Hello Stamplings!
Me again! I can't even remember the last time I had back-to-back posts, but one of my GD spots ran right into the back of another one and there you go. Double the honor, double the fun!
Today I'm super delighted to be Guest Designing for the ever-popular CAS(E) This Sketch!

Fun, isn't it? This big ol' sediment comes from a very old wooden stamp from My Sentiments Exactly. It's another old stamp I can't bear to part with, especially since, as I mentioned yesterday, most of my friends are "of a certain age" and they will appreciate the humor! If you are too young to get the reference, it's from an old timey saying that you were "over the hill" once you celebrated your 50th birthday and it was all downhill from then on.
That used to be true, but now it's no longer valid what with 50 being the new 40, 40 being the new 30, and so on. And that's how we end up feeling like we're only SIX! (Up in our heads, mind you, not in our bodies!)
And here is the CTS sketch that made me go very streamlined and masculine:
We are going Retro CTS this week. It looks deceptively simple, doesn't it? I love those sketches that make you think, "Oh, piece of cake!," but then you turn to your inner hamster who stares blankly back at you and you realize it's gonna be a challenging challenge after all! And that's what we want, so thank you, N@ Ali!
I can't wait to see your interpretations of the sketch! To see the incredible works of art from the Design Team, please visit CAS(E) This Sketch!

My sweet friend Linda of Lin's Craft Corner became the proud grandmother of TRIPLETS last week!!! This is the card I made for the new family! The miracle babies are a girl and twin boys and I'm so happy for all of them! May their blessings continue threefold throughout their lives!

ReplyDeleteAnd this card!!! What the hill indeed! SO fun!!
=]
That 'over the hill' really did make me smile Darnell, I feel like I am soon to be....OTH... except in my mine. What a great card, I love it!!
ReplyDeleteWow, triplets! Such a great card, it is brilliant! I cannot imagine looking after three babies all at the same time but the parents must be absolutely thrilled! Hugs, Annie xx
.... oops, that should say mind!! xx
ReplyDeleteI thought maybe the bunnies were over the hill, but no, they are partying with the triplets!! You can't get away from those bunnies you know LOL. Love the triplet card. Wow, what a handful and a half that must be. Hugz
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Love both cards.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a nice day. Sue
Tee hee, Darnell, what a riot ... just wondering if I should try walking up that hill, then maybe I'd notice it!! Congratulations on another oh so well deserved GD spot! Cute card for three little cuties ... oh my, what fun that's going to be! LYAMYLMA ... TFATGT! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteI love your sense of humor... your hill card had me laughing out loud. Just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI love these great cards!! I found your card first thing this morning on the CAS(E) web site : ) too too cute friend! and I am loving your darling personalized triplets card!! They are going to treasure it!!
ReplyDelete(((Hugs)))

Love your CAS 'Over the Hill' card, Darnell. I remember lots of Over the Hill cards in the shops for 40 years olds when I was about that age! As my daughter turned 40 last year, I'm not sure what that makes me now! LOL! Super triplets card, the little safety pins are so cute. xx
ReplyDeleteFirst of all your GD assignment card is fall down funny. No wonder you held onto those stamps so long...I bet it will be a CTS winner. And that baby card is simply adorable with the onesies and the teensy safety pins (think I may still have a few of those, too). Also think that background is awesome. However, I do not envy the new Mom although, she's probably pleased as punch.
ReplyDeleteHa! I'm certainly familiar with the hill reference. I climbed it a few years ago. That's a very clever take on the sketch, Darnell, which I never would have thought of. Just goes to show how creative you are. And, speaking of creative, your triplets card tops all. Half pink, half blue, and those three little onsies -- too cute! The teeny diaper pins are the perfect embellishment. A triple blessing! Wow!
ReplyDeleteI love your take on the CASE this Sketch Challenge Darnell, and lovely to see you as GD this time. This is great fun, the outside, and then of course the inside too. If you are over the hill at 40 then I must be well over the hill and way, way, way, in the distance...lol. What a fabulous card to celebrate the birth of triplet grandkids too and I adore the blue/pink background and the way you have marked each of the babygro's with the appropriate gender, a really clever design. x
ReplyDeleteFun CAS as inspiration for your GD (congrats!) and love so much the green tones! The second one is just a delight, so so cute and happy and -oh my!- your friend is the grandmother of TRIPLETS!!! Great notice and she quickly needs three pair of eyes, arms and legs!! LOL :D
ReplyDeleteFabulous take on the sketch Darnell. COngrats on the win/GD spot. YOu knocked it out of the park.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on guesting Darnell with this classy CAS masculine card. Very witty and being of a certain age...I got it! Marvellous news about Linda and the triplets...a true miracle. Wonderful card and so cute and adorable. Loving the safety pins and the little individual baby-grows, so thoughtful and so special x
ReplyDeleteLove the hill card, just right too.
ReplyDeleteSuper card for the triplets, don't here triplets very often these days.
Kath x
Oh yes!! I know about that HILL, haha!!! I think I reached my peak at age 50, starting to race Triathlons and becoming an Iron Man Triathlete at age 55.
ReplyDeleteI love your interpretation of the sketch, your imagination is limitless.
And I adore the sweet baby card for your friend, what a blessing and how much fun.....Triplets, AWESOME!!!!!
Big Hugs, my dear.
Maria.
Fantastic cards Darnell! Love the hill sentiments. And no, I didn't see the hill and still can't see the hill :)
ReplyDeleteLove the sentiment, Darnell. I wouldn’t part with it either.
ReplyDeleteAnd such a cute triplet card. Gotta love those safety pins. ❤️
OK - just following instructions - you said grab a drink (in my case it is a glass of wine) and yes it is 5 o'clock somewhere. When I saw your first card I loved it, ho original and so appropriate for that "midlife" birthday.
ReplyDeleteThen I scrolled down and saw the triplet card and oh wow you knocked it out of the ball park there. What a blessing from above to have three - I have a friend who has triplet and she has so got her act together, in fact a lot better than myself.
What a fun card and fun sentiment on your "over the hill" card. Love it. That darling baby card for the triplets is so cute. Great cards.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE LOVE LOVE the sentiment on this card with the hills!! It's hilarious and I love the clean and easy look - perfection for someone sledding down one of those hills - OK, rolling down without a sled head-first :)
ReplyDeleteTRIPLETS!?!?!?! Congrats to your friend and what a great card to make for the special family!! Love the baby pins attached to the onesies :) Super cute! Although I'm thrilled and delighted for the family, can I just say I'm glad that cannot possibly happen to me anymore? LOL
Congrats on your GD spot, Darnell, and what a brilliant take on the sketch! I love the design of them thar hills, and the big ol' sentiment is fab. I’ve got many a stamp that I can’t bear to part with...
ReplyDeleteGorgeous triplets card - love the onesies 😉.
You are such a clever crafter, Darnell! Your over the hill card is awesome, and I wouldn't part with those stamps, either. Great take on the sketch, too. Thanks for playing along at Seize the Birthday!
ReplyDeleteYour hill card is so fun and well designed. Love the sentiment too. And, what a darling card for welcoming triplets. That is so beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteEven with 50 being the new 40 I'm still way over the hill but rolling down it is great fun. I love all the textured green, Darnell. The triplet card is adorable. I also happen to be the grandmother of triplets. Lots of work and lots of fun. I can't believe they'll be 20 shortly. Where did the time go?
ReplyDeleteI immediately got the fun sentiment! Your hills of texture are wonderful and colorful! The stamp is definitely a keeper!
ReplyDeleteYour baby card is so perfect for the sweet triplets! Love the little "diaper" pins!
Oh gosh what a fun card and sentiment! Is that anything like walking to school uphill in the snow both ways LOL!! A grandmother of triplet, how wonderful! She is going to love her special card Darnell!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all it’s such a pleasure to have you guesting with us and a treat to see your interpretation of N@Ali’s sketch! That card is so perfectly executed—I just love it so much!/
ReplyDeleteThat over the hill card cracks me up! It's so fun! Thanks for sharing with us at Cards in Envy.
ReplyDeleteI so love your interpretation of the sketch! I’m so literal and wouldn’t have thought of the hills! Perfect! And sadly, or not, I can relate to the sentiment! It’s so fun though! Big congrats on another GD! Ooh, triplets! Such a fab card with the blue and pink and the little onesies! Love it all! What’s not to love about receiving a cute card like that! Sending many hugs!
ReplyDeleteYou make awesome cards, Darnell, which is why your GD assignments ended up back-to-back. I love both cards featured here today. Your "over the hill" card is so creative in its simplicity. And a card to celebrate triplets--wow! I had twins and thought that was a real trip.
ReplyDeleteDarnel, OMG that baby card is so adorable, love the little pins attached to the onesies :)
ReplyDeletelove the hill card what a fantastic sentiment xx
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards. Over the hill? ..... never. Although I feel a bit that way this morning. Singing and dancing into the early hours takes its toll these days! Love your CAS design
ReplyDeleteAnd three little ones ..... WOW! Super cute card to celebrate xx
Congratulations on guest designing at CAS(E) This Sketch, Darnell! Your card is super fun!
ReplyDeleteAt the end the simplest things are most complicated ones.:-) Your interpretation of the sketch is fabulous. With the amazing sentiment is it the winning combination. :-) The baby card for triplets is very cute. I supose it was real challnge to create it.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Hugs,
Sonja
I climbed that hill years ago and now falling off the hill. LOL! Your baby card is adorable
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Marilyn❤
Beautiful cards, Darnell xoxo
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, your hill card is too funny and the baby card is adorable!
ReplyDeleteYeppers, I totally "get" the over the hill reference, unfortunately. BUT, I can still admire the card you made because it says it perfectly. What hill? Oh my gosh, three babies, how wonderful. The card is adorable and Linda must be in heaven. I love the little safety pins.
ReplyDeleteDarnell that is a great sentiment and card for the sketch. The sentiment would actually be perfect for my sister who is turning 60 this weekend. Then I think to myself hey she is only 9 yeas older than me...! I choose not to see the hills yet--lol! Congrats on the GD!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on GD! 👏🎉🎉 Awesome GD card and as always made me smile!
ReplyDeleteYour baby card is adorable... but TRIPLETS!? Best wishes to the expanded family. xx
Love, love, love the CAS perfection of your over the hill card, Darnell! Congratulations on nailing the sketch as a guest designer. The baby card was a bonus - love the trio of onesies!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being chosen the GD for the new CTS challenge. I LOVE your take on the challenge. Great guy card design. TFS your sweet triplets card too. Triplets are the new twins. Happens pretty often anymore. Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteDarnell, congrats on the GD card. You are too cleaver with the over the hill card. And thank you so much for the shout out about the triplets. Just found out that all three are off the CPAPs. Yeah...That card is just too adorable. I love it and they will too.
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards Dee! I love the first witty one and the colours and texture and the last baby one is so adorable too. Wow triplets, your friend is gonna be a very busy grandmother lol ;)hugs Vee xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic take on the sketch! So clever to use some gently rolling hills to mimic the three lines on the sketch. What a treat to have you joining us at CAS(E) This Sketfch this week!
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing. Thank you for the wonderful inspiration and the laugh. Now I understand the gap between my physical and mental age, its all the media's fault. ;)
ReplyDeleteCarole
Another GD spot? Congratulations and well deserved! Adore your humorous take on the sketch! You know, I have been in this country for a long time and nobody was ever capable to tell me at what age you were on top of that hill. I eventually quit asking and appreciate learning the answer from you! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat baby card is adorable! It's not often that one has an opportunity to make a card for triplets! The three onesies are so sweet!
It's been a while since I saw the hill. :) So funny Dolly, and I love your interpretation of the sketch. Congrats on being Guest Designer at CASE this sketch!
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable card to mark a very special occasion. LOVE the baby onsies with the diaper pins. Lin and family will cherish this card. xx
Hi Darnell
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that 50 is the new 40.........its obviously not all bad then lol!!!
I'm surprised you haven't researched where the phrase "Over the hill" came from......I may just have to Google it now.
The baby card is soooo cute. My goodness, 3 at once does not bare thinking about lol!!!
Ang x
Goodness, love your very clever that on the sketch! Love it!! And your baby card is adorable. What a sweet way to welcome three little ones!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being the GD, Darnell! I just love your clever over the hill card! You're so right--this year I no longer feel like I was still 40 in my body, but I do in my mind! Lin will love the adorable baby card!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous interpretation of the sketch and the sentiment made me laugh out loud. You do know that when you reach 30, you start going backwards in age and so when you reach 60, you're only really 1, and then you start getting older again..... works me for me... ANd triplets??? Woah!! That's some task, but so much fun! I have friends with twins and despite a lot of the added stress, it is so lovely having two together to bounce off each other and to see develop at the same time. Happy times!! xx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell! Wow, I do love your over the hill snippets card! So clever - nothing more than I would expect though from you hun! And the triplets card is brilliant as well. Lovely to see you in the Playground - I owe you an email I know - as my back is having a good spell for the past few days I'm running around catching up on a million and one things around the house needless to say, so time is short online. Also, it's been even hotter than when we were in Southampton - and of course we're not geared up for it in the UK. But, it's fabulous! Sunshine 0 yay!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Di xx
Such creative cards! But then again...what else would I expect from You. Very nicely done!
ReplyDeleteOh how I love the first card ~ so relateable :-o
ReplyDeleteAnd, that baby card is just the sweetest!
