Hello Stamplings!
I'm coming to you today from the beautiful green state of Indiana USA where I've been staying with my friend Brenda and having a ball! In a little bit Hammy and I'll be flying home to a very lonely Mister. In spite of the fun I've been having, I've missed him, too, and it will be nice to be back home!
Before I left on my adventure, I made reminder cards for you for Twofer Card Challenge #10 where the prompt is HARVEST!
I used a pretty textured paper from my friend Barb as my card base and attached a copper-embossed and copper-matted panel, tied in a coppery ribbon. The PTI (?) sediment is also copper-embossed.
Challenges
- CAS Mix Up: Metal, plus stamping, plus wet embossing.
- Retro Rubber: Tic-Tac-Toe. Row one across. The tall wheat stamp is from 2010, and the paper, sediment, and ribbon are all a few years old, too!
- STAMPlorations: Theme and Sketch: Stamps and autumn.
Twofer
This QACAS OLC (quick and clean and simple one-layer card) is pretty self-exploratory. I used my Clarity Brushes and Oxies to make a sun. Or is it a moon? Was I driving?*
Challenges
- Seize the Birthday: Anything goes!
- Simon Says Work It Wednesday: STAMPtember!
I am looking forward to seeing what you create for this month's Twofer Card Challenge! It's wonderful to see you so enthusiastically supporting my little challenging challenge. Mwah!!

I'll leave you with this photo from the last leg of my journey!
From left to right: Brenda (Inkspired to Stamp), Sharyn (My Crafty Place), Sharon (Brenda's SIL), me, and Donna (Design by Donna). Thank you, ladies, for meeting me and Brenda for a fun day shopping and lunching and getting to know each other!

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!

*When we were at the lake house in Wisconsin, Michele told a joke that still has me in stitches. I have used the punch line repeatedly ever since she told it and I hope she doesn't mind if I tell you:
Two mature ladies were going out shopping. As they were driving along, Ruth turned to Eleanor and said, "You know you blew through that stop sign." Eleanor looked over at Ruth and replied, "Was I driving?"
*Life is too short!

That wheat stamp is beautiful Darnell, and you have made the most of it with your the gorgeous versions of it. I adore the copper look and the wonderful texture of the background card, and then the stunning large bright sunny orb with the black silhouette of the wheat over it...fabulous! I'm glad you have had such a great time meeting more lovely ladies on your travels, and love that photo of you all, and we and the Mister are looking forward to having you back with us, as it seems as though you have been away for ever...lol. x

ReplyDeleteI'm so happy that I was able to meet you. It felt like you were a long lost friend, and I could have talked to you for hours. It was such a fun afternoon! Hugs, Sharyn
ReplyDeleteIt was actually Gladys, and Ethel... and there was not one thing mature about either! but since you're driving, I'll let you tell it the way you remember it! ha!
ReplyDeleteBTW "shine on, shine Harvest Sun..." doesn't have the same flavor, does it? Gorgeous stamp!!

ReplyDeleteSeems that you have had a happy meeting with your crafty friends!
The wheat looks so beautiful in copper and a lovely sentiment with it. The bright sun really highlights the wheat stalks in the second card. What a wonderful time I had with Darnell, Sharon, Sharyn and Donna. It was so great to spend time with these ladies.
ReplyDeleteForgot to say "The joke lives on" and we never knew who was driving!
ReplyDeleteAmazing twofer with very nice and elegant stamp, suitable for more occasions.I like both design and also a limited number of colours on both cards.

Hi Darnell, love that punch line and can relate to it as I sometimes feel as if I'm driving on autopilot and can't remember getting there...scary or what!
ReplyDeleteI love your two cards, I am very partial to this kind of image and your designs are gorgeous, the sentiment is s lovely one too, Kate x
I'm still laughing over that joke...that one brought tears to my eyes. This was a good reminder because my brain hadn't grasped that time was whizzing by. I better get a move on.
ReplyDeleteHave a really soft spot for this sheaf of wheat, though. It was on a lovely card sent to Steve after he had his stroke. He really loved it. Looks so elegant on your cards, as well.
Beautiful twofers - I'm liking the second one best but that i just personal preference. What a fun trip you had - and glad Hammy enjoyed. Always to get home. The joke was too funny.
ReplyDeleteGosh what a great image. The cards are both beautiful and would be lovely to CASE. Glad your vacation was a success. BBB
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are gorgeous but that second one is sensational, it is so bold and beautiful! It sounds like you have had an amazing time on your trip, it seems like you have been away for ages... The joke is hilarious! Hugs, Annie xxx
ReplyDeleteLove both cards Darnell. I was looking at that tall wheat stamp for this challenge too. Out in the Adirondacks for a bit of fall color right now, but hope to play when I get back home.

What wonderful cards! I particularly love the second one and might have to CASE that. Sorry I've been absent -- busy recovering from Hurricanes Florence & Michael. Both hit here in NC.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Loving the cards.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got to meet up with more ladies.
I did giggle at the joke:)
You take care. Sue
Dear Darnell: I just saw your beautiful card over at the RETRO RUBBER challenge, I'm so happy you shared this card with us there.
ReplyDeleteI love how you interpreted that first row on our TIC TAC TOE CHALLENGE.
Thank you for sharing with us and we hope you come and play along again next time.
Hugs.
Maria Rodriguez.
Fabulous texture on the card stock and wonderful faux metal embossing on your first beautiful card. Such a classy and elegant second card. So glad you've been having fun on your trip away with family and friends. Thank you for finding time to join in the Metal challenge at The CAS Mix Up Challenge x.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards, Darnell. I love the textures you've used in the monochromatic one - I thought you'd used SU's Subtle embossing folder because it looks just like that! It's a fabulous stamp too -it's given me stamp envy! Thank you for joining us at Retro Rubber Challenge and especially for playing my tic-tac-toe challenge.
ReplyDeleteLove them both Darnell! So happy you got to meet up with my buddy Sharyn! She is a huge fan of yours! I know that meant a great deal to her! Thanks for being with us at Seize the Birthday! You are going to be so happy to be home! You have had quite an adventure!
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous harvest cards Dolly! I have that same stamp and need to dust it off. It's gorgeous done in copper with the copper framing and ribbon. Love the soft colour of your textured card front that is just perfect! Your silhouette image is STRIKING! The black with the bright yellow really give a dramatic look with the contrast! I wondered about the "Am I driving?" until I read the joke from Michelle ... HILARIOUS! I can image you using the punch lines for many things! :) What a lovely group of ladies to have lunch and shop with. What a fun adventure you've had again this fall. Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteOops ...thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up, my friend! L.L.
ReplyDeleteTwo absolutely stunning cards, a super image and great designs.
ReplyDeleteKath x
So glad the Indiana trip was such a fun time, Darnell, but I never doubted it for a moment. Yes the sentiment is from PTI, Meadow Greens to be exact. The wheat is lovely in both copper and black - a totally different feel for each card, which is the point of course.
ReplyDeleteLove both your card 'reminders' Darnell, especially the first one in the coppery tones. You sure have been getting about lately...how wonderful for you to meet all these crafty people!...but then you spread sunshine where ever you go. Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteYour cards are awesome, and I'm so glad you got to go visit with more blogging friends and spend some time in IN (where my son and his family live). Great photos and a funny story to end today's post too LOL Welcome back home :)
ReplyDeleteTwo Gorgeous CAS Wheat card designs, Dolly. I LOVE your copper heat embossed card with the beautiful textured paper. So pleased you added it to our CAS Mix Up Challenge..metal. Also your wheat and glowing moon card is sooo gorgeous too. TFS the cute photo of all your dear stamping girl friends. It seems like you have been gone for ages and I am sure Mister thinks so too. Love and Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteI like that long wispy wheat on both of your pretty CAS cards Darnell! Looks like you've been having a wonderful vacation and making lots of new friends!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards Darnell, a great stamp looks beautiful with the copper on the linen card and then amazing as a silhouette.
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely cards. Love the heat embossing.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you and hammy are having a great time.
Tow super cards, am impressed you managed to get such clean sentiment embossing on the first one and the coppers are beautiful. The second one is stunning, I always love a silhouette image and it looks fabulous against that Sun. Gorgeous cards Darnell. Hope you and the clan are all doing well. Hugs, Lisa xx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell! Just want to say I think both cards are beautiful! Especially love the first with the coppery shine! Sounds like you’ve had a fun trip! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteBoth beautiful cards Darnell and I loved the sentiment on the first and the gorgeous yellow moon on the second! ;) And your joke had me in stitches especially since I sometimes forget I'm the driver too... Have a great day! Hugs, Gwendolyn
ReplyDeleteHe he he. That joke has me chuckling. Now I have to go back and see what the cards are. Oh, yes, Beautiful wheat and a lovely sentiment on the classy first card. Love the bright sun on the second. What fun to get to know these lovely ladies in person!
ReplyDeleteI have this wheat stamp and have never made anything so beautiful with it. The sun/moon is especially gorgeous. When I read the joke I kept picturing those Art Impressions ladies. You're having so much fun and it's lovely!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've been having lots of fun but I bet you're enjoying being back with the Mister.... and no doubt making him laugh with tales of your escapades!

ReplyDeleteLovely twofer .... I love the wheat image, it looks great embossed xx
Two fab cards - beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Indiana as I have a friend that lives there. You look like you had another lovely crafty meet up.
Beautiful cards. As a farmer's wife, wheat featured largely when we were arable, so these are right up my street!! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards! I love all the scenery that you you have created. Thanks for sharing with Retro Rubber.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty cards, I do like the wheat and use of copper embossing powder. Thanks for playing with us at Retro Rubber, come again soon!
ReplyDeleteThose coppery tones are so rich and gorgeous against the textured white, Darnell ... and what a yummy silhouette the wheatsheaf makes, all highlighted by that gorgeous, vibrant sun ... or moon ... or headlight (was I driving?!). What a fabulous photo ... looks as though you had yet more fun and laughter during the last leg of your trip ... happy times! LYAMYHMA ... hope you and Hammy are settling back into normal (hahaha!) life! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteTwo super beautiful cards that I find even attractive so no favorite, but two favorites :)! Enjoy being home again... Hugs, Gerrina

ReplyDeleteOh wonderful twofer cards -- I am partial to the GORGEOUS sunny bday card -- Thanks for joining in at STB.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, 2 gorgeous cards, love how different they look in copper and the black. What a fun time you must've had with Brenda and Co, I'm a bit slow with the joke though :( Maybe ços I'm downunder?!? Have a great week, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteOK. ROFL. I'll use that punchline too.
ReplyDeleteAnd get outta town - you had another lake house shindig! How wunnerful. Must go read more. And Michele with one L, might that be the lovely Michele from the lovely MI??? BTW, nice cards too ;) Diggin that sun. Which could very well double as a moon.
Was I driving?
I loved meeting Brenda my last Indy trip, so I know you 2 had fun--wish I'd been there! Think that's the same wheat stamp I have--need to use it! Your cards are just gorgeous, Darnell! Sweet of The Mister to hold down the fort so long, but I know both of you are glad to be back to normal life!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely wheat stamp you used on your cards sis! So tall and striking both embossed and in black - beautiful designs on both cards! Looks like you had a lovely time with some stamping friends! Thanks also for joining us in the CAS Mix Up!! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteLove your gold embossed wheat Darnell, wonderful designs. Thanks for sharing at CAS Mix Up.
ReplyDeleteJust dropping in to annoy you and offer my congratulations on your Work It Wednesday win at Simons. (Say that fast 3 times.)
ReplyDeleteWow Darnell, those copper tones on the textured white are so beautiful and elegant
ReplyDelete... and that big bright sun, from which the wheat stands out in silhouettes! - Simply awesome!
Hugs, Rosi
I love this card Darnell. That card base is so unique and allows the elegance of this gold accented piece justice. The tulle ribbon is truly the perfect compliment along with the sentiment, such a classical touch.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining us at CAS Mix Up! Always a pleasure xx
You have made that beautiful stamp shine in two very different ways! Love it in copper with the sheer ribbon and the fabulous textured paper! It also looks stunning as a black silhouette against the big sun/moon!
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you met more stamping friends! You sure packed a lot into that trip!
Hi Darnell you have used such delightful autumn colours on your lovely cards. Thanks so much for joining in with our Stamps and autumn challenge over at STAMPlorations xx
ReplyDeleteLove the tall wheat in Copper, such a different look compared to the black ink. Great to see you playing with us at STAMPlorations Theme and Sketch challenge :) and I had to giggle at your joke, 'was I driving' 😅😂
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards, but I especially love the one with the sun (or moon). It's so dramatic - it kind of tugs at my heartstrings.
ReplyDeleteI congratulate you, my friend, for winning the challenge Simon Says Work It Wednesday :-)
