Hello Stamplings!
I went to a bridal shower yesterday. It's been ages since I've been to one and I was curious what modern-day bridal showers were like. We had a balanced mix of ladies over the hill and ladies just starting the climb and I was delighted to discover that some traditions live on. We played a coupla games to get acquainted, told stories of how we knew the beloved couple, had a delicious lunch, and watched the bride open her pretty gifts. It was a terrific time celebrating young love!
I've got company for a few days, so I better zip my lip and share the super easy cards I have for you today!
I think this little number is more QACASier than any of my other QACAS (quick and clean and simple) cards over the years. What you see is a pink card base overlaid with a tent of designer floral acetate from SU. In order to attach the acetate to the card, I added glue under the flower centers and covered the gloo-schmoo with pearl embellies. Oh, before I did that, of course, I stamped the sediment.
I've had these beautiful printed acetate sheets for ages and it felt good to finally use some of them. Hammy was quick to point out that it was also quite, um, 'silly' to keep something for three years and then spend three minutes making a card with it! I have to admit, he does have a point. I'm pretty sure I can find a hat to cover it up.

You gotta love a die-cut only card! I went all out copper metallica for this shiny Christmas card. The double heat-embossed filigreed star is from Skipping Stones Designs and the NBUS JOY is from Concord & 9th. A little somethin-somethin more seemed to be needed, so I simply cut two thin strips of the copper paper and added them to the sides. As you can see from all the high gloss, this card was NOT a joy to photograph.
Challenges
- ABC Christmas: "J" for Joy, "K" for Keep it simple.
- HLS May Christmas: A/G, optional stars.
- Merry Monday Christmas: No stamping!
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

Two wonderful QACAS cards, Darnell. My favourite is the first one, how fabulous is that printed acetate! I've never heard a a bridal shower, guess they haven't hit the UK yet......or perhaps it's because I haven't been to a wedding for quite a while. 😉 The trend here is for the happy couple to ask for money or vouchers, so it wouldn't be very exciting watching the gifts being opened. LOL!! xx
ReplyDeleteHey friend, GREAT Christmas card for the Merry Monday Challenge where you couldn't stamp! Perfect card with just the right words and a delightful star to shine! thanks for joining us! Heart Hugs, col
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards, I would never have guessed there was acetate on the first one, you did a brilliant job photographing it! The second one is a delight, I love the beautiful star and 'JOY'in the beautiful coppery colour!
ReplyDeleteI have never been to a Shower so it was interesting to hear about the one you went to! I hope you have a lovely time with your visitors. Hugs, Annie xxx
Two beautiful CAS cards Darnell especially the top one.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Beautiful floral birthday card, Darnell! Love both of these CAS cards. Thanks for joining the Double D, "May Flowers" Challenge.
ReplyDeleteOooh, the flowers on the acetate are lovely. Very smart how you added the adhesive. I think the coppery color on the Christmas card is so pretty. Glad you had fun at the bridal shower. It's good to know that some traditions live on. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Marilyn❤
Gotta love QACAS, and your Merry Monday card definitely qualifies for that Darnell!! And all with no stamping and EXTREME SHINE...love it!! Thanks so much for sharing this beauty with us at Merry Monday...we love it when you play along!! :0)

Hi Darnell, I haven't been to a bridal shower for a few years, but they are always fun. Your cards are fantastic, love the christmas design with the gold die cuts perfectly arranged. Have a great Sunday, hugs xx
ReplyDeleteThe acetate card is so pretty and easy. I haven't heard of that from SU and it is really a great idea and it's a shame they don't have it anymore. Whoa, that copper is the bomb! Beautiful and such shine. What I love about your blog is learning not only stamping things but of other countries traditions. It is nice to learn from people in other places. I do like it when others share pieces of their lives. It's nice to get to "know" them.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous cards. My favorite is the first one, lovely color and beautiful design.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these lovely creations qualify for the QACAS technique. I must remember that. I am sure that I could use it. I really have trouble with acetate cards, but I love them. I guess you could say that I have a love/hate relationship. LOl
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing it with us at Double D Challenge May Flowers. It could be a winner.

How fun! I haven't been to a shower in many years either. I used to enjoy the games very much! Your two cards are beautiful! Lovely CAS style!
ReplyDeleteI thought I recognized the beautiful swirly floral pattern that was in the SU! Cottage Wall dsp from years gone by, but I never knew they had acetate that matched! What a gorgeous, CAS card! Sounds like the bridal shower was fun - almost as fun as the copper coated copper clad star card! Joe Friday, can you hear me? LOL Fabulous twofers today and enjoy your company :)
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous QACAS, Darnell!!! And the first one is so sweet!!! :) Great use of your acetate stash, and great covering of the glue under the flower centrers!
ReplyDeleteThe second one is so striking!
Hugs
We'll just call you the Mistress of QACASier. Both cards are striking...always love a CAS masterpiece and both fit the bill. Maybe that hat you find can entirely cover Hammy so you won't hear those snarky comments.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a bridal shower in a while, but baby showers are the same as ever, except for all the cell phones taking pictures. Hammy does have a point regarding the 3 years/3 minutes. Gosh, when you put it that way... kinda crazy, and I'm thinking I'd better get back to work in my stamp room. So easy and so pretty! Another Christmas card done, too! You're making good progress. I have a fondness for copper. Thanks for thinking of us at Double D with your flower card, Darnell!
ReplyDeleteYour pink card is delightful and definitely a quick make. Love the copper star too xx
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards, Darnell. Thanks for joining us this week at Merry Monday.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time at the shower.
ReplyDeleteThat acetate is fabulous and you rocked that card...make many! YOur die cut only also rocks, love that copper/rose gold look.
Beautiful cards Darnell! LOVE the gold on your JOY card! Thanks for playing with us at Merry Monday.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards Darnell, if you hadn't told that you used acetate on the first one then I never had noticed. Love the delicate swirl with little flowers. Your copper Christmascard looks very festive, beautiful embossed star.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Miranda
Hi Darnell, Loving the cards, especially the first one.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a lovely weekend. Sue
Quick and easy and clean and simple are the kind of cards I love. And, yours are so fantastic and beautiful! I love the beautiful floral design on the first acetate one and the second one is a wonderful Christmas card design with the pretty metallic star on it. ReplyDeleteI see that Hammy likes to tell it the way it is, but the thing about the hat escapes me!
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty acetate, Darnell. Who knew anybody made pretties like that?

Lovely cards Darnell, and each unique (like you). It has been a while since I went to a wedding shower. Gosh I think my granddaughter is probably close to that age to get married.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful acetate, Dolly! You sure made a beautiful card with it! I'm glad I'm not the only one that can hoard things so long! Glad you broke it out and that young brides haven't totally given up our old fashioned fun showers!
ReplyDeleteLove all that coppery goodness on your Christmas card! It's a shame our cameras hate all that gorgeous shine!
That's an overlay!?! WOW, very pretty and so is your fancy star on your JOY card! Enjoy your company!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, What a pretty floral card! Makes me wish I had a few of these acetate things in my stash. :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty card. I never would have guessed that the flowers are on acetate. Love the color. Thanks for joining the Stinkin' Inkers challenge.
ReplyDeleteThese cards are well and truly lovely, no matter how short a time they took to make. You certainly could have fooled me with the acetate covered-card. I thought you had stamped the image onto the cardstock. I love the die-cut card idea, too. A design like this can be set up to make assembly-line style. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful cards Darnell, love that sot pink number with the acetate over the top, looks so soft and feminine and the Christmas card so bold and gold, perfect. Thank you so much for joining us at The Flower Challenge and we hope to see you there again soon. Aileen DesignTeam
ReplyDeleteOh Darnell what fantabulous cards - love the delicate acetate over pink, Hammy was correct, you should have used it much sooner! The joy card just radiates joy - it's stunning
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
How lovely that you had some girlie fun! And two super cards! I thought you'd stamped the first one till I read it was acetate...Wow! Loving the thick embossed star on your second card... Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteTwo terrific cards. Love your acetate card. So very feminine. I like the rich colours of your second card.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, Darnell. Hope you've had a great weekend xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour embossed star is so pretyy!
ReplyDeleteYou come up with more things I've never seen before, Darnell, like designer acetate. Before you know it you will be bringing it back in style. Your copper card is so beautiful and you did a fabulous job photographing it and showing off its shine.
ReplyDeleteI’ve heard rumours about a glue made for use with acetate. Or was it vellum? Anyway, never found out more about itso I use your technique or stitching. Never seen an acetate as beautiful as this one though.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love them both, Darnell! The first one really calls to me, though:) QACAS - how could it be better? :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely pink and I would never had guessed you used acetate. And I love the copper star. You really captured the shine with your great photography.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your company--love your cards, Darnell! The second one is stunning!
ReplyDeleteYou have an amazing eye for QACAS, Darnell ... the coppery shimmer is delicious ... and how splendid is that delicately printed acetate over the pink? I spent ages studying that card trying to figure out how you did it ... duh ... should have read your post first!! Enjoy your company and all the comings and goings, my dear friend! LYAMYHMA ... BMF! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful CAS cards and so different too, Luv Sam x
ReplyDeleteI would never have realised it was an acetate fronted card Darnell... but how pretty is that acetate! Definitely should be got on a card and you know what, quick and clean and simple is fine. We live in the real world and there is not always hours free to spend. Also love the big JOY on your die cut card... don’t make me add it to my list please!! Lisa xx
ReplyDeleteYou can keep something for as long as you like and take however long it takes to use it. I just love that it is super duper Quick and easy. I have some SU paper that I bought recently and I think it's time I started using it up too! You've given me an idea :) So glad you had fun at the bridal shower, something that is becoming a lot more common in the UK. xx
ReplyDelete2 beautiful CAS cards! Love the delicate first, but the bold copper one is such a good design for a male card; think that one is my favorite (and set me thinking about a male card; thanks!) Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Dolly! Love the pink card with the overlay of patterned acetate. I have not heard of that. Very cool and makes a beautiful card. Love the shimmer and shine from your copper Christmas card. You are on a roll! Lolly xx

ReplyDeleteAnne
Fabulous are both your cards Darnell.....l hadn't heard of bridle showers before it sounded like a really good day so pleased you enjoyed it x
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards, the pink one looks so pretty and feminine, but it's that beautiful star that caught my eye today ..... how rich does that look! xx
ReplyDeleteYour first card is so delicate and pretty and why do we hoard things?? You are not alone x Stunning second card, full of glorious double heat embossing and shine.....love it x
ReplyDeleteYour QACAS cards are fabulous! The floral acetate is so pretty! Glad you used it! I am also guilty of hoarding some of my stuff but it's really no good in a dark drawer! Your Christmas card might not have been a joy to photograph but I bet it will be a joy to receive, it's so beautiful with all the copper!
ReplyDeleteThese are two fabulous QACAS cards, Darnell! I need to study your style and try to get more Qer and CASer in my card making! It seems to come naturally to you, friend!
ReplyDeleteWow Darnell, that star looks sooo classy! Love all that shine and copper glitz, and it's such a great CAS design. Your little pink number is so pretty too.
