Happy New Year 2019!

Hello Stamplings!

Hmm, this is a rather disturbing start to a new year in terms of my mental antiquity, seeing as how I'm a day late sharing my Happy New Year card with you. Hopefully some of you won't notice I'm late because you spent yesterday gleefully crafting while your hubby was enjoying a whole day of sports on TV!

What happened was, I went looking for something that I was pretty sure I had, but I couldn't remember which cupboard or drawer it was in and as I moved this bit and shuffled that bit, a crapalanche happened and I only just crawled out a half hour ago to write this post.

So here you go ...
The happy die from PTI is ages old and cut from linen paper. The New Year sediment embossed in platinum is NBUS from Lawn Fawn and the little bow tie is NBUS from Memory Box. The background panels are a glossy patterned platinum and a beautiful metallic blue.

You can see the purdy sheen better in this photo:

I'd better get back to my mess. I'm so glad it happened because there is something about the start of a new year and a clean slate that gets me excited about starting my spring cleaning now. I'll be back in a few days and please don't worry about Hammy. Ever since that Purge of '08, I always take him up to the Big House for safe-keeping with the Mister!

~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
I hope this is your best year yet!
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!
  1. This must be a first, Darnell ... I'm first!! This is so stylish and rather dashing ... the shimmer is gorgeous ... and that little bow tie adds a touch of fun to the elegant look! Glad you made it out of the crapalanche unscathed ... take care going back in there ... you never know what might be lurking in those hidden depths! I've said it already, though it's worth saying it again ... wishing you Bonne Année ... and especially Bonne Santé in 2019! LYAMYHMA ... LFTOCT! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
  3. Happy New year Darnell. I think when it's my time to leave this mortal coil I would like it to be by being buried under a crapalanche of craft stuff. And no, I didn't spend yesterday crafting, I spent it cooking Christmas Dinner, a week late, because this year we did it twice in two different countries.
  9. Happy New Year Darnell. I think you need to write a dictionary. A crapalanche is a fabtastically descriptive term that suits my desk perfectly at the moment. Luckily I have no hamsters, although the cat was in there the other day gingerly picking her way across the unstable scree. Hugz
  10. Gotta love the word "crapalanche"! Gave me a nice giggle this morning, it did. So descriptive and one I'm definitely adding to my vocabulary. Thank you!
    Oh yes, love your pretty card too. I do like flowers and lacy things but clean simple lines in pretty colors are a refreshing option too.
  14. What would we all do without your fun, and perhaps a little mad, take on life Darnell, and I had a bit of a crapalanche going myself before Christmas which had my Misti sat on top and which all toppled on to the floor nd unfortunately my Misti did suffer damage to one of the hinges which luckily wasn't terminal but I asvery cross with myself for sitting it on top of an unstable pile. I love your new year card which is very pretty and would like to wish you and the family a really Happy New Year. x
  17. Wow, what a way to start the year off! A crapalanche and starting spring cleaning. I'm so happy you were able to escape unscathed and able to craft again. The card is so sparkly and elegant and all dressed up for the New Year. Lucky Hammy was safe and didn't have to wink since you used such gorgeous metallic paper. Love you and looking forward to fun with you this year. Meeting you was so fantastic and I hope we can do it again. That was my bucket list to meet you and now I've amended it to meet all my wonderful blog friends.
  19. Happy New Year to you, too. I love reading your posts, and then I love to read all of the comments. I was wondering if most crafters have the potential for a crapalanche in there craft space. I know I certainly do!
    I'm happy to see that PTI die used for your card, mine is hiding somewhere, and I think I will have to find it and try it out again. Thank you for all your fun inspiration.
  23. If it's on the floor you have more room everywhere else for more schtuff??? And much easier to scrabble about when it's all in a heap instead of trying to be a tidy person... (I speak from experience)
    Lovely new year card - and Happy wotsit to you too. xx
  24. I'm glad you weren't injured in your crapalanch, they are're the natural disaster of craft rooms.
  25. Gee, I hope the Mister sent in a St. Bernard with a cask of revival brandy for you! Or would you still be under the pile if he had (like I would be...)??! So I'm assuming that you made this beauty and crawled out at the same time. It's gorgeous, and that shimmery sheen is stunning. Perfect New Year's card. LOVE it! xo Talk soon. bkb
  39. Well I sorted the wardrobe out today and what I want to know is if I managed to fill a bin bag of clothes for the charity shop then how come when I put the rest back I still had a pile over with no where to put them!!! I'm a bit worried that when I tackle the junk/priceless objects on my desk I will have the same problem. Then there is the little matter of all those darn ducks too not to mention all the eggs they keep laying. Wishing you a very crafty New Year. Hugs Anne.
  47. You're a master at creating new words and "crapalanch" is fantastic. I'm definitely going to add that one to my crafting vocabulary. Your card is so creative, bringing all those dies and papers together in one glossily gorgeous card. I love it!
  48. Thank you, Cheryl, but I can't take credit for creating crapalanche. Well, I mean, yes, I did create a crapalanche, but not the word! I first saw it via Pixie's Crafty Workshop and I think it was coined by my friend Sarn there, but I'm not a hunnert percent if it was her. I love it, too! Hugs, Darnell
    It must be the season because I have been in clean the clutter mode beginning in my closet. Next my guest/craft room and I have rearranged and purged many stamps which I will sell at the next craft sale.
    Hope the new year is wonderful for you and all the Knausses.
    The cards are charming.
What a fun and cute little card to celebrate 2019 and thanks too for the anniversary wishes! It's been quite a hectic and eventful holiday season, and I too am ready for some house-cleaning. All I have to do is start...........somewhere...........today............or maybe tomorrow? Anyone wanna join my procrastinators club?
  54. I'm glad you managed to crawl out from under the crapalanche and that Hammy is safe! I always go on a cleaning binge in the new year, too. I started mine yesterday when I put Christmas away. Very thorough and detailed like a woman possessed. I've got a long way to go before I start on my stamp room, but it also needs a good cleaning. Anyway, you're very thoughtful to make a new year's card to wish us all a happy 2019. More NBUS found its way to the fore and it looks pretty fabulous all dressed up with the sheeny paper and pert little bow tie. Happy new year to you, Darnell!
