Hello Stamplings!
How are you? Is your day just starting or are you getting ready to shut down for the evening? I suspect that no matter what happens to us throughout the day, we all like to do the same routine when we wake up each day and go to bed each night. There is comfort in that.
Before I turn off the computer at night and get ready for bed, I play a coupla computer card games. They say you shouldn't go to bed directly after having screen time (unless "screen time" is an ooh-phemism for something else๐), but those card games signal my brain that it's done for the day. My shoulders relax, my eyelids get droopy ... hey, sorry, wake up, you haven't seen my cards yet!

The theme for this month's Twofer Card Challenge is BIRDS!
The stamp that both my cards have in common is "Pecking Order" by Carolyn Shores Wright for Stamps Happen.
My onefer ...
I stamped the image on creamy watercolor paper and painted it with my Ziggies. This is a vo stamp that I continue to love every time I use it. This time I added the sediment by using a smile e/f as a border. On the inside, this card will wish someone a happy birthday ~ with a smile!
Challenges
And my twofer ...
Challenges
- Crazy for CAS: Animals.
- Seize the Birthday: Anything goes. Optional topping of confetti. Welcome, Cathy!
To make this fun second design, I stamped the same image on a snippet of paper and then I Ziggified and fussy-cut the top bird to use. I die-cut the card base and added the bit of snippet behind the aperture which I sponged with a cloud stencil. Then I added the Peek-a-Boo Wonky Stitched Frame from MFT and perched the fat little robin on top of the edge.
I added one of my favorite snarky sediments from River City Rubber Works and handed the card over to Hammy for winking:
I'm sending this card off to encourage someone who could use a belly laugh waiting for her in her mailbox.

How will you play with your bird stamp, stencil, or die to make two different cards for two different occasions? I can't wait to see!! Please check out the Twofer blog for all the details and to see the fantastic double designs created by the talented Design Team and our two amazing Guest Designers this month: Izzy and Sonja! Thank you!

Oh, hold up one sec. I had so much fun with the Pecking Order image, it reminded me I had this great Bluebird image from Carolyn Shores Wright which also fits the snarky sediment perfickly:

I liked the way this turned out so I made a threefer to share. But don't be confused: this threefer is not a Twofer because the designs are identical!
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Thank you, also, for your support of my Twofer challenge! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!

What wonderful cards, I love your birdies. And I know a stamp that sentiment would work *extremely* well with!

I'm grinning and a giggling over here Darnell. I like how you have a routine to signal the end of the day. Mine is reading a book in bed. If I don't read, I can't fall asleep! So, whatever works for you. :) The stamp you used for the twofer is adorable. I really feel for the birdie on the bottom. She looks positively smooooshed. And a tad grumpy. Who could blame her. Love how you colored the images with your Zigs. So bright and cheerful. Your twofer makes me grin. Love the snarky sentiment. The expressions on your images show so much personality. And how fun that you got that extra trio of delight in there, too. You were busy! Thanks so much for sharing and for the giggles. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's the 10th of January already! Gee whiz, slow down this world somebody - I can't keep up anymore! LOL Love the birds, especially the gossip sentiment - too funny :) great twofer and a great set of cards to boot! Well done my friend :)
ReplyDeleteLove all 5 cards and the snarky sentiment too! xoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards and I love those quirky birds. They make me smile! We've got snow up to our elbows and I am sure looking forward to seeing robins again...
ReplyDeleteYour cutie birds certainly make me smile. Great coloring.
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards Darnell - love the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteKath x
Cute cards. Love the sentiment. Do come sit next to me...........ha ha ha!
ReplyDeleteWonderful selection of cards Darnell, I love the bird images an the lovely colours you've chosen. The sentiment is brilliant, makes one smile. Hope you are well and enjoying the start of the year, Kate x
ReplyDeleteThose birds are hilarious, Darnell! I've got to check out that artist. I love your coloring on all of them, but I am so drawn to the colors on your birthday card! Your snarky sentiment is too funny! I can also see that last bird saying, "Well, I don't know about that!"
ReplyDeleteOkay I am not a bird stamp person mostly because the coloring confuses me. I have a few (penguins are critters not birds in my book.)
ReplyDeleteYour cards might make me take a second look at birds...they are darling and when paired with snark...well they are freaking fabulous. Love the twofer and your three extras with that snooty bird...LOVE.
However did you know I needed this belly laugh in my INBOX!? Though you did have a few nice things to say when I sat by you!
ReplyDeleteFabulous feathered feature, fantastic friend!
=] M
Bird pile...They're a hoot (even though they're not owls...)all stacked up like that. And if I have misspellings, I'm wearing old glasses as new lenses are going into the old frames, so forgive me. LOVE your watercoloring on these birds, and the embossed smile is a brilliant way to add a sentiment without detracting from the stack 'o birds. And you've got that one sweet one perfectly perched on that wonky frame! Snort worthy sentiment, too!! Do come sit by me! And dang, if you didn't go all birdy and make some snotty birds with that same fun sentiment! I can just hear the nasally tone, too. Fabulous cards one and all!!! Bev
ReplyDeleteFun, fun, fun! Can't help but laugh when you see these cute birds ... especially balanced on top of each other. Awesome sentiment for the second card that made me laugh. Thanks Dolly! Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteI can't help but love these birds! It's good to see the old Stamps Happen 'cause they happen to be some of my favorite old stamps. Wish I'd gotten more at the time as they appear to be collectors items now. Your birds are a colorful treat any which way you use them, and the bonus cards, sigh... I devour them with my eyes! Really love that sentiment, too! Thanks for having me on the team, Darnell. This is going to be great fun!
ReplyDeleteFabulous bird cards, Darnell! Beautiful coloring with your Zigs and your snarky sentiment is just perfect! Thanks for making me smile and for inspiring me to play along!
ReplyDeleteHow fun to get so into your cute and snarky bird images that you ended up with..I think, 5 cards for your stash:-) TFS all your cute cards, Dolly. I am inspired:-) Love and Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Darnell and so colourful too! l love that image and how you stacked the birds so creative you are.....my routine is very simple get up eat and then retire lol...l couldn't sleep if l was to use the computer late at night we are not all the same but then l hardly ever get a full nights sleep so if it doesn't effect your sleeping pattern maybe l should switch mine on too and play a few games take care ending lots of love x
ReplyDeleteA whole bunch of fun cards, Darnell. These quirky birds and snarky sentiments made me smile.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your day. xx
That tower of bluebirds is something to smile about, Darnell. Fussy cutting one off to make a robin couldn't have been easy but you're a great surgeon.
ReplyDeleteAt the time you went to dream, my day already has started with a lot of numbers and tasks. :-) Somewhere in between I succeeded to publish my post. :-)
ReplyDeleteYour birds twofer is so cute and nice, that makes me smile. The sentiment on your second card is great. Birds on both cards are perfectly colored. Also the three cards with the same design and the same sentiment in three difrent colors are amazing.
Have a nice day!
Hugs,
Sonja
Okay, I'm loving these birds! Too fun! All your cards are FABulous, Darnell! Sure to make someone smile! ;) And usually I watch a little TV before bed and then I start dozing off...though, I'd be lying if I said I hadn't played games on my phone and had my phone drop because off nodding off. lol
ReplyDeleteHave a great day, my friend! Hugs
What a fun and feathered trip through your post. As you know, I love all birds so this Twofer should inspire me. I can see, it certainly inspired your cells. Both these cards are adorable...and who wouldn't love that sentiment.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards, Darnell. These birds are very funny! Love the blue pile of birds on your first card. The sentiment on your second card made me laugh. I’m so happy to be guest designing with you all, thank you so much for inviting me. I’ve had fun doing this card. Hugs x
ReplyDeleteWell, you certainly made me smile on a dull, damp day! The birds in the tower are just the cutest ever and that snarky comment - I would love to send that to someone I know - tee hee! The bluebird is so lovely too!
ReplyDeleteHammy always does such a great job with the winking too, please give him my compliments! Hugs, Annie xxx
I always love birds and your stamps are so fun! :D Lovely all the cards, you have made a great work with them! Great colouring, too! Love especially that hilarious pile of birds of the first one, they make me laugh :D
ReplyDeleteHugs
How sweet your bird image is Darnell and love the pile of birds on the first and then the other looks great with it sitting over the edge of the frame, and the sentiment is fabulous. Your third non-twofer card is also extremely cute and I think the three versions are so bright and beautiful and all five cards with wonderful colouring. x
ReplyDeleteThose chubby little birds just make me smile! These are fabulous Darnell!
ReplyDeleteOH my I do feel for the little guy on the bottom, great group of cards and twofer :)
ReplyDeleteSuch fun cards!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I'm lovin' those birds. Especially their plumpness - as happens to a lot of us "old birds" as we enter the golden years (that is what they call them, isn't it?). Your cards are fab and will surely bring some smiles. I, too, play a computer card game at the end of the day. It is sort of my "sign off" activity. Great minds think alike, and all that...
ReplyDeleteLOVE these adorable birds! They're such sweet little critters with such cute expressions. And your coloring is wonderful! Fabulous sentiment too!
ReplyDeleteYippee skippee!! a fun new challenge.
ReplyDeleteThe images you used are so stinking cute! They are shaped like me! LOL Beautifully colored too my friend! : )
Oh, these are fabulous. I love the colouring and those bird stamps rock !!! :-D xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a funny image & fun cards, Darnell!
ReplyDeleteFabulous! And I love that you've used a very old stamp and that sentiment which is brilliant. And never feel bad about doing what you enjoy at the end of the day if it doesn't impact on you. My kids get a little screen time before bed and it doesn't seem to do them a whole lot of harm. The fact they get very little during the day may have something to do with it! xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful cards Darnell - and I am so glad to see you are still using Hammy's awesome winking skills!
ReplyDeleteOf the three, the final one is my favourite, the haughty attitude of the bird paired with the snarky sentiment is fabulous!
Blessings
Maxine
Oh my... I just love these cards! Beautifully done Darnell and so adorable!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I too play card games on my iPod before I go to sleep and really finds it helps. Have a lovely day!
One word: prolific. Cute cards, and I may have one of her stamps. :)
ReplyDeleteWell these beauties definitely made me smile. I love those birds and the sentiment too. Great job my friend xx
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, both of these cards make me smile! I love that bird image Auntie! Stacked up they crack me up, and even one cracks me up. Too cute, so different and perfect twofer for the challenge. Now I will have to see if I can even think of anything to do. Then you go and make a threefer! Not challenge worthy because they are all the same, but just as cute! That sentiment totally cracks me up. Yes, I play June's Journey on the tablet and read a bit if I can hold the eyes open. So I don't have any issues with the "blue" light either. But it is the way I wound down as well. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteThree fantastic cards, Darnell. They are all fun. I really like the blues in the last one. Hope things are going well for you my friend.
ReplyDeleteYour cards sure brought a smile to my face Darnell........love that fun birdy stamp and how you fussy cut it out on the second wonderful card. Great combination of stamping, colouring and love the smile sentiment on the first fabulous card. You spoilt us with the three fun and identical cards so thank you for the extra fabulous inspiration too X
ReplyDeleteOoh these cards are all such fun and made me smile lots! Thank you my friend, a smile is just what we all need! I read before I go to sleep. I don't usually look at blogs but needed to catch up on a couple tonight before I read! Hugs xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteThese birds are the cutest ever, Dolly! I love the way you've painted them in uplifting colors! They make me feel good just looking at them!
ReplyDeleteOh my, Darnell, this stack of birds is so fun! I love their claws (or feet) on top of the heads of the others. No wonder they have that look on their faces! The sentiment is a crack up and the last bird on the threefer has the perfect look on his face for that. It is a snarky look for sure. We have several inches so far this morning.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous fun cards Darnell, especially the one with birdies sitting on each others heads. As for routine.... body doesn't seem to understand that word at the moment!! xx
ReplyDeleteJust fab all the cards you made - lovely. Hope to be popping over too.
ReplyDeleteHey Darnell, If you have time, can you holler back to me and let me know if this comment goes through. I seem to be having issues leaving comments....ugh. bkb
ReplyDeleteI play solitaire before bed. It helps my mind to unwind. Now about those cards....๐๐๐๐. Beautifully colored and full of mirth. Hugs to my friend.
ReplyDeleteOh these are fab, love Carolyn Shores Wright style when I’m in the mood for colouring, and of course, am in love with the snarky sediment!
ReplyDeleteEven though I have extreme bird terror, yours have brought a mega watt smile to my face! They're all delightful!
ReplyDeleteApologies for being so MIA; heaping plate of stuff in general and a new puppy - Lily - specifically, keeping us on our toes! We are in LOVE with our little girl! LOVE!
hugs and love,
~c
Great card to participate in our Crazy for CAS-challenge. Like the vibrant colors you used! Hugs, Claudia from Crazy for CAS
ReplyDeletegorgeous collection of cards!
ReplyDeletehugs
Hahahahaha, Darnell ... great post, brilliant cards! Love that stack of vibrant birds ... such delicious colouring that had me studying each one (poor thing at the bottom with especially squashed eyes and beak!) ... and so perfect with the simple, crisp, embossed 'smile' sentiment! Hammy did a great job winking that cute robin ... the wonky frame suits this little bird's style wonderfully ... and what a riot that sentiment is! Bluebird threefer ... yum ... more splendid plumage ... they strike me as chickie sisters ... Odessa, Olivia and Odile perhaps ... or something like that! LYAMYMA! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteLove your cards with those fun bird images and the snarky sentiments. They looks so cute stacked on one another. Thanks for sharing with us at Seize the Birthday.
ReplyDeleteSuch fun cards.
ReplyDeleteThe threefor look suits the sentiment perfectly - but you knew that already! :)
Darnell, beautiful greeting cards with birds.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice words on my blog and thank you for becoming my followers. Hugs, Zvonka from Slovenia.
Well you totally ROCKED this bird challenge!! I adore the layered birds and the coloring you did. That card is STUNNING. The second card that you Ziggified is darling. That sentiment totally rocks!! And the threefor you made with that amazing bird image? Totally BREATHTAKING!!! Love, love, love!!
ReplyDeleteDarling birdie cards, Darnell - so sweet!! Especially love the stack of birds but the birdie in the stitched window is so sweet too! Happy New Year to the Twofer challenge - so glad this fun challenge is back for 2019!!
