Hello Stamplings!
Happy Toozday! Thank you all for your kind support and prayers for our little Adam. And for me, too. We are both doing fine, considering. Now hows about you? How are you doing? I am keeping up with all your wonderful comments, which are so appreciated, but it seems like ages since I've visited and I hope to get back with everyone soon. I especially wonder how you are doing if you are in PA and points east due to the rain and flooding.
As the title suggests, ... wait. What? That title is definitely not right! It should say Stencil Monoprint TRIple which is what I achieved when I tried my hand at stencil monoprinting for the current CAS Mix Up Card Challenge. I first tried this technique at the Retreat in Vancouver and if you want to learn more about how it works, there is a list of great videos on the current CAS Mix Up blog. I didn't have a lot of success with multiple inkings at the Retreat, but this time I was able to extract three monoprints!
Here is my onefer stencil print:

I didn't have a lot of success with multiple inkings at the Retreat, but this time I was able to extract three monoprints!
Here is my onefer stencil print:
For my stencil, I used a NBUS MFT Mix-Ables stencil. I inked it in the colors shown using Distress Oxides and once dry I embellished the panel with an Impression Obsession 6-n-1 scalloped frame and a NBUS Thinking of You die from Concord & 9th. Remember "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" story from your toddlerhood? Well, this monoprint is too busy to be CAS, so it's no good for the CAS Mix Up Challenge. Also, there is no stamping on it, but it is good for these fun challenges:
- Pixie's Snippets Playground: Use those snippets.
- Where Creativity Meets C9: Anything goes.
Let's look at my twofer stencil printing:
To design a card with my second printing and to compliment the background, I used my NBUS Altenew "Dearest Friend" stamps and die, a NBUS MFT hello die, and a NBUS "there" stamp from WPlus9. The flowers were colored in pastel shades with my Ziggies and popped up in your face.
There is stamping on this card, and die-cutting, and it is less busy, but is it less busy enough to be properly CAS? Nope. But it is good for these challenges:
- AAA Cards: Friendship.
- Cards in Envy: Something new (NBUS).
To showcase this subtle background, I used a stamped and clear-embossed cone flower silhouette stamp from SU. The black is very schparkly in real life. A little love note border of Washi tape balances the design and stands in as a sediment.
There is quite a bit of white space and simplicity with this design because, remember, black or colored space can be "white," too. As long as it is free or uncluttered space, it can be any color. So, yes, this is Clean And Simple. And there is stamping. And I have a third required element of heat embossing. So this card is just right! Thank you, Goldilocks © 2018.
Here are my three printings together with the stencil.
This was truly fun! I don't often get all inky and, of course, you know Hammy loves it when I do. He will take any opportunity to color his fur, especially since the Oxies came out. The softer shades really go with his natural coloring and if I don't remember to clean him off before he goes back in his cage, he has the prettiest bedding in Hamsterdam!

Your Threefer stencil monoprints are awesome Dolly!! LOVE all that inky goodness. So much that you were able to get three prints ... that is AWESOME! You've used such beautiful colours for the background and each design is unique and creative. You know me ... especially love your CAS card at the end. The contrast with the black over the soft background is a real WOW! Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! xx
ReplyDeleteGreat technique and your collection of cards is so creative and unique.
ReplyDeleteHere the heatwave has ended so I hope I will be more productive and creative too.
Hugs xx
A trio of delight Darnell, I love how your backgrounds are always so clean and fresh looking I would surely have to wear gloves to achieve anything similar hee hee! Glad both you and Adam are doing well (Considering)..
ReplyDeleteWe have at last seen some rain in the UK and our cracked earth has been quenched. It's good to see signs of green life again rather than scorched earth.
Wishing you much creativity & heeling hugs Tracey xx
Three fab cards Darnell, love the way you've picked out the colours on the second, it's so fresh looking. I have finally bought a Gelli plate and roller but as yet they are clean and uninked! Glad to hear you and Adam are feeling better. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat work with the printing stenciling, Darnell!! Your three cards are all beautiful and so sweet! Love especially the dramatic effect of the last one, those silhouettes really pops from the delicate background and the sentiment stripe matches so well with them!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for you and Adam, take care!
Here (in Italy) there were some storms and the bad hot is gone... but the sun shines and it's Summer yet :)
Hugs
Well Hammy certainly has a good eye for colour if his bedding looks as pretty as these three fabulous cards Darnell. They are each a delight to the eyes, and well done on getting three prints from the stencil and using each one!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
Three fantastic cards Darnell, I love the stencil you've used.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Beautiful cards! Prayers for Adam and his family
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Marilyn❤️
It's so good to see you were able to play, Darnell. I'm relieved to here Adam is recovering as well. Whew! Your cards are very fun and very pretty. Thrilled that the process worked so well for you! Very well done! :) Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, I've finally made it into Blogland to play catch up. First of all I was so sorry to hear about Adam's accident and hope he makes a speedy recovery. Also glad to hear your surgery went okay.
ReplyDeleteAs for all of your cards I've missed over the last few weeks.... so many to comment on individually but they are all fabulous and I love this super threesome and gorgeous designs using the stencil prints.... I tried that once and it ended up in the bin so maybe it's time for me to have another go. Take care xx
They are gorgeous! Continued prayers for you and the kiddo too xoxo
ReplyDeleteThree fantastic stencil monoprints Darnell and love the beautiful blue die cut frame and sentiment, then the prettily coloured flowers and yet another great die cut sentiment, and the silhouette coneflowers on the last are just so striking. Glad to know you are recovering well and that Adam is getting there too. x
ReplyDeleteYour stencil mono printing technique looks fabulous on all three of your wonderful cards. The technique often produces wonderful artsy cards but not always CAS but what a fantastic job you did with the third CAS card. The black silhouette stamping looks amazing with it. Great addition to the gallery at The CAS Mix Up Challenge....Thank you x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards as always again Dee! so pleased to hear your surgery went well and that poor Adam is mending ok (only just seen your post about it)...what a shock for you all! here's to a quieter time for all of you and stay safe from those horrid fires there also! hugs Vee xx
ReplyDeleteOoops and mean't to add gorgeous card you shared with us for 'The Flower Challenge' too, thanks again ;) Viv xx
ReplyDeleteYour stenciling Darnell is gorgeous as are your cards so beautifully done and presented, so pleased to read you and Adam are doing fine sending lots of love x
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful cards! Love how you did them!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that you and Adam are doing well Auntie! We are still getting rain here in my neck of PA with some minor flooding in my county. Lots of flooding in other counties though. Glad I'm where I'm at! I just have a soggy yard, which I'm not going to complain about....to much. lol Love the threefer! You did a great job getting three monoprints. This is a technique I haven't tried yet, so if I can squeeze the time in I'd like to try it. Depends on these little girls. lol I love each of your cards, they are so beautiful! The first one is so colorful and summery looking and I love it! The second one is summery looking too. I just love that bouquet of flowers! And your third one is CASalicious! Love that die or stamped cone flowers-I think they are cone flowers-whatever they are I am loving them!!! I just love all the backgrounds. I really got to try this out! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteAlways so fun to see your multiple cards love that hello one ☺
ReplyDeleteGreat threefer with your monopint. love the soft image on the last print, so perfect with the black flower silhouette :)
ReplyDeleteYour post title had me worried for a minute that you were tippling in the Playhouse and we were going to see drunken cards! Phew - instead I see three gorgeous cards using your stencil monoprint. All are lovely but I do have a favourite - the third one. I love the strong contrast of the black flowers against the soft stencil background. So glad you went on to create a threefer! And so glad things are going as well as possible for you and for Adam.
ReplyDeleteThree outstandingly beautiful cards. I really love the one with all the pretty flowers and the big die cut "hello" on it. And, I am so happy you are able to be up and back to crafting card designs. You spring back quite fast I think. I hope both you and Adam keep improving.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE all 3 of your Stencil Monoprint cards, Dolly. Such beautiful examples of how to use your monoprint backgrounds. So cool how you got 3 pulls from your stencil:-) TFS and joining us at CAS Mix Up. Hugs..
ReplyDeleteI am still in shock after just reading about Adam's very scary accident. What a very lucky young man he is and wonderful to see his positive attitude. Being young, healthy and positive will sure help his recovery. So glad to hear you and Adam are healing. Take care my friend and I am sending positive thoughts and prayers to you both. Love and Hugs...Nancy
Oh my goodness Darnell I’ve just been catching up on my commenting, sending healing hugs to both you and Adam and hope you both make a good and fast recovery. Love all your cards on last three posts, I’m surprised you’ve had time to make any! Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you and Adam are both doing better, Darnell. Your three cards are all so stunning!! I love how you've used the stencil!! They are gorgeous!! Have a great day!! Big hugs :)

I love how you've gotten three monoprints from one inking, Dolly! Pretty colors too! I love how you've used the first two prints for such fun cards! My CAS heart really loves the soft colors of the third and the lovely silhouetted flowers! That's one of my old "keeper" stamps. Thanks so much for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, you picked a good stencil and I think the oxides are better for this technique than the regular --- just because I love seeing more color from the mono print. Love that first color filled card. Your second and third are fabulous as well, while not as filled with color, the color that is there is still full of depth. Win win win.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Glad you are doing better and hope Adam is improving daily.
ReplyDeleteLove all three cards. Reckon after making those, you deserved a tipple:) LOL Sue
Good grief, you and Hammy did have fun with this mono printing. Never tried it myself but your results have me intrigued. Each card is so different it's hard to believe you've used the same stencil.
ReplyDeleteHappy that both you and Adam are recovering nicely. That's what I hoped for.
I am so happy to hear that you and Adam are on the mend, I hope it continues so. If wishing you both well works, you should both be feeling much better soon!
ReplyDeleteLovely to see all the inky goodness on your beautiful mono printed cards, it certainly worked out beautifully! I can never get that technique to work but you have made me want to have another go - thanks so much for the inspiration! Big hugs, Annie xxxx
How pretty are all of these cards! I'm glad to see you're feeling well enough to craft again so soon after your surgery and hopefully life is improving for you and your family! I'm going to have to investigate that technique because it's pretty awesome :)
ReplyDeleteI just bought this stencil in MFT's retirement sale but haven't used it yet. What you've done with it is fabulous! Three cards - all gorgeous! I'm glad you're on the mend and I'm also thankful that Adam's incident ended without tragedy. How scary for all concerned.
ReplyDeleteA trio of colorful prettiness Darnel, your stenciling looks amazing! Love the pretty florals on the hello card. glad to hear those prayers for you and Adam are being answered. {{HUGS}}
ReplyDeleteI know its about the stencil but I love the altenew floral stamp. You have coloured it beautifully!
ReplyDeleteYour trio of cards is terrific! I think I love the drama of the coneflower silhouette the best. The intense contrast grabs me (and I kinda' like it. he he).
ReplyDeleteI’m just playing catch-up in blogland, Darnell, and I’m glad to know that you are recovering well from your surgery, and that Adam's injuries weren’t more severe. Boys, eh!
ReplyDeleteLove the stencil monoprint threefer, especially the second one, it's so cheery! I need to play at monoprint8ng again, it’s such good fun :)
Three in One! It's a veritable Trinity of stamping goodness. I love the way the different strengths of stencil influence the rest of the card too. I particularly like the middle one - enough, but not too much. So glad to hear you are all on the mend. xx
ReplyDeleteThanks for worrying about us in PA. Monday was quite testy, with flooding in places that never flood. I think the rain is gone for now. So glad you and Adam are both doing well. As for this 3x post... just wow! What a great stencil and even more awesome cards. Kind of funny, cause I had a play with stencils last night, also.
ReplyDeleteWow, a threefer from one stencil. I am so impressed and awed. They are beautiful. I especially love that beautiful bouquet of flowers in soft colors. I love the purple and aqua color combination and the beautiful black image on the last card. I've tried this before and got such blobs. Maybe I'm due to try again. I'll go watch the videos. Wish I could have seen Hammy in his beautiful colored fur. I'm so happy you are doing well and hope Adam is able to get around okay at school.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you tried this technique sis, and got all inky in the bargain! Wonderful backgrounds on all three of your lovely creations! Love the black silhouette stems and side strip on the one you are sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! I have to read down to see what happened to Adam and you - glad to hear you are both ok! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteThese are just gorgeous, Darnell! I love that you got three cards from one technique. So fun!!!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are all so beautiful! I just love the colorful backgrounds and the cheerful flowers. Thanks for playing with us over at Cards in Envy!
ReplyDeleteI recently played with this technique (blog post to come soon) but I didn't think of making more than one print, hmmm... Next time I'll try that because I adore your results! The last card is my favorite - the subtle background with the black silhouettes!
ReplyDeleteThink I love the subtle twofer and threader stencil prints the most. Pretty set of cards Darnell. Thanks for linking one up at AAA Cards.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful collection of cards, stunning. Thanks for playing along at AAA Cards
ReplyDeleteWOW! Three amazing cards. What a gorgeous stencil and great colour choice too xx
ReplyDeleteAll three cards are amazing Darnell - as always from you! Such fresh and vibrant colours too.
ReplyDeleteSo glad that you and little Adam are progressing well - my fingers ans toes are still crossed here which is making using them very awkward. Yes, i do sometimes use my toes to pick something up from the floor like a little piece of paper or such when the back is playing up and I can't find the grab stick!
Isn't it funny that it took me so long to find YNS stamps?! I think it's 'cos we're so behind the times here in the UK with importing a lot of over the Pond made products. Have you come across a 'Gym Rat' set of stamps? Made by Waffle Flower - I have them for a future Playground prize - very cute!
Hugs
Di xx
These are just stunning! Continuing to send prayers for you and Adam, thanks for the update.
ReplyDeleteA threefer from just one inking up of that lovely, full-of-movement stencil, Darnell ... how delicious! You've dressed up those colourful backgrounds so wonderfully ... I am particularly taken with the last, subtle one ... don't those silhouette schparkly cone flowers look gorgeous against it! Am I right in thinking that last photo includes the very elusive (and brilliantly reviewed) THCM? Would love to know what you think of it WWGT! LYAMYMA ... happy weekend! Big hugs & bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteWow--these are so neat, Darnell! I especially love the second one with that gorgeous floral bouquet!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty flowers, Darnell. Thank you for sharing with us at AAA Cards. =) Tracie
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteSorry I have been missing again but life has been very busy at the pond.
So sorry to read about Adam. I really do hope that he will make a swift recovery. Poor Daniel can't have any nails left with the last few months events.
Your cards are super as always. You are the queen of ink.
Best wishes.
Ang x
I finally tried this technique after seeing Michele Fergusons cards. Have not made anything yet with the backgrounds, though. I LOVE your cards. I love your mix of colors used and how you did a second printing for the second card. My seconds did not come out very well at all.
ReplyDeleteI think maybe that tipple was a Freudian slip. Darnell. ;) But a triple monoprint is good too. I like how they progressed from more color exposure to less and how the toppings complimented them so well.
ReplyDeleteOooh, a threefer! It was a little hard for me to get past the colored flowers with such a pretty and subtle background. The flowers are so gorgeous with a hint of fun in the illustration style. Love that! I'm reading all the NBUS again, too. It is never ending and it reminds me I need to get back to mine as it continues to grow. All three are clever and colorful cards. I could have sworn the flowers in #3 were a die cut. Very distinct and textural with the embossing, and I do see a bit of sparkle. It was good to catch up today, Darnell. I'm glad you're recovering nicely from your surgery, and it sounds like Adam is healing well, too.
ReplyDeleteWOW, this is a great technique, Darnell! Your card set is beautiful and each one looks totally different.
ReplyDeleteI'm inspired to dust off the stencils sitting here in the craft room doing absolutely nothing!
Pretty trio of cards! Thank you so much for joining us at Where Creativity Meets C9!
ReplyDeleteThese are just gorgeous, Darnell! I particularly love the second one.... but I have a floral weakness haha! Thanks so much for joining us over at Where Creativity Meets C9!
