Hello Stamplings!
I hope you all had a marvelous weekend celebrating Easter, Passover, and/or lots of relaxation and craftiness! And I hope you all had a joke pulled on you or you pulled a joke on someone in honor of yesterday's April Fool's Day! I missed not doing my Boo-Boo Hop this year, but it fell off my plate which was loaded with ham and smashed potatoes!
Today I'm joining in a wonderful blog hop for World Autism Awareness Day. Like cancer, the autism spectrum has touched my family and no doubt it has touched your family or friends, as well. Here is my card for the link-up:

Then what happened was, I happened to see the new Less Is More challenge. It is a Lucky Dip and the brief is to CASE (copy and share everything) a card made by my talented friend, Aileen of Colour and Sparkle. Here is her card:
Keeping with the blue theme, I CASEd her, thusly:
I finally played with my alcoholic inks on Yupo paper! I used sailboat blue, denim, and stonewashed dropped onto a piece of Yupo paper. After the paper was dry, I die cut this beautiful bloom from The Ton, and leaving it in place, I stamped the coordinating bloom in Archival Ink over the die.
I wanted to add white washing to make it look more like Aileen's pretty flower, but I was too scaredy-cat that I would wreck it, so I quit while I was a head. Not to mention, now that I mention it, the dark and brooding boldness is really striking just as it is. The NBUS sediment is from CAS-ual Fridays.

- Addicted to Stamps and More: Photo inspiration.
- Just Us Girls: Wild card: CAS.
- Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge: Anything goes.
And because Hammy was messing around with the leftover negative cut and a few extra stampings of the bloom, I realized that this looked rather fab, too!
Super QACAS! I think I'll send this to a friend who loves coloring! The bloom is inlaid into the opening. I'm entering this in Cards In Envy, where the brief is to use the negative die space!

Wonderful cards Darnell! I totally adore your alcholfrolic inks on Yupo flower card - stunning! We must be so sykick - I spent a happy time yesterday playing with Yupo and the alcofrolic inks I just bought last week! Ahem, my results need a lot more practice though!
ReplyDeleteRaining here today but I just got excused from the ironing as am making pasta and cauliflower cheese from scratch this evening - for which I need to be feeling backache free.Someone here prefers his food to ironed clothes :)
Hugs to you my friend! Your LIM entry has to be a winner for sure! and the Autism card is terrific.

Hi Darnell! I absolutely love your blue alcohol ink cards! The blue flower is just perfect! And what a great idea to use the leftover that way!
ReplyDeleteThe little bear with the “braver” sentiment is just adorable! He is a really cute bear! That sentiment is perfect for this and for so many others! Have a great Monday! Hugs!
I'm loving all of these! Your experimentation really played out well.
ReplyDeleteHave to tell you that our church does a special service every third Saturday for special-needs folks. It's delightful, and two of the young men who attend, Gavin and Austin, were confirmed just before Easter! Our church family has embraced so many in our community very warmly! Love the bear card you've made! The image is sweet, and I love the sentiment - it's perfect for this celebration. Those flowers, however, are just stunning. They are so beautiful in those blues. Your inking of the first, and the background of the second are really incredible. A trio of fabulous cards! Missing you. Bev
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Darnell. Love the bold blue colour and both turned out marvelous. The card with the bear is looking great too, love that message.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Miranda
Lovely cards! It looks like you had fun creating them, too!
ReplyDelete3 perfectly fab creations. I do so love the last that Hammy fooled with! More snow here, today. Hard to believe yesterday was Easter! Mother Nature is not happy on the east coast.
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter Monday sweet friend!! Love your cards and yeah for you getting out the alcohol inks and making this fabulous card...I think the colors landed just right for shading on your beautiful flower! And Hammy was really using his noodle to make that second card! *wink Have a wonderful week! Ours is starting out a bit cold...34 degrees outside right now and it was even snowing a few minutes ago!! Heart Hugs, Col
ReplyDeleteWas glad to see you playing along with the Autism Awareness Blog Hop Darnell, as having worked for The Gray Center (an Autism Resource Center started by Carol Gray, author of Social Stories for kids on the spectrum), I have a special place in my heart for all those that deal with Autism on a daily basis. Love your card too...perfect sentiment and cute, CUTE image!! And totally in LOVE with your Al ink cards...they are both BEAUTIFUL!! :0)
ReplyDeleteGreat experiments. I love the blue flower, on first view I thought you had painted it. On reading it was AI's it reminded me to pull out my AI's. Great card for Autism awareness.
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards, Darnell, and great sentiment!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards. Love that sentiment and perfect for the theme. The blue bloom is stunning. I made a card in 2015 for he Autism awareness hop but don't think I had seen it since. I will definitely be joining the fun. Hugz

ReplyDeleteThe first card looks delicious and that sentiment -oh my- is one of the most beautiful sentiment I have seen on a card! Really encouraging!!
Hugs!
Your flower cards look stunning. And the world autism day card is so adorable. I have a few sentiments designed like the one you used, I like how you ‘tied’ the blocks together using red shading, a clever trick I’ll keep in mind for use in the future...
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Loving your cards. Really like your flower cards and the first one is just fab. The wording is so apt.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good week. Sue
These are beautiful and I'm quite taken with the rich blue colors of that flower! I may need to invest in yupo paper and give this a try sometime because ALL of your cards turned out fabulous! Speaking of fabulous, I hope your Easter was exactly that, and thanks for that adorable card that makes me smile every time I walk by and have another look at it :)
ReplyDeleteI love your sweet bear and the wonderful sentiment for the Autism Awareness Day, and what fabulous blooms and the blue alcohol inks give a bold and beautiful finish to this beautiful flower Darnell, and the die cut piece works well with the plain stamped flower fitted back into it, such a great idea and a fantastic CASEing of Aileen's super card. Hope you had a good Easter too. x
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards Darnelle, I love the Autism awareness card with that fantastic sentiment. There is a big push on here in the UK to encourage more support in schools for children with Autism. I do wonder if that will happen, as any mental health condition is always way down the line as far as the government is concerned.
ReplyDeleteYour two floral cards are lovely, what fabulous blue shades too, thanks for your visit Darnell most appreciated, Kate x
Those cards are wonderful and perfect for this hop.
ReplyDeleteFantastic cards Darnell! The autism card would brighten anyone's day. What a great cause and blog hop. Beautiful alcohol cards, love the vibrant blue.

ReplyDeleteLove the cards you shared today. The blue theme is fabulous and so positive. Love the sentiment on your autism awareness card. Your alcohol inked cards are so pretty! Isn't it addicting to work with them, but in a good way? Thank you also for the beautiful card you sent me. I SO appreciate your thoughtfulness. I wanted to make cards, but this season of my life really messes with intention versus getting it done. I hope you understand. Thank you so very much for your friendship! Hugs!

Marilyn❤️
That blue is fabulous and in no need of further embellishment, Darnell. Using the leftover for the other card is brilliant in its execution. The sentiment with the darling bear is something everyone should take to heart.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's the awareness that makes autism seem more prevalent these days, but it has touched my friends' lives and, therefore, mine. Sad to think we just didn't understand in the past. Your first card says wonderful things and is cute while it's saying it. That rich alcoholic blue is gorgeously amazing. A person could just fall right into it.
ReplyDeleteLove all your cards in this post! The one with the negative for our challenge certainly is fab! Love the pretty blue color! Thanks for sharing with us at Cards in Envy.

ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! I think your first card is cute and I love the arrow pointing down. Love your bold blue peony and I think it works great just as you left it. The 3rd card is pretty with the blue behind it as a burst behind the flower
ReplyDeleteEach card sweet and amazing in every way! just like you Darnell!!
