Hello Stamplings!
Real quick, honest, I promise, here are some Christmas cards I made with trees on them:
These designs arose from that line of evergreen trees which came from NBUS stamp I purchased on my fall trip. It is E7724 from Impression Obsession. I kept the color schematic of blues and greens on all the cards, changing up the designs as you see and using different technicurls of scoring, schplattering, Clarity brush blending, debossing, die-cutting, and sediments. For each design, the trees were direct-to-stamp colored, spritzed, and stamped.
Sometimes it's fun to do batch-making and sometimes it's fun to see how many different designs you can make with one stamp. I got a nice fourfer out of this sitting!
Challenges
- CAS on Friday: Make a Christmas card #2.
- Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Christmas.
- Stinkin' Inkers: Winter wonderland.
- Use Your Stuff: Christmas/Holidays.

The star of the show for these QACAS designs is the NBUS Washi tape from the Impress stamp store in Seattle. It is wide and schparkly and divine in person. I found several shades of icy blue ancient cardstock in my stash that worked perfectly with the colors in the tape. The white heat-embossed sediment on all the cards is from Penny Black's "Full of Merriment" set.
Hammy had the day off from winking, but wants to say hello and cheer you on with your holiday preptivities!
Is he smoking a cigar? Playing the flute? No, it's just a lovely expensive seedling that he only gets at Christmas time because it comes from Madagascar and has to be flown overnight in a refrigerated case on a sleigh pulled by eight tiny reindeer.

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
I'll be taking a bloggie break except to pop back in on Christmas Day. The grandtwins turn 14 tomorrow (!) so between that and Christmas, there will be lots of family celebrating in the next coupla weeks. Even so, I hope to find time to visit and catch up with those of you I've neglected during this busy year. Mwah!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards with the IO stamp Darnell! I have that stamp too and need to use it more often!! Love the washi tape cards too! Have a wonderful Christmas break and celebrating with the twins too! And thank you SO MUCH for the stamp...arrived yesterday and I will try to put it to good use before I forward it on too! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to bundle up and wander through allll your gorgeous forests! The washi tape trees are especially eye-catching!
ReplyDeleteI'm still in the midst of making/sending cards, as my entire stash that I 'thought' I'd share with mom went entirely to her. Don't mind in the least: she was thrilled to send them and I thrilled to make more (frantic though that may be). Good thing Canada Post is still experiencing backlogs...I can use that as a 'partial' excuse for my cards that are sure to arrive late *grin*
hugs~c
I'm back: Happy 14th B-Day to the twins! How did that happen so fast! All this growing up...eeek! Enjoy all the celebrations!
ReplyDeletehugs~c
Where do you find the time. I know Hammy helps but I'm practically hanging from the ceiling here and you're producing this awesome forest of cards. That washi is beyond beautiful...and you've enhanced it nicely. Hope your not suffering through this horrible weather (NOT!) we're having and that your Christmas plans come off without a hitch.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous array of cards Darnell and I adore those pretty IO trees on the first batch, and that sparkly washi tape is adorable on the last few, and you always manage to find some beautiful coloured card that goes perfectly, and some lovely sentiments too. ReplyDeleteThis are trees for the whole forest, dear Darnell. :-) It is amazing, how the coloring technique can make a totally different look of the same stamp.
Washi tape on your second set of cards is fabulous. You've used this tape in a very smart way. I like this cards. :-)
Greetings to Hammy. It seams he is in Christmas spirit already. :-)

ReplyDeleteAs they say in France Tree's Bien, well nearly. Great selection of cards and colours.
ReplyDeleteKath x
Having grown up on the Great Plains, your lines of trees remind me of the windbreaks we use to see on every farm. Trees are a precious commodity there, so mature lines or groves of trees were very special. Your cards are wonderful, as always. And that tape! OMG, what beautiful tape!!! That was a real find, and it makes the prettiest cards. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
ReplyDeleteThese are all wonderful, Darnell. The trees are dreamy and I love the colors. Beautiful, beautiful....Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Darnell, I was trying to figure out if the second one was Washi tape, now I know! :) Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOh these are simply gorgeous, Darnell! I love the IO trees stamp ~ such a pretty set of winter wonderland cards. The Direct-To-Stamp" technique looks fun (and dare I say easy).

ReplyDeleteAwesome collection of tree cards, Darnell. Love the colors and the variations on the cards. Wonderful. Have fun on your bloggie break - I take way too many of those. Hugz and Merry Christmas!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the combinations of green and blue trees on the first serie, but the blue ones (blue is my favo colour) are the beauties for me... Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteWonderful line of fir trees, Darnell on your QACAS cards! The spritzing adds the perfect zing to their look. It inspired me to look through my drawer of old wood Christmas stamps (yes, I have 200+ WS) and color/spritz/stamp a snowy Hero Arts village in blues. Happy birthday with your handsome 14 year olds!! what a great age to be (for them)!!
ReplyDeleteBoth sets of cards are gorgeous Darnell and amazing to see how much can be created with one set. I have a little tree stamp from Altenew that would work well for this sort of thing - as usual it's been gathering dust since the one and only time I used it. sigh. Next year I need to do better at using things more than one. or not using them at all! We live in hope! Happy Christmas to you and yours, hope you have a fabulous holiday and birthday celebrations abound! Lisa xx
ReplyDeleteWOW! What a lot of trees ..... and each design is stunning. Great techniques too, it's always amazing how the same stamp can look so different depending how you use it.

Gosh, Darnell, your own stamped trees are some pretty stiff competition for the Washi tape, which is certainly gorgeous! I dearly love the blues and greens together. There is definitely some magic happening on all your cards. Merry Christmas to you and Hammy and the whole family, and happy birthday to the twins!
ReplyDeleteOH, I love all your beautiful trees, Darnell!! Super wonderful cards, each and every one of them!
ReplyDeleteGlorious trees, great designs and love the watercolour effect of the stamping.
ReplyDeleteWow to that washi tape......I should have scrolled down further because I tried long and hard to see how you did the stamping etc and how you got them to look all the same......then read on to discover that beautiful tape X
