Hello, Stamplings!
It was sad to see the Olympics ending. They are phenomenal athletes and I'm so relieved that everything went off without a hitch!
Every time I sat at the computer and posted a heart card this month, I would turn to Hammy and point to the sign hanging over the hot tub in his cage. It says, "Don't forget Christmas!" But what have we been doing these last few weeks? That's right, eating candy hearts and chocolate and forgetting about Christmas! Naughty.
So we're doing some simple Christmas today.
Bowzer looks so Christmas-y in his bow! Except for the bow, this is a one-layer card using an old wooden stamp from Stamp Gallery. I don't know who makes the cool whimsical Christmas tree. The sediment is from Penny Black and the oval shadow is from PTI.
Challenges
Challenges
- ABC Christmas: C is for clean.
- As You Like It: Your favorite way to use a sediment and why. I love stamping my sentiment directly to the card front. Prior to the MISTI I could always cover any boo-boo with a sentiment panel; now I can more confidently stamp right to the card front.
Merry Monday Christmas Card: Photo inspiration.- Rudolph Days February 2018: AG Christmas.
This one is a one-layer Christmas card. I just love that bowed bone that comes in the Katzelkraft dog set (as does the dog). The wall texture is a NBUS "Scritch Scratch" stamp from Technique Tuesday and the NBUS sediment is from Lawn Fawn's "Winter Gifts."
- CAS on Friday: One-layer wonder.
- Crafty Animals: Anything goes.
- Lost Coast Portal to Creativity: More than two legs.
- Mix It Up: Clean and simple.
I didn't have a very good time at the dentist's office last Thursday. Not that anyone does. My dentist, who is very sweet, accidentally shot a nerve in my cheek. Usually I can tell when that happens, but not this time. When I got home and the Novocain wore off, I developed a large hematoma in my cheek, migraines up in my head, and a resulting bruise that looks like I got hit in the side of the mouth with a car.
But I'll be fine. These things happen. I'm sorry this has meant I haven't been doing much visiting. Thank you for understanding. I have two appointments to go to today and tomorrow which means everyone will be staring at me in the waiting rooms. The Mister refuses to go wait with me for fear of being arrested and I don't blame him!

Well, shoot, I can't leave you cringing, so I have a funny for you:
I think that tattoo karacks me up more than anything! Even more than men in tights! 😊😊😊

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

Hi Darnell
ReplyDeleteyou posted great cards
love the dogs.
Have a great new week
hugs Tamara
Loving your dog cards. They are so cute and fun!
ReplyDeleteI thought the round half circular mat was part of the dog stamp Brilliant idea to use it there.
Thanks for taking part in the February Rudolph Days Challenge.
PS MAde a twofer card and went to link up at the last minute and realized I forgot about the time change! Sorry. Will post it in
the next few days anyways. Wasn't quite sure it qualified as I stamped the same stamp twice but fussy cut up the socond stamping and only used some of the elements of the stamp on the second card...
Ouch Darnell, sorry about the dentist. Hope your face is happier soon - in the meantime, just tell people you're practising for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteLove the cards, and agree about the Misti meaning stamping directly onto the card is so much easier. I wonder if it's going to take the terror out of one layer cards?
Ouch,I was also at the dentist on Thursday, but only for a hygienist appointment following the all clear from the dentist! I can so relate to that visit to the dentist. When I broke my tooth this summer, the dentist had 5 goes with the novocaine injections as they weren't taking effect quickly enough.
ReplyDeleteTwo fab cards by the way. We are hunkering down ready for a blast from Siberia and blizzard conditions. So far it's cold but sunny. It could be that it's all happening down south and they are panicking, we shall wait and see if the accumulations of the white stuff will be as deep as they say. Feel sorry for the new lambs if it comes. :)
Two great dog cards - fab designs just love them both. I hope you are feeling better now after the dentist.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, OUCH! Hope your bruise soon goes.
ReplyDeleteThe cards are great. I particularly like the second one.
Hope you have a good start to the week. Sue
Hi Darnell,
ReplyDeleteHappy Rudolf Days.
what brilliant cards and their stamped images are so super.
I think my fave is the first and I love that half of a Christmas tree also.
Sorry to hear about your face not a nice thing to have happen.
Hope it soon gets better.
Thank you for joining the Rudolf Challenge.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L. with my DT hat on.
Two fabulous doggy cards, especially the well trained feller begging nicely for his treat - or maybe he's just wondering if he can make it up there in one leap?
ReplyDeleteOuch, I hope your next visit to the dentist goes off without any more problems xx
Pretty cards!! Sorry to hear about your dentist experience!! Hope everything turns out good for you. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you have been having a bit of a rough time since your visit to the dentist Darnell and hope the bruise soon fades. These two doggie images are really cute and fun with their large red bows, and the heart shaped one on the bone really makes me smile, and I adore the flourish tree with the pretty red baubles too. x
ReplyDeleteThese are terrific Christmas cards! I especially like that cute little pup on the second one. So SORRY about the aftermath of your dental visit, that's no fun. If anyone asks at your appointment just tell them "You should see the other guy"!!
ReplyDeleteI love that wispy tree on your first card, and that pup and bone on the second are just fantastic. So sorry to hear about your dentists misplaced shot. Hope the bruise fades fast and that you survive the stares.
ReplyDeleteDear Darnell, you can explain bad things in a funny way. I like it! :-) I can understand, that Mister don't want to go with you. :-)) I hope, everything will turn to good!
ReplyDeleteAnd there are also two super cute christmas cards in your post that I like. :-)) Sweet gift on the second one.
Have a nice week!
Hugs,
Sonja
Two great cards! Love how you always add such special touches with your extra details. Sorry about your experience at the dentist's office! Now I know another reason why I am so afraid to go to the dentist!
ReplyDeleteThese are both so sweet and beautiful!! I love the precious pups!! Oh gosh, I hope you feel much better from your trip to the dentist. Ouch!! I laughed out loud that your hubby refuses to go with you for fear of being arrested!! Have a great day!! Big hugs :)
ReplyDeleteLisa
A Mermaid's Crafts
These are both cool cards. Love the second cute doggy and that tree in the first. Hope your dental challenges are resolved soon. Maybe you need to borrow hammy's hot tub. Hugz
ReplyDeleteOh goodness Auntie, I'm sorry you had a hard time at the dentist!!! I've never heard of that happening before....now the dentist scares me even more. lol You poor thing. I had a black eye as I knocked a 3 lb tub of peanut butter off the shelf and of course it had to hit me square in the eye. Yep, sported that shiner for a long, long time! Don't blame the Mister for not wanting to go with you for fear of being arrested-Dwayne told every one I wasn't listening and he had to set me straight. lol Love both of these adorable doggy cards! That is one cool Christmas tree and beautiful dog stamp on your first card. Love it! Your second card is just too cute as is the dog! That's about how it used to look here when Pockets was still alive, but with Savannah-heck she doesn't even have to get up on her hind legs to reach the table top! lol Cute cards! Take care of that bruise and I hope it goes away fast!!! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteI love any card with dogs and these are adorable. The bone with the bow is so cute. Molly would have been all over that!Oh, your poor cheek and migraines are no fun. Take care of yourself first. I did laugh at that cartoon and you're right, the tattoo is a hoot.
ReplyDeleteYay you for getting some Christmas cards done! I sure love the whimsical Christmas tree on your first card, and, oh, my gosh, your second card totally has my heart! I could give that one to our next door neighbors as I always include their dog when delivering Christmas goodies. Adorable! Not feeling too adorable, yourself, Darnell? I'm sorry! At least your sense of humor is still intact. Your funny is too funny and so true!
ReplyDeleteLoved the "toon"!!! Spelling really does matter. Cute!
ReplyDeleteAlso love those doggie cards. Precious!
Yikes on the cheeky business. I know that couldn't have felt really good - and I bet he didn't even give you a prize for being a good patient did he?!
lynn
Very cute doggie duos. The first fella looks like he's waiting for Christmas to arrive, and he's being a very good boy about it too. Love the shadow you've given him. Sweet tree and a very festive bow tie. I have to say that your scritch scratch stamp is way cool. I do love the green you've used for it. And the little pup is adorable! A little less patient than Bowzer, lol. Great one layer card. And a big good on you for jumping right into the Christmas card mode! Hope that your appointments go well, and that the pain has subsided by now. You poor little thing, you! Hope the dentist has apologized profusely too! You might need extra chocolate this week. Missing you. xoxo Bev
ReplyDeleteTwo sweet dog cards Sis! so sorry about the shot in the cheek! yikes never heard of a dentist doing that??!! I had one 2 hr appt for a root canal last week and the 2nd 2 hour one to finish it (me) off is Thurs! It's not painful -just a long time sitting with your jaw wide open!
ReplyDeleteCute, fun and practical for postage, all criterias I appreciate for Christmas cards. These are nothing like the cards you’d find in a store, their design is unique and also perfect for a dog lover.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I've always enjoyed men in tights and that tattoo...well, just imagine him in tights. Anyway, back to the cards. As you know, I love dogs so this twofer is right up my proverbial alley. Both cards are great for an animal lover...like me!
ReplyDeleteCan you sue a dentist??? Probably not, but man that pain you went through must have been terrible. So sorry you had it...and tell the Mister, I too, fully understand why he won't accomapany you to your appointments.
Love that you used the Katzelkraft dog stamp and bone for your card! Those are some of my favorite stamps at Lost Coast Designs. It's a really cute card and very well done. Thanks for joining the LCD Portal to Creativity "More Than Two Legs" challenge!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your unfortunate trip to the dentist x Love the two dog themed Christmas cards and Bowzer looks so proud with his smart red bow x
ReplyDeleteOoooh both cards are gorgeous ............loving the cartoon and so sorry to hear of your experience with the dentist hope your feeling better with it now take care x
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas cards are delicious, the first is very elegant and classy, and the second one is so fun!!!! Anyone would receive a gift as that on the table :D LOL Such cute doggie!
ReplyDeleteSorry for your hematoma on nerve and face! :( Hope you get well soon!
Hugs
well done on starting your Christmas cards, they are adorable xx
ReplyDeleteBowser is looking rather handsome in his bright red festive bow tie, Darnell ... it's to be hoped he's as calm as he looks, otherwise there'll be some damage to that lovely delicate tree! Cute pup with his special gift ... those Katzelkraft critters are so much fun ... and you've made him shine here! Ouch again about your dentist incident ... hope today went smoothly (or will do) ... thinking of you, my friend! LYAMYMA ... FBVS! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous Christmas cards Darnell! Hope the cheek is smiling soon. Pssst....isn't that what pancake makeup is for? ;) I'm off to try painting with my ai's. Have a slendiferous week! Hugs
ReplyDeleteLove your cute and fun dog Christmas cards.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for your incident at the dentist office but glad you are doing better. Have a wonderful week.
I love the first card, the dog (looks like Duke only lighter) looks like it is waiting for a lovely surprise and the second card is just adorable, what a lovely little scene! They are both great cards!
ReplyDeleteI am still cringing about your mouth, I really do hope it heals soon and the migraines go away pronto!! Take care my lovely friend, thinking of you!! Hugs, Annie xxx
Gosh I feel for you, nothing worse than any pain connected with the teeth.
ReplyDeleteLove that stamp on the first card and Bowzer looks like he has made himself at home.
Super second card the little doggy is really cute and looks like he will really love the gift.
Good luck with the appointments.
Kath x
Fun, sweet card Darnell. Hope your feeling much better. Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteToo funny end to your newsy blog. Do take care...we all love you and hate to see you hurting. As for the dog cards...love them. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh, so sorry! I never was fond of going to the dentist and the best thing I ever did for me was to get all of my teeth pulled and get false ones. My teeth were rotten from a kid on up to adulthood. I don't hurt anymore now when I eat food. I am so glad though that you are feeling a bit better and able to turn out such cute cards as you did. I love the Christmas cards and their cheery designs. And thanks for the humor at the end. I got a good laugh from that.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, great cards! I love the bone with the ribbon and that cute dog, just like my house:)
ReplyDeleteI used to love going to the dentist. It was always an easy experience until 2 years ago. I had almost the same experience that you described, and it changed everything. Cleaning yes, work no! Hope you are feeling better, soon.
It's nice of you to feature our four-legged friends in your Christmas cards, Darnell. I love those Katzelkraft images too. Sorry about your bruised face.
ReplyDeleteWow Darnell! You’ve been through it! Sure hope you heal quickly and that it’s not too painful! Just adore your cute doggie cards! That 2nd dog is just so darn cute! And hey, you’re one card ahead of me for this year’s Christmas cards!! LOL! Hugs and prayers for healing!
ReplyDeleteNeedless to say, that as a dog lover, I think your two cards are terrific - especially the second one where the dog makes me think of my young pup, Tessa, with her long spaniel ears, her light brown and white colouring, and her habit of jumping up to check out what is on the kitchen counter or table!
ReplyDeleteYour doggy cards are awesome! I love the bowed up doggy bone, too. So sorry to hear of your travails resulting from a dental visit. Makes me a little hesitant about going to my own DDS tomorrow - he's replacing a crown. Convinced me the previous one wasn't doing the job. I didn't know they could hit a nerve when administering Novocaine. Sheesh. So glad you're on the mend.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having the fun I am at the dentist! Loads of appointments last week and more this week and every week for the next month or so...the joy! Still these sweet cards make up for this. I adore that sweet second card with the big red bow xx
ReplyDeleteOh what fabulous cards Darnell!! I love the stamps and terrific designs! I'm so sorry about your dentist visit... What a horrible thing to happen and believe me I know I about nerve pain... You poor lady. I hope it gets better soon... Thinking of you and sending hugs
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Darnell. So sorry you're in pain, but hope the other appointments went well xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry about your dental experience, Darnell. But I did laugh at your comment about your husband not going with you out of fear. You painted a hilarious picture. Love the dog Christmas cards. Feel better, my friend!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell. Love the card. I am always on the lookout for dog designs for my son and his wife. The scrolled tree is lovely. I couldn't agree more about the misti. I use my all the time instead of acrylic blocks now. Just doing a quick run through some Rudolph Day posts. It is a short month and I'll soon be too late Kate x
ReplyDeleteI can't bear to think of making a Christmas card - but I like your puppies.
ReplyDeleteMy last visit at PT and the assistant didn't understand me when I said I could not lift my leg, so she lifted it. On to next exercise and I could not put any weight on my right leg. Oh happy day! Now a week later I am still icing my knee and now my calf muscle and use the walker sometimes. But other than that everything is peachy. Rain! We have rain. Ginger the dog did not like the downpour last night so she did not go potty. Spoiled California dog. Prayers at the dentist. :) B
I love this duo of doggies!! It's great to see you at AYLI xx
ReplyDeleteThank gosh you are here to remind me that Christmas exists! Now can we go back to eating, drinking, drinking and drinking and forgetting about it for awhile longer now? I will say that I like your puppy cards though, very festive and frivolous... (spellcheck thinks I meant voluptuous, goodness!).
ReplyDeleteI have something for you. Probably I should mail as the last 5 months have shown that it isn't going to leave my desk unless I shoo it along.
Aww Darnell! You and your sore face :( I hope that the swelling goes down very soon and all is well again. I really do need a shove in the right direction to get my Christmas card going, but I struggle to do it this side of Easter. I love the dog with the bow though - he is such a festive looking chap. Thanks for the laugh though - spelling does matter!!! xx
ReplyDeleteOh Darnell, poor you, that must have been so painful, I'm cringing just reading about it. Hopefully things have cleared up now.
ReplyDeleteLove your doggies, they are so sweet, fabulous designs and colours too, take care Kate x
Oh goodness!! Such cute pup cards!!! Hmmm I think I need a sign that says "don't forget Christmas"!! Cool idea. Both of your cards are such fun! ON the second one I do love that Huge bow on the bone and I like the background stamp. REally cool!
ReplyDeleteDon't we all just love the dentist ..... not!! Hope you're feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteTwo fab cards by the way ..... love the little pooch with the bone.
Take care my friend xx
Oh! shucks! : ( I have never had that happen before. How dreadful!! I hope you are feeling 100% in no time.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are as cute as can be. I especially love the second one that pup is too sweet.
BIG (((Hugs)))
Patti
Awww...love the dog cards especially the second one. So sorry about your bad experience at the dentist, as they say "stuff (insert your own word) happens.
ReplyDeleteBruises will fade - but OUCH. Idon't blame our mister for staying at home.
Loving both doggie cards, but especially the 2nd one with the bow around the bone! SO cute! Sorry about your bad experience at the dentist - Poor Kevin, afraid to go with you LOL Spelling really does matter I see :)
ReplyDeletelove your dog cards, super cute and super CAS!
ReplyDeleteuf, so sorry about the dentist - I had a similar experience once and similar feelings ... I hope you are feeling better now.
big hug xx
Hi Darnell. Your cards are both so cute. Thanks for joining the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity challenge. Hugz
ReplyDeleteI hope today is a better day as far as your face is concerned. Your Christmas cards are both wonderful! You've got a bit of a theme with dogs and red bows, but such different cards. I'm impressed with the table on which the bone lies! I'll have to share that comic with my daughters - they will love it!
ReplyDeleteTwo awesome doggie Christmas cards Dolly! Especially love the expression on the dog's face in the second card.:) Hope all goes well with your appts. and you'll be feeling well soon! Take care. Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteAren't stamp positioners fabulous? Your cards are wonderful, brought a smile to my face. Thanks so much for joining us at As You Like It Challenge!
ReplyDeleteI love pooches of all sizes, and you have delivered 2 cuties! The first with the neck bow is so prim and proper that he looks like a Sphinx. The second although adorable, looks like he has a wee bit of a sneaky side. LOL! 2 great cards, Darnell. Yes, we must not forget Christmas. Life is so much simpler when we don't. Have a great rest of the week.
ReplyDeleteOh I love your cards Darnell, but how could you forget about Christmas, it's a good job Hammy is there to remind you! My sympathies about the dentist, I once had a black eye due to a badly aimed injection - I got quite a few funny looks for that one! Thanks for sharing your cards with us at Lost Coast Designs, and have a very happy week. Sue xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining the Lost Coast challenge for more than 2 legs. I like how you have the dog trying to get the bone on the table.
ReplyDeleteWow, I am so impressed that you made TWO cards with the sentiment stamped directly on the card front...and with adorable dogs no less. That first card looks like it has a textured card base, which makes stamping even more difficult so I'm sure the Misti was essential. These doggy Christmas cards just make my heart happy, so you're excused for getting a big behind on your Christmas crafting. I'm guessing those chocolate hearts fed the creative side of your brain and so it all comes out perfectly in the end.
ReplyDeleteOMG hun, dogs on any card and I go Aaaah how cute and both are so different too, the first one has the adorable look, while the second dog is more cheeky, love them both, Luv Sam x
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteThank goodness its a shadow under Bowzer rather than a puddle.
I can't think of Christmas before we have feasted on chocolate eggs lol!!!
Ouch with the cheek. The dentist would have a matching one next time I saw him.
Hope its better now.
Ang x
