Hello Stamplings,
Oh, dear, that hasn't happened for years. My whole post just went belly up and disappeared. Pfft! And I was all finished. Total operator error, I'm sure, but that doesn't give me any solace, especially since I'm not sure prezackly what I did wrong. Since everything I write is spontaneous, it's weird to start over so we'll just move on as soon as Hammy returns with my wodka. Thank you, buddy.
Okay, that's better. Here's my Onefer:
Challenges
~~~
Caught this little guy on the fence yesterday. Don't know whose yard the orange came from, but you can't blame him for stealing it. This is, after all, cold and flu season!
It's hard to get more QACAS than this card with no stamping on it. This lovely friendship text paper (from PTI?) is from my stash. The NBUS die cut called "Sweet Tulip" is from Simon Says Stamp. I'm tickled to say that I haven't had it on Mt. NBUS for two years like usually happens. In fact, it only arrived a few days ago! The sediment is a store-bought button, also ancient and also from my stash. I backed it with a matching stitched circle die cut.
BTW, I just found out I have a Super Power! Yup, I do. I have the uncanny ability to complete the purchase of craft items online just hours before they go on sale! It happens with different companies and this is the third time in a row that it has happened with SSS! (Don't tell the Mister.)
Challenges
- Double D Challenges: Pink and white.
- The Flower Challenge: Use your latest stamps or dies.
- Inkspirational:
Text.Designer's choice: Use your stash. - Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: No stamps allowed.
- Stamp Ink Paper: Monochromatic.
See, now the title of my post makes sense! This card is a reminder of the Best Friends challenge currently going on at Words 2 Craft By (W2CB) where I have the pleasure of being the Guest Designer this month!
The NBUS girlfriends and the sediment are from the Art Impressions stamp set called "Laughing." It was a gift from my friend Brenda when I went to visit her last fall. (Thank you, mf!) I paper-pieced and Ziggified the girls and then I masked them in order to brush antique linen Oxi ink through a water drop stencil to make the background. The panel was then inked around the edge and adhered to the card base.
I hope you'll be able to make a friendship and/or kindness card and play along this month at W2CB!
Challenges
- Addicted to Stamps: Anything but a square.
- Mod Squad: Brand name clear or rubber stamps.
- Pixie's Snippets Playground: Anything goes with snippets.
- The Library Challenge: Spark Joy by Marie Kondo. (Title.)
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards!LOVE the paper piecing! Yes polka dots and of course the purple rinse 😄
I laughed when read you buy stuff just B4 the sale, welcome to my world :) There are cyber stealth out there that say she's hit buy now lower the price :)
ReplyDeleteLove your cards Darnell, BTW I'm sure Costco has adult dipers on sale occasionally :)
Oh no, the whole SSS was on sale too! Darn it all. And sorry you lost your post ... I know it was chock full of nuggets. BUT, your cards are lovely, so there's that! Your paper pieced girlfriends look like they're having a blast, as everyone tends to do around you : ) Hugs to you! Kelly
ReplyDeleteLove your spring-like tulip card - I saw it in my blog feed and popped over to admire it and now I see you have entered it into our text, I mean Use Your Stash challenge at Inkspirational so thanks for that!
ReplyDeleteI love your funny 'tears' card too. Have a lovely day.
What marvellous cards Darnell - Love the way you have used the SSS die, leaving the petals in the die cut. Stunning and so creative. The girls remind me of my friend and I last night ... no tears down our legs, but definitely down our faces!!
ReplyDeleteGood to see Hammy is back on the job
Blessings
Maxine
I don't know whether to laugh first or cry first.... so sorry about your post, that is so annoying! You did a great recovery job though, your first card is so beautiful, I love that paper (thought it was a stamp), so perfect for a friend.
ReplyDeleteYour second card is such fun, it certainly made me laugh, such a great sentiment! Love the picture of the squirrel too, hope the orange keeps those germs at bay for him/her. Big hugs, Annie xxx
Two fantastic cards Darnell, I love the paper on the top card and the gorgeous tulip die. Then again I love the wonderful stamp you've used on the bottom card. The photo of the squirrel on your fence is great, I've never seen one with an orange before, but maybe that's because we don't have them growing in the UK.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Haha! I seem to have that super power too! Does make me mad! Fabulous cards as always and I am still laughing at the two ladies! The squirrels here are driving me mad... They keep on pinching the nuts I put out for the birds even though they have their own... Maybe I ought to put out some oranges. Honestly I haven't eaten one since I saw a F/B video showing the tiny orange worms in them... put me right off! Probably put you off too now? Have a lovely Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Loved the cards. Really chuckled at the second one:)
ReplyDeleteDidn't know Squirrels ate citrus fruits.
Hope you have a lovely day. Sue
Sorry re blogger conniptions and eating your post, it was delicious too I’m sure! Mm sad re sales happening after purchase, not my favourite things either. Two great friendship cards dear Darnell and so glad Hammy was there to rescue you! 😊
ReplyDeleteBloggy hugs, Shaz in Oz.x PS praying for you and Mister too,
Oh Darnell you do make me giggle.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards, the die cut tulip is so pretty, and your friendship card is such a hoot! I hadn't realsied the background was water droplets ..... very clever. I did go back and check though.
What a great picture of the squirrel ..... he certainly looks pleased with his find.
Love & hugs xx
Two amazing cards Darnell. The first looks so classy and the second cracked me up with that super sentiment xx
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are wonderful, Darnell. The pink flower is striking and the second one so funny. I have a few of those fun stamps in my NBUS. I, also, have the same super power you do. My last order to PTI went in about 15 minutes before I received notification that everything would be on sale at midnight. It is frustrating! We are having very wicked winds here. It has been blowing all night. I woke up in the wee hours to find we had no power, but luckily it was restored quickly. Enjoy your Sunday! I'll be holding on for dear life so I don't blow away. lol
ReplyDeleteEye catching blog post title :) Beautiful birthday card...I love all of the pink.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your Super Power :( I hate when that happens.
Your Art Impressions card is perfect. That sentiment is hilarious.
We would never get to see a squirrel with that type of treat around here...lucky guy! Do you have fruit trees?
With the card of the ladies (and text) you got me smiling, even more seeing the pic of that beautiful and clever (season) squirrel! But your first card is the one I stared at a bit longer; great way to work with a text-background! Enjoy your sunday!
ReplyDeleteWell your title certainly got my attention Auntie! lol Sorry that your whole post went belly up, I hate when that happens, although I haven't had it happen in a long time. Mostly it is when I am typing to fast and my fingers hit something that make things disappear! Then I (taught to me by Nancy S.) use the control and Z to bring back my typing. Don't know if it would work with a post or not but worth a try! Your friend birthday card is just beautiful! I love that paper, I really thought you stamped it until I read! That die is just beautiful, another one I'm drooling over. lol Oh Auntie, I have always bought stuff right before a sale and then kicked myself in the back end! Never fails! Now I don't have to worry about it as I just don't buy much anymore. Loving your Twofer!!! The Art Impressions gals always win my heart over as they are so me! Nice and round! lol I've had my eye on this set for quiet a while and a few others as well. Love the way you paper pieced and colored your gals, they are just too cute and now your title makes perfect sense. I often laugh so hard tears run down my legs! You have worked magic with both of these cards Auntie!!! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteA lovely card and a funny card.
ReplyDeleteI too have a super power. It happens when companies have sales going on and there's NEVER enough in stock that I get to pick what I want. Or, the item that I said "e-mail me when in stock" gets in after I waited an eternity and then the other items that I was going to purchase are now out of stock. So, I wait some more because I don't want to pay for shipping twice. Mainly what happens is I don't get the sales alert until 8 hours after the other ½ of the world gets it. Let me get off the soap box...........it's getting slippery.
Pink and white tulip card is just lovely. My cousin named her (now college age) daughter Johanna Tulip, so I'm always reminded of them both. That's an amazing die, and I wondered about your sentiment! Clever girl! Sorry about your super power. Mine is always being in the slower/stopped lane of a traffic jam. Your green lady even looks like she might be slyly checking that Depends.... These ladies look amazing. The polka dots are wonderful, and your coloring is pretty darn fabby. Two great cards. Have a lovely Sunday. xo Bev
ReplyDeleteLove your cards. I just got that tulip die also but haven't used it yet. Love your pink one. Got a laugh from your second one, it is so cute. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteI hate when posts disappear. I think I do that with the little finger on my right hand somehow. I've had my eye on that tulip die and you may have pushed me over the edge with this stunning card. That paper is gorgeous and I love the script. You matched the color beautifully. I'm happy you used that fun girlfriend stamp set and those outfits you made for the girls are great. Good job with the hair too. And Hammy, you did a good job too. Hey, you have to get your vitamin C where you can when it's flu season. The squirrel did good too! I wonder if you could exchange your super power for flying and you could pop in and visit any of us with just the blink of an eye anytime. Please get in touch with the super power people and look into that. The one you have now isn't working well for you. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteTwo super cards Darnell, and that tulip is so pretty with the script dp, and your ladies are beautifully coloured and love the water drips in the background and that fun sentiment almost had tears running down my legs..oops..lol. How frustrating to buy one week and find them on offer the next. My best trick is to want some things in a sale and either through indecision or not realising it is finishing miss out, I have stamped my foot a few times..lol. x
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards and you've really made me smile....your Tulip card is so pretty..and your ladies card is brilliant...
ReplyDeleteAnne
Another jaw achingly funny post Darnell!! Love those giggly ladies and the pretty pink card is a delight. I reckon a quick email of complaint to the "Super Power Distributors" might be in order!! xx
ReplyDeleteEven though you lost the original - a hugely entertaining post as always my sweet friend! LOVE your first card, very stylish as we Brits would say. And your snippets card is just too funny - great paper piecing and love the sentiment. I've lost a few whole posts in my time, or even huge chunks. Mostly it's due to hitting a wrong key - hit Control and some of the letter keys and it's like taking a huge blackboard eraser across what you just spent ages typing! I never heard of using Control and Z to 'undo' an action - need to try it. But, not right now on this pretty lengthy comment :)
ReplyDeleteHugs
Di xx
xxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteHmm, just tried it on the above line of x's and it worked! First I did Highlight,Control and X to wipe out the x's - and Control and Z restored them. Then I did backspace to delete them and Control and Z replaced them again! Wahoo. Learned something new there. Edit and undo on a blog post also can work at times - it's that backwards round arrow at the top of the post.
Hugs
Di xx
Sadly, I tried all the above, but I appreciate your help Di and Brenda's, too. Control Z works on emails, too. Now that I don't type as accurately as I once did, I've been using Control Z more than any other keys, lol! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteTwo adorable cards, love the first one for its fresh and sweet look and the second one because it makes me laugh :D So hilarious!
ReplyDeleteFun photo of the squirrel, too, perhaps he likes orange juice!
Hugs
Gorgeous cards here again Dee!how annoying when your post goes AWOL...happens to me too...where do they all end up I wonder ? Loving your pink creation...my fav colour too of course and the funny card is just as great too ;) hugs Vee xx....Ooops forgot to add thanks for sharing with us again over at 'The Flower Challenge' ;) Viv DT xx
ReplyDeleteYour first card is amazing, love the saying and design and then I got to the second one and it is fantastic too-so fun and beautiful, great makes Darnell!
ReplyDeleteThink that first card is a stunner...lucky you had all those elements to make it happen, including the new die. It's a gorgeous pink. And, I just love those to girls and that sentiment. I can really relate especially when laughing or sneezing. BTW, I, too, have the same superpower that you do...I won't tell my mate, either.
ReplyDeleteDon't believe I've ever seen a squirrel with a whole orange...great pic.
How frustrating to loose a post and how frustrating even more so to buy before the sale. great post anyway Darnell and I love the pink tulip card and your laughing ladies made me smile too! xx
ReplyDeleteI think it's masterful how you learned to buy JUST before things go on sale! Sigh..........been there/done that so many times myself :) Fun cards with those pretty papers and flowers, and I just love how you stenciled the water drops for the last card! LOL Genius idea :)
ReplyDeleteWell that would be so very annoying to lose a post like that!! Bummer! I love your no stamping card! The pattern paper with the words is a great idea! Fabulous paper piecing on your Ai stamps too! It's so funny but something I sure hope never happens in real life! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty tulips. Brings sprig to those still suffering through snow and cold. Your twofer is me often when I read your hilarious posts. Thanks for the entertainment.
ReplyDeleteOh l can relate to you losing your post mine is mostly emails to friends l too forget what l wrote and you can bet your second socks the first post was the better one..your cards are gorgeous as always and l had to lol at the sentiment on your 2nd card so amusing that flower on your 1sy card so just gorgeous..enjoy your week ahead of you whatever your plans are take care xx
ReplyDeleteI share your ability to order things the day before they go on sale - not just craft things, but books for my e-reader - the number of times I've spent $14.99 and then a day or two later, it's on special for $3.99. Infuriating!!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of the squirrel eating an orange! I bet Hammy was jealous. And love your vibrant pink tulip card - another die I might have to get! Your second card made me smile!
Oh, the trials and tribulations of stamping and blogging... and shopping -- one of the funnest parts of stamping (even when you miss the sale). Much more fun that getting your blog post eaten, grrrr. I see such a pretty QACAS tulip card today, looking even prettier in the sunshine! Gee, this would have been perfect for our pink and white challenge at Double D. You gave me grins and giggles with your AI cards. They're snappy dressers and the one is stylin' with her blue hair. Our orange suet is a favorite of the birds and squirrels, so your little guy is elated with his treasure, I'm sure!
ReplyDeletethese cards are so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteoh that little guy is soooo cute!
hugs
Love the vibrant pinks of the CAS first card and so glad you used the new die relatively quickly.....Sorry you missed the sale....again! x Now that's one fun second card and love how you used the water drop stencil in the background, which is such a fun idea x. What a clever squirrel to pinch the orange....no colds for this cute one this year. Sorry you lost the post Darnell, how frustrating that is but Vodka always helps and well done Hammy x
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness me, what a cracking post, love the first card and the gorgeous pink colour. Really lovely die and the sentiment is from Craftwork Cards an English company which is now no longer trading, they were pretty local to me and I used to go there quite a lot and spend a fortune.
ReplyDeleteThe second card is just brilliant and the sentiment is fabulous.
Kath x
Oh gosh, so sorry about your post disappearing. How frustrating. Your cards are so beautiful!! I love the pretty pink flower!! The second one totally makes me laugh!! Have a great day!! Big hugs :)
It's a nightmare when the post gets empty. I know ... but I do not have Hammy to help me out with vodka. :-) It's always the same story with the new stuff. You think you have enough and then there is a new edition. We all know how it ends. :-) With the payment button. :-))
ReplyDeleteYour pink tulip on the pink background is simply the best. Wonderful die cut and fantastic design. Friends card with matching sentiment is my favourite this time. Perfect paper piercing, perfect masking... perfect done. :-)
Have a great week! Hugs, Sonja
Well the title of your post pulled me in right away...and then I got such a kick out of your wonderfully paper-pieced friendship card. Already a fabulous design, the paper pieced outfits make it really pop!
ReplyDeleteI am, also so impressed with your no-stamping card, as it's always so hard for me to put one together without sneaking in at least a stamped sentiment. I bow down to you oh stash-goddess,for using an ancient button, in addition to going stampless. That is one cheery card!
Hmmm, so you had blogger problems yesterday as well. I finally jumped in and started a blog (plain vanilla, economy style so far) and could not post for the life of me all day long. I finally switched from Firefox to Chrome and tried it that way but still had problems inserting an image into my blog posts. Got it resolved last night, but it was not a fun process. So maybe the Blogger spirits were restless?
ReplyDeleteFantastic paper, Dolly! And that tulip die is so pretty in pink! Going late to shop happens a lot over here too. Sometimes my timing is not good! But I find I don't enjoy the NBUS schtuff any less. The Best Friend card is such fun! Love those drops in the background. Definitely calls for Depends! LOL.
ReplyDeleteTwo FABULOUS cards Darnell! LOVE your monochromatic tulip card...what a beautiful die and I can see why it didn't get added to the NBUS pile!! Had to chuckle at your super power...mine is the exact opposite...everything I order seems to have been on sale yesterday! Oh well, when you GOTTA have it, you GOTTA have it! Your friendship card is wonderful and totally made me laugh...LOVE the sentiment!! And you have definitely got some mad paper piecing skills Darnel...those ladies outfits are FANTASTIC!! Great post my friend! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards and a spectacular catch you made getting the shot of the squirrel! I love it!! my mom used to say my eyes were bigger than my belly! .... maybe I'm related to this furry guy! LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot of that squirrel!! LOVE your cards. That tulip is as pretty as can be. Never thought to use it in pink like that and now you have my head spinning with even more ideas!! LOVE the second card. I love AI and their sentiments ROCK!! GREAT design on both cards!!
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful cards Darnell! The first is pretty in pink and the second is too much fun! Great shot of the squirrel too, poor little guy must have the sniffles!
ReplyDeleteI love your friendship-focused cards today. I think friends are more important than we realize, especially when we're of an age where we can laugh so hard the tears run down our legs!!
ReplyDeleteYOur cards brought a smile to my face. I love the all pink number fabulous collection of bits to make a gorgeous whole. I laughed at the second. Reminded me of my besty and the times we would laugh together until it hurt and breathing was impossible.
ReplyDeleteAs far as those damned sales go...that is so freaking aggravating. Happened to me 2 in the last month. If it is a few days its not so bad but when its a matter of hours...arrrgggghhhhhh.
hugs!
Gorgeous cards, Darnell xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh Darnell, it is always so much fun to visit your blog and read your posts ... always uplifting to say the least! Both cards are fabulous but of course love your pink/white creation! Well done! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Double D ‘Pink & White’ challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.
DAR’S CRAFTY CREATIONS Please stop in for a visit!
Great QACAS card in hot pink! Love the paper piecing and the stenciled background on your second creation ! How fun! I had to google search to understand what you meant with the title :) !
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for joining us at The Flower Challenge with your new die, Darnell!
Beautiful One-fer -- and perfect but I'm still trying to wrap my brain around no stamping!!! And your second is hilarious, I have this stamp set, but unfortunately I haven't used it yet -- maybe you've lit a fire!
ReplyDeleteEeek ... no wonder you needed that wodka, Darnell ... what a catastrophe (pronounced cat-a-strof) ... I did enjoy the rewrite though! Pink perfection on that first card, it's so spring like and delightful ... and those well-dressed-in-their-polka-dots, laughing chums just take me back to our Lake House weeks where I recall this sentiment being brought into frequent use! Laughing and smiling all over my face! LYAMYLALMA! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteWell you seem to do well on the vodka lol! my cards would be wonkier than usual! Love the first pretty one (that is PTI paper - I have it somewhere!) and the amusing - so funny and CAS design.
ReplyDeleteLove the nature pic too!
Hi Darnell,
ReplyDeleteLove how you have left the 'negative' pieces in the tulip die, and I almost had tears running down MY legs when I saw your card on our Words 2 Craft By mid-challenge post.
Have become your latest follower...thank you for following my blog, and for your lovely comment.
Jennifer. x
Sorry about your post, Darnell, but sure love your tulip card. Super well done!!
ReplyDeleteSo frustrating when time is so precious but thanks for taking time to re-write the post. these card are just great. So different from each other but both perfect xx
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards Darnell. I understand your frustrations at "loosing" your post it has happened to me so your not alone..lol. xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell
ReplyDeleteA great fun post .. .. apart from you having to "re-write" it of course!!
Love the script behind your lovely die-cut on the first and the second really made me smile!
Hope you are having a good week.
Love Jules xx
Oh, such wonderful cards! Love the pink card with the background text and pretty flower! And, second card is so fun with the sweet ladies and sentiment! Thank s for bringing a smile to my face! Have a great day!:)
ReplyDeleteYou are the Two-fer Queen! Fab cards, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI was going to comment on how clearly you stamped that script when I saw that it was patterned paper. It looks great with your tulip and I'm glad you shared that card with us at The Flower Challenge, Darnell. I always love those ladies and your paper piecing of them is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pink and white beauty! The pink script perfectly matches the cardstock. I love the circle sentiment! Those two ladies are fantastic! I love their paper pieced outfits and gorgeous coloring! How cute is that squirrel! Now that's a sight I will not see around here. Miss you!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a squirrel with an orange--so funny! I think I have that tulip die cut & you've made me want to use it, Darnell--love that card!
ReplyDeletePretty in Pink, Dolly! Your script background and pretty pink flower die make a beautiful pairing. Add in the button sentiment that is so cool and you've got one fabulous card! Love it! You know pink is MY colour! :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the fun image of the two ladies laughing. It looks like you and me were the models for this image! :) They are laughing so hard, that is makes me want to laugh. Awesome card, my friend! Lolly xx
Love the AI stamp! it always makes me laugh and almost have tears running down my legs!
ReplyDeleteThe second card steals the show! Hilarious! And not to forget the resourceful squirrel! How did he get that big orange on the fence? He must be in good shape!
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards. I love that tulip die, especially how you left it whole. Very clever!! Great take on the Mood Board, thanks so much for playing along with us over at the Double D Pink and White Challenge. Hope we see you back again soon!!
