE that super nelliphant. Hope your eyes get better soon and in the meantime I'm surprised Hammy has hunted down a pair of swimming goggles or a snorkling mask for you.... the little guy must be slacking! Hope you got my email, things are improving daily here. Take care xx
ReplyDeleteThe christmascard is a beauty; didn't think those colours would work so well for x-mas... And your sorry card made me smile... Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I love this Darnell! The gold embossing is just gorgeous, and an ornament in a martini glass? Now that's festive! Hugs and prayers to you, I hope the end of these fires is around the corner.
ReplyDeleteHi there just popping in to share a cocktail with you...you drank it all?..shame on you!...is that why the elephant was not dangling right and whats all this w....... about (winking). you really do make me smile. Just hit by bad winds (nothing personal) here in the North luckily. hope you are rid of your fire smoke soon. we have had the weirdest sky's here...apparently due to the Sahara desert trying to relocate! Love your cards by the way! :) xx
ReplyDeleteYour eleflat is fun and your drinky card is very elegant. Chin chin. Hugz
ReplyDeleteThe cocktail glass with the bauble in it is so unique, creative and such fun...great cause too x Now that elephant truly looks like he is sorry and the splats are glorious x
ReplyDeleteHope your eyes get better soon...not pleasant for you x
ReplyDeleteThey are both so beautiful!! I love the ornament in the cocktail!! The little elephant is adorable!! I hope your eyes get better soon. Have a great day!! Big hugs :)
A Mermaid's Crafts
I know my husband in the other room wonders what could possibly be so funny about a stamping blog that would make me sputter and spew and guffaw. There's nothing funny about your eye irritation or Hurricane Ophelia, however, and I'm sorry about that. So much going on in the world. Craziness everywhere! Your cards are just what a person needs for relief. They're brilliant and your stories are delightful!
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I know what you mean about burning eyes...mine are too, plus some scummy film seemed to be covering them. Fortunately, it seems to be better today, probably because it's supposed to rain. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteBack to the cards. If it were me, you'd see me sucking all the vodka off that ornament...however, it looks so much better in the glass. I'll bet this is a winner. Your crime scene "Sorry" card is delightful. That has to be one of my favorite images, ever. Ellie appears to be so despondent and miserable...she must have done something really awful.
Fun cards! Hoping your eyes are feeling better sooN!
ReplyDeleteThe storms were not as bad as anticipated (although Southern Ireland did get hit hard in places). Apart from a collapsed fence and a few blown over garden pots we escaped lightly I think. We have another storm heading here for the weekend, so we wait and see...
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your eyes, I hope that resting them and the odd vodka help!! Love your card, the bauble looks beautiful inside the pretty glass! Take care my friend... Hugs, Annie xxx
Smoke can travel for a long way Darnell and l suppose it will be in the air for some time too l hope your not still suffering .......both your cards are just so cute l love the elephant l like the shape of the card to and your first card is beautiful l love how the outline and what a good reason to celebrate breast cancer with this card we celebrate it tomorrow l will be wearing pink take care sending lots of love xx
ReplyDeleteFab ornament, Darnell - just love the martini glass (I have the golf one)!! So gorgeous in the pink & gold! Darling Ellie on card 2 also!!
ReplyDeleteNothing worse than sore eyes, you poor thing. Hope whatever is causing it soon leaves you alone!! Two great cards, I am particulary taken by the martini glass and it's bauble!! xx
ReplyDeleteWell, I love both of these cards. Viewing them gives me a smile as you always inject humor into the designs and your post. So sorry you have sore eyes. I hope that soon you will be seeing clearly once again without the watering and irritation!
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards, great images and designs, especially love the touch of the one rounded corner.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that you have been suffering, hope that has eased off now.
Kath x
Hope you are feeling lots better by now especially after downing the leftovers of the bottle of vodka! Perfect pink cocktail. Poor Elli Looks like she drank the vodka! The tiny dots on your card just look like they are supposed to be there. Maybe Hammy had more than just juice? Love both cards. Certainly made me smile and made my day (still in my pj's here) Oh it IS early morning here! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty little holiday card ... so glad you joined us as we celebrate a ♥Pink Christmas for the Cure!♥
ReplyDeleteTwo super cards, Darnell. The cocktail card is so classy and I love the adorable elephant.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you are suffering from an allergic reaction. Hope it clears up soon. xx
That elephant is so cute - really tugs at the heart strings! Two great cards!
ReplyDeleteLove the gorgeous pink ornament with the gold. Thanks for joining us at Merry Monday.
ReplyDeleteAlso, hope your eyes are better real soon.
Don't know which I enjoyed more: your fabulous martini or your flat out sorrowful elephant. Great job, Darnell, despite the eye irritation. I almost feel guilty about the lovely fall weather we've been having, but not quite. Mostly I'm grateful, considering the devastation in so much of the world.Take care,my friend.
ReplyDeleteLove the fancy ornament in the martini glass!! What a elegant card Darnell. And then you've thrown us the fun!! Poor lil' ellie all flat and sad!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards! The cocktail is gorgeous and I love that elephant.
ReplyDeleteAwww....what a cute but sad elephant Darnell! The splatters are a great touch! Glad to see you at CASology this week.
ReplyDeleteI hope that pretty ornament is made out of ice so that the cocktail is actually drinkable! Love. that gold embossing - very festive. Your Ellie story made me laugh out loud...and appreciate your "Sorry" card even more. Your card's not "sorry." I'm sorry if you thought I meant that. You know what I mean, right? If not, I'm sorry. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a luscious wodka card- the ornament and gold embossing with that beautiful pick- LOVE!!! And your poor sweet elephant- so cute I would go insanely crazy there- such bad allergies. Hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteHahahaha - LUV the welliefant and your write up. Sorry to hear about your eyes though - that's a bummer. I hope you can clear them up soon xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your allergy! Hope that you get well soon!!
ReplyDeleteLovely sparkling card, that Christmas drink looks so yummy and sweet! :D Great card! And the elephant on the second one makes me laugh!
LOVE that Stamping Bella image - huge fan of their quirkiness and I can see it's been liberally winked. I'm so sorry (like Ellie who looks like me after an argument with the kids or hubby) about your eyes. I had a migraine for a week last week and decided it was high time to go to the optician and get my eyes tested. Glasses were prescribed for driving and occasional use as they are struggling to focus as once they use different to. The girls think it's very funny! Hope they clear up soon. Xx
ReplyDeleteI can understand your ploblems with the poluted air. I have heard about.
ReplyDeleteAnd now about the cards.:-) Great motiv on the first card, perfectly embossed and coloured. I like the super funny scene on the second card. And also the background. Hammy sneezed in right moment. :-)))
Hugs,
Sonja
Two fabulous cards Darnell, I particularly love the embossed bauble in the cocktail glass!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun pair of cards! Love that schparkly ornament in the drinkipoo - how festive and fun! And then there's the sullen looking elephant who obviously was overlooked when handing out the cocktails! Poor guy, he really is down in the dumps even with that bright sunshine! Cute!! Take care of those eyes in all of that smoke - I'm feeling awful for so many who lost everything they owned in those fires :(
ReplyDeleteYou always make me smile and laugh, Darnell! The ornament in the martini glass is so clever. And the droopy elephant looks soooo sorry! It's just perfect.
ReplyDeleteHey Darnell!! I saw your gorgeous Elephant card in the CASology gallery, so dropped by to say how much I love him, he looks so sorry! Cx
ReplyDeleteQuestion? Did the wodka change the color of that beautiful bauble from red to pink? Decorating with wodka sounds like a plan! And Ellie looks sorry until I look at her eye! She's still fuming so watch out! xoxo
ReplyDeleteHey Darnell...love your sparkly and gold embossed ornament card...very pretty! And your sorry elephant card had me cracking up...thanks for another morning chuckle! Thanks so much for sharing with us at Merry Monday!! :0)
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredibly fun and adorable ♥PINK CHRISTMAS♥ card! Thanks very much for helping us raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Fund at JINGLE BELLES! ♥
ReplyDeleteLove your opulent drinkipoo with the bauble for decoration! The elephant card Is just darling! An adorable image! Your post had me laughing out loud, you are soooooo funny my friend! Such a talented writer! I hope your eyes get better soon, how nasty for you! And here I am typing loads so you have to read it! So sorry! Huge hugs. xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteYour ornament in the drink card is stupendous! Love all that glitzy gold! We had some rough days with smoke from your fires here in Colorado (yes it made it all the way here plus we had a few fires of our own). Couldn't even go outside! Hope you get some good weather to put those fires out. Take care and have a good day.
ReplyDeleteDonna
Two fabulous cards Darnell, the elephant card is so cute and the colours and design of the cocktail card are brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI hope your eyes feel better soon, Kate x
Darnell, that ornament in your drink is just too cute. Thanks for joining us this week at Merry Monday.
ReplyDeleteDarling cards Darnell. The gold embossing is just fabulous as can be! Your elephant is perfect for the challenge. HOpe you get some relief from the itchies, soon.
ReplyDeleteInnovative approach to Christmas decorations :-) The card is great, I like its modern design. And the second card with the elephant - wow !! I love this tired elephant, and you so beautifully splashed the background with pomegranate juice ... I did not know it was possible, but the effect is amazing :-))
ReplyDeleteHugs,
BożenA
Such fun and fabulous cards!
ReplyDeleteOhhh!! Two perfectly gorgeous CAS cards Darnell!! And that elephant is adorable 😍 Love it!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at CASology!! Anna xo
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your stingy, watery eyes Dolly! It sure hasn't stopped you from making fabulous cards. LOVE the elegant Christmas card in pink and gold. Gorgeous ornament ... love it in the martini glass, although there's not much room left for the drink. :)
ReplyDeleteHow cute is the sorry card. The recipient is sure to forgive after seeing Ellie's sad face. :) Great work on both cards, my friend.
Hope you're eyes clear up soon. Lolly xx
Oh Darnell thank you, thank you, thank you, for the giggle over the nellifants and their antics - it's a fun and fabulous card, as is the the drinks one - are you sure you hadn't consumed a wodka or two before you rote this blog post??
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
Love your cards, especially the gold embossed ornament in the martini glass :) We are very happy to be 'home'. Talk soon, big hugs xx ps.. sorry about your eyes and the awful smoke. I feel very sad for a lot of people that are suffering with loss of homes because of fires or hurricanes.
ReplyDeleteTwo very fun card! Love them!
ReplyDeleteThe bauble in the drink is wonderful with all it gold shininess, Darnell. I don't know how many times I've thought about getting that Katzelkraft set and resisted. That little Ellie is so sad and I'm sure she's sorry that Hammy almost ruined her card.
ReplyDeleteHahahaah!! Always a giggle reading your posts! Love all that beautiful gold in your first card, looks stunning with the ziggy colours. And Hammy sneezing over the second card is enough to make any elephant sad indeed. He really is a naughty little hamster... hope your eyes feel better soon Darnell. Can't be much fun for you even with a wodka soaked washcloth on them. Hugs, Lisa xx
ReplyDeleteLuscious pink and gold glamour and glitz, Darnell ... the perfect card for a little black dress wearer! Good to hear Ellie and Eugenia didn't fall out over the bamboo ... p'raps Eugenia can come round with some wodka and cheer up Ellie ... she seems so in the doldrums! Hope you're keeping those eyes rested and cool, my friend ... and that they're eased a little by now. LYAMYMASTBSLCB! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear that your eyes are giving you trouble...hopefully you'll get some relief now that you're getting some rain :)
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING the gorgeous gold with your beautiful pink watercoloring on your first card, Darnell...WOW! So classy, and your border paper is perfect! Your Ellie card is so cute, too...I love how you added texture with your splatters and your sun really IS the perfect balance! Thanks so much for sharing the story about poor Eugenia...you are too funny, which is why it's always fun to visit your blog :)
Oh Darnell! You and Hammie do make me laugh. Loving the cards. Hope your eyes are settling down by now x
ReplyDeleteWell, I just about snorted my drink over my computer reading about Ellie and Eugenia!! :D Glad the sneeze occurred because I really like the splatter effect. And I love Ellie. She is high on my wish list - she's just out of stock every time I go looking for her. I will capture her one of these days though!
ReplyDeleteI can always count on your blogposts to make me giggle! From not wasting vodka on medicinal purposes to poor Ellie who got snorted all over with pomegranate juice (are you sure it was not red wine?) - I know better than to drink while reading your posts!
ReplyDeleteFun cards, too!
Gorgeous cards, Darnell.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Em xoxo
Absolutely love that elephant! Perfect expression of our cue word this week. So happy you could join in the fun at CASology this week.
ReplyDeleteI could read your posts all day long, Darnell. Your wit is right up my alley! Love the little stories you make up to go with your cards...very entertaining, you are! This CASology card is so perfect...that is one sorry looking elephant! Deflated, for sure! Thanks for sharing your card (and your funny wit) with us at CASology!
ReplyDeleteI love both cards, but that elephant is just so adorably funny! Thanks for playing along with CASology this week!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS on your well-deserved win at CASology, Darnell! Way to go!!!
ReplyDeleteI called this one...maybe I should be a professional challenge winner picker. What do you think. A second career???? Congratulations. Awesome.
ReplyDeletePerfect choice for the win over at CASology. Loved this card the second I saw it! Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the CASology win---it was the perfect choice for the prompt! That elephant is the cutest.
ReplyDeleteI must tell you that your creative juices have certainly been flowing. All your cards are different than the other. I really like the watercolor card.
ReplyDeleteB
That flattened elephant is one of my favorites! Hurrah on your CASology win! Well deserved!!! I almost used him for my entry. Glad now I didn't...
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteSo sorry your eyes are playing up. Stay indoors wearing swimming goggles and drinking copious amounts of alcohol......or is that what's called Friday night in the Knauss household lol?
Super twofer (isn't that an ABBA song?)
Ang x
Wonderful cards, Darnell. Can't think of a better way to display that pretty bauble. And that elephant ... too darn funny!
ReplyDeleteStingy, watery eyes do not sound like fun; hopefully, this has alleviated by now. We've not had rain (indeed, fires are still appearing in our vicinity) but winds...wild, crazy, 60+ mph winds! My poor little trees (yes....new trees! 6 babies to tend for). Your gorgeous ornament-in-the-martini-glass card! Pink/gold...swoon! I'd be swooning in a different way if I drank a martini...Your deflated Ellie...oh my! Adorable; one of the best 'sorry' expressions ever! Apology guaranteed to be accepted!
ReplyDeleteHugs and love~c
Two fabulous cards - don't know I've ever seen one like that first one. What a great image and even better when produced in pinks! And that ellie is also quite the image. I see the texture on the gray panel, very cool. Hope you're feeling better by now. Can't even imagine the devastation in the fire area...
ReplyDelete
