Batchin' It With Christmas Cards

Hello Stamplings!

Gosh, how quiet Blogland is as we all hunker down to work on our cards! How are you doing with yours?

Over here it's been a week of interruptus and I need that right now like I need a bee in my bloomers.

First of all, on Sunday I cleaned up my desk feeling all smug because all my cards were sent out and I even had four left over. Then I discovered two sheets of labels that had slipped under other papers on my desk. 😱

Monday morning I walked into the Playhouse and was greeted by the sight of itty-bitty creepy ants all over the floor as they filed in out of the cold and rain. They were dispatched, but the Playhouse was filled with fumes so I did what I could in the Bighouse, which wasn't a whole lot. 😒

Tuesday was doctor appointments and then the faucet in the hall bathroom started dripping. That meant a lot of interruptions over several hours because the poor Mister ran into one problem after another with what "should have been a five-minute job! Bleep, bleep!" 😠

Yesterday, I slipped on the floor and wrenched most of my torso and all my extremities. Wait. What? Is that everything? Well, that's what it feels like. 😧

Some weeks are like that. That's why God invented potatoes. And people smart enough to turn potatoes into wodka. And, no, I hadn't been in the wodka before I fell.

Through it all, Hammy and I were not to be deferred and we managed to make more cards in between apostrophes:
Yes, more uber QACAS! This NBUS stamp from The Ton is so gorgeous simply heat-embossed. The sediment is from Stamping All Day.

This design was so easy, I made a bunch of them using different card and different e/p:

~~~
Then we cleaned off the table again and started this QACAS design:
This NBUS image and sediment are from the "Botanical Blocks IV" set from Papertrey Inc. I made a big batch of these in several colors, but I didn't get a chance to photograph them together because they were sent off as fast as they cooled off!
Then I took a break and went visiting and I saw this pretty card made by my friend Cat. Great minds! I realized that it would be even QACASier if I did it Cat's way, so I did:
Thank you for the inspiration, Cat! These cards were heat-embossed in platinum. It's simple, but very shiny and lovely in person. Sorry for the over-exposure. For some reason this card looked yellow and it's pure white so I brightened it. I took these photos inside on a cloudy day and it's the best I could do what with being gimpy and all.
Darnell,
Oh I am so sorry you had a slip. I hope you are feeling better and not sore or bruised. What a card-a-palooza you've got going there. Fabulous cards. I love what you did with the embossing on your The Ton stamp. It is gorgeous. Thanks too for the shout out. It was a day of great minds. Hugs and feel better soon if you aren't already. Hugs.
Oh Darnell, what a week!! No wonder you took to the Wodka... I hope Hammy was well clear when you slipped.... and I hope he has been helping you with all that embossing powder.
Wonderful cards, batch made or not. So elegant, and I must say I do love using heat embossing - it can make a statement without too much fuss
What a few days you've had Darnell, hope all is well now.
Love the TON stamp, so detailed and perfect for a quick make that looks as if it took hours of masking! :)
Busy busy you are Darnell. Go careful with those unruly floors. Some ice disguised itself as a small puddle this morning, but I got off lightly with just a small boo boo on my knee. Hope the wodka helped you feel better. Lovely cards. That frame stamp is beautiful. Embossing is a magical joy and delight. Was reading someones blog the other day and they said they had never heat embossed! For me it's like breathing!! But then again, I suppose lots of people have jumped out of planes, but I have never felt the need, so each to their own. Well done you on getting your cards almost done. I still need to make a few more LOL. Thanks for joining the fun at the Lost Coast Portal to Creativity Challenge. Hugz
Well Darnell...what a fabulous post but I have to say the Joy of Christmas does not seem apparent right now at your house..hope the run of things going wrong is all righted now and you are recovering from your fall...you need Vodka for the pain by the way!. On to your cards...fabulous, I love both designs. I do think simple and stunning says it all and I love these all in different colours.The second card is oh so classy...just like you! x I'm off now to the craft room....in panic mode as usual! Take care xx
Sounds like a week to make clear to you that you're lucky the other weeks :)
Love your first serie of cards! How easy it can be to give another feeling on a card by changing colours... Hugs, Gerrina (back to X-mascardmaking...)
Darnell, I am SO sorry to hear of your rough week and one that culminated in your getting hurt. Argh! I hope you feel better soon. That is so not fun during the busiest time of the year. You created a bevy of beautiful cards, though! They images are so detailed and they look gorgeous heat embossed. Thank you so much for sharing.
Ants and falls and all kinds of disasters. Yikes! I hope your body isn't suffering. Sometimes the next few days are the worst.
I love the embossing you did on all of these cards. They are so pretty. The copper colored one really caught my eye. My first thought when I saw the first black and white embossed card was wouldn't that be fun to color it in with my Zigs? So, now we'll have to send everyone embossed cards that they have to color and send them back to you next year. [Bunny]`````````
I hope your torso and extremities are not so sore today, Dolly! Ouch! So glad it didn't stop you from creating fantastic Christmas cards. The frame of poinsettias is gorgeous in every color and I love the simplicity of the framed holly both ways. Hmmm, I think I may need to add that holly to my wish list. Be careful my friend.
WOW! You have been a busy little bee! I love all your cards, quite simple but stunning with
the embossing. The "Batchin" cards are awesome, almost the same but not quite!!!
Wow Darnell, considering you have had a bit of a difficult week these beautiful cards have been fairly leaping out of those creative fingers. I love all the batch makes and that pretty stamp from The Ton works equally well on all the different colour cards and with a variety of embossed finishes, and the holly panel looks great too, again another great design for a batch make. Sorry to hear you slipped and ended up aching from head to toe and hope that soon subsides. x
Sorry about the fall, but you are tough and will recover soon. Ok, I am stupid and I give up. What does QACAS stand for? CAS is clean and simple, but cannot figure out the QA.
Holy moly! You and Hammy have sure been busy...creating in the midst of havoc. Love the cards. I didn’t have many to mail this year and got them all done sometime ago. So they went out in this past monday’s mail. I’ve been busy taking skillshare classes during my 2 month free trial and posting on Instagram. IG is just so much easier for me to use one handed. Since I now have to take pics with my phone and then post fairly quickly. Hope you can sit back and relax with a wodka now. Take care! Hugs from the FL Girls and me. ;)
You are the Queen of multiples, my friend:-) Yesterday I finished either mailing or getting my cards ready to hand deliver and discovered I still had 5 more on my list, so...today, I am going to make some multiples. OK, when I saw this in my email I thought it said "Bitchin' it with Christmas cards" - not that you are in any way, but my goodness, after all that stuff!! I hope your body feels better and that you & Hammy can breathe again! Love, love, love , LOVE your cards - but that shouldn't surprise you. Gentle hugs my friend <3
Gorgeous image from THE TON for making batch cards Dolly! The image looks amazing in all the different colours of card and colours of embossing powder. I bet you were devastated when you found the two sheets of labels ... uggghhh! Hopefully you are all finished with your mailing now and you can be smug because many of us are still finishing up.
The second card is also a beautiful QACAS card. Again, this pretty holly image would look amazing in so many different colours. Awdesome design by Cat to add a tiny, but large impact of red berries. Love it! Lolly xx
Oh Auntie, I hate to hear you have fallen!!! Glad you didn't break anything. I too, fell on Sunday. Scraped and bruised up from my ear to the foot on the left side. Glad I didn't break anything either. Love the cards, they are just beautiful. I am making more Christmas cards as well, especially since Kahlua join the family. lol Got up from my seat to go cut something and the little stinker stole my roll of postage stamps and my glittered stars! Stamps are not cheap and I lost a few, but got most of them back. Lost heat on evening in to the next day but my furnace guy got me back up and running thankfully. So I understand all your interruptions!!! I guess we will get everything done for Christmas...as long as we can stay up right on our two feet! lol Love and hugs, Brenda
Oh goodness Darnell, this is definitely the week that was! I do hope you are not suffering too much after your fall..... :(
If all those things happened to me I would not have been able to make even one card, never mind all of those you did - they are all beautiful! I loved seeing them all lined up too. Gentle Hugs, Annie xxx
WOW, what a beautiful set of Christmas cards, Darnell! I want to be just like your crafty self when I grow up ;-) Making several cards from one stamp/design in different colors=genius! I like your CAS cards with Botanical Block, also.
PS: Hope you are healing from your fall and also hope this week is going to go smoother for you!
Kathleen said...
My words, what a week, hope your extremities are feeling better and your torso too.
The first set of card are totally stunning, beautiful images and gorgeous embossing and your QACAS are also fabulous, more simple but equally effective.
Your card arrived today, thank you so much it is lovely.
Had your card out on where I put things to post as our post office is also where Chris gets his morning paper, forgot to take it for 3 days but should still arrive in time,
You know, you did the week backwards. If you HAD to fall you could have fallen on the ants and left the faucet run long enough to wash them away and you would have been done all in one fell swoop. (so to speak). I hope you are okay and the soreness is gone. Your cards are beautiful. I love that stamp from the TON and it made gorgeous cards in all different colors. I like simple and they sure fit the bill. The second design is lovely and quick too. Great job. Hugs and healing.
You've had a very interesting week my friend. :-) I hope you have not hurt yourself and your Mister has finished a five-minute job until now. :-) I have to tell a similar story about my week. I have almost demolished a big shopping center by stepping too soon out of the door. Someone put a glass wall on my way... :-)
I have not finished yet all my christmas cards. But those who have a long way to do are already on the way. :-)
You've done a great job with heat embossing, Darnell. Wonderfull cards in different colours and really amazing christmas motiv. The last two cards are my favourites. Simply wonderfull!
Have a great day!
What a wonderful array of last minute Christmas cards, and they're all wonderful too! So sorry for the slip and wretch mishap - I sure hope you're feeling better soon. My whole body has been hurting for the past few days and I didn't slip, but I think I'm groaning every time I have to move :) I think it's time to hit that wodka or maybe do one a little better. Fireball shots anyone? LOL
Well, look at you knocking out tons of fabulous cards while attending to household difficulties. Geez, you've really had a week, haven't you. I hope you aren't to damaged by you fall and that it's getting better between the ants and drips and whatever else life is throwing at you. It doesn't appear that it held back your creativity, at all.
So sorry you've had such a rough week, but your cards are all wonderful! Hope you recover quickly from your fall. I know when I go crashing down, the first thing I think is, "Geez, I hope no one saw that!!!" And that's only because I know what a big, dumb dufus I look like when I tumble. I haven't actually fallen for quite a while now (fingers crossed and knock on wood), and I'm hoping to maintain that winning stretch for the rest of the season.
Good grief girl...Don't you know it's the vodka first, then the falling??!! So sorry you fell and hurt your chest area. And for those ants, and that the Mister had to fix the bleeping faucet. Bonus that they're QACAS, too. They are so pretty!! There will be some lucky mailboxes this Christmas. And don't make me pick between those two holly cards, either. I look up and like the green one; I look down and like the white one...You've got a great eye, my sweetie pie. Hope you're feeling better by today, and sorry I didn't get here until now. Oh what a week you've had! I really hope you are on the mend. I did my back in last week moving the evil sofa of doom, which we are now selling very cheaply on eBay as it's done my back in twice. I can highly recommend Pilates for being amazing at helping all maner of injuries!
What an amazing array of cards and a great job done. I have a sizeable amount still to make so they will be going on the last post this year. I have sent yours off before the deadline so I actually think I might make it! Thank you so much for yours. It makes me smile on the mantelpiece. xxx
Batchin it is a funny term, but it is so fitting! Each and every one of these is stunning!
Jen W. said...
Ack! What a week! I'm pretty sue I'd have given up on it and spent the rest of it safely on the sofa with a pooch and a long book!
How's everything feeling after the wrenching of extremities? Not fun!
I am with you on the ants. Usually they're a nightmare here in the summer but for some reason this year they've switched it up and have been impossible to corral the last couple of months. I hate having to spray them due to the fumes but sometime you gotta show them whose boss! We also had to close off the (ANCIENT) heater vent in our bathroom wall as suddenly cockroaches and giant centipedes have started using it as an entrance to the house. (We've had this house since 1980 and it has never happened before). Thankfully Ella's letterbox is stationed below it so they fall in there and can't get out due to the slippery plastic sides. Oy vey.
You're batches of cards are as yummy as batches of cookies and look gorgeous lined up in the sun.
I hope this week is full of sunshine, rainbows and perhaps a lottery win - you deserve it after last week!!
