Hello Stamplings!
My last post of this month. We are in for another heat wave starting tomorrow so we're flying up to Alaska for a few days. Just kidding. But wouldn't that be awesome? When people are asked what material thing they would wish for if they only got one wish, I never hear anybody say private jet. That would be my choice. Of course, it would go without saying that the hangar rental and costs of operation and pilot would be included. Of course.
Now that we've snapped out of my daydream, here are my cards. I know you weren't expecting another Fourfer after my last post, but it snot really. I consider these first three one-layer cards to be all together as a Onefer.
Poppy: Concord & 9th. Stencil: Funky Fossil Designs
Poppy: Penny Black 40-320. Stencil: Balzer Designs Mini Tiny Circles
Poppy: Penny Black 40-375. Stencil: Dylusions
Do you think maybe I love poppies? I have several more poppy stamps, but I ran out of time to make cards with all of them. I've painted them all with my Ziggies and now that Hammy is back home, he loved liberally winking them all. I used fossilized amber and antique linen Oxies through various background stencils to add a certain Jenny Say Quah to each one.
Challenges
- Card No. 1 "Lots of Hugs" is playing in the "One-Layer Card Using Stencils" challenge over at Less is More.
- Card No. 2 "Happy Birthday" is playing in the August Penny Black Saturday Challenge where the brief is "Anything goes with the option of water and/or watercoloring."
- Card No. 3 "Enjoy" is playing in the "Use Your Favorite Flower" challenge over at The Flower Challenge, just as the doors are closing.
Twofer
For this Chrissie card, I used two different Penny Black sets. The tree is from "Jolly Friends 30-058" and the NBUS doggie (nicknamed "Peanut" by Hammy) is from "Merry Delight 30-448." The sediment is from PTI. The wonky dies are from MFT. Peanut comes with a die, so naturally I had to levitate him to show how becited he is that the glittery foam star on the top of the tree matches his collar! This design was pretty quick and fits any age or gender, so I think I'll be making a few more of these.
Challenges
- Christmas Kickstart, where my friend Cat is the GD Elf, has a brief this time of "Dachshund (any doggie) Through the Snow."
- August Rudolph Days: Anything Christmas goes.
- Penny Black and More: Boys and Men.

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

It would indeed be awesome Darnell, we can but dream!
ReplyDeleteTwo super creations, adore the first one using that lovely PB floral, such intense colours and nicely stencilled background which really makes the blooms pop. The Christmas doggie is a delight and a lovely CAS design.
So nice to see you at Penny Black and More this month, many thanks for joining in. Have a good Sunday.

Hi Darnell, Lovely cards.
ReplyDeleteWe are having a hotter spell. Temps set to go into the 30s today and tomorrow.
Hope you have a nice day. Sue
Morning Darnell, swung by from the LIM blog to check out your entry only to find a smorgasbord of makes - fab colours, super stencils and the cutest Christmas card too. Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteShame about yet another challenge blog closing down
Happy Sunday, hope you are well
Kathyk
Those poppies are so good, really vibrant colourings so right for the hot weather. The doggy Christmas card is great too.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, those poppies are stunning, such wonderful bursts of colour!
ReplyDeleteMy own fantasy private jet travels at the speed of light - I love going to other places but hate the time it takes to get there.
the flower cards are gorgeous Darnel and the other card super cute
ReplyDeleteGr Karin
Wow, those poppy cards are stunning! Beautiful stamps and colours and beautifully designed! The Christmas card is so cute with that very becited puppy!
ReplyDeletexx
Loving the poppy cards Darnell with the fabulous stencilled backgrounds...
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that Hammy is safely home from his trip to Bellingham, and being helpful in the playhouse again. Do you think he can trace his lineage back to Mr Saddlebags yet??
That Christmas card is delightful - especially as Peanut is levitating...
Blessings
Maxine
I'm glad Hammy is home. I love the poppies and the puppy. So cute. I didn't even know that the Flower challenge existed or I would have played. The stenciling on the poppy cards is lovely. That puppy and the big beautiful star is great. [Bunny]```
ReplyDeleteYour flower cards are beautiful! Love the Christmas card with that adorable little puppy!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Marilyn❤
These are all so beautiful!! The first three flower cards are so elegant and gorgeous!! I love the colors!! The Christmas card is so sweet!! I love the happy doggie!! Can I borrow your private plane? Your pilot can just drop me off on a tropical island somewhere and I'd be happy ;) Have a great day!! Big hugs :)

Beautiful poppies, Darnell! Love the colors and sparkle. The backgrounds are so pretty! And that sweet pooch and Christmas tree are adorable, too. I hope you don't melt during the next heat wave!
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful, it looks like the seeds are spreading from the 💐 We ate planning a trip to Alaska next year if you want to hop in my suitcase!
ReplyDeleteLove all your cards, Darnell, but that little pup has stolen my heart! I like the idea of a private jet, but hubby isn't a great one for flying so I'm thinking of a transporter device of some form. Thanks for playing at The Christmas Kickstart again, it's great to have you here again, Jo x
ReplyDeleteNo, no Darnell! Not a private jet - think how terrible for the environment! If we all did that, soon there would be no Alaska to fly to! I prefer Jo's idea of us all having transporter devices. I would transport myself (and Eva, my lovely assistant) to the Playhouse and we could make Christmas cards to keep ourselves cool. And perhaps eat iced lollies. I think Eva would like to make friends with Hammy :)
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty, bright poppy cards with their lovely stencil backgrounds and that cute little pupper getting all excited about Christmas is adorable!
PS You are my place to come to for finding new challenges!
xx
Beautiful cards, Darnell. I love your one layer poppy cards and your sweet little Christmas pup is adorable! You have been on a roll lately. I can't keep up with all of your posts. lol Larry and I took an Alaskan cruise a few years ago. What an adventure! If you haven't been, I highly recommend it. We cruised for 7 days and then took a train inland for 3 days. I would love to go back! Enjoy your Sunday! Hugs, Sharyn
ReplyDeleteAnd here’s me eagly looking for the proper Peanut. Love your freefer poppy cards. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteThose poppy cards are just gorgeous. I can't choose between them xx
ReplyDeleteWhat fabulous poppies Darnell and love the different dotty looks with the stencilling, and your cute doggy and Christmas tree works beautifully. x
ReplyDeleteYour poppies are gorgeous, Dolly! I love each and every one of these cards! And Peanut looks so becited with that Christmas tree. Imagine how becited he would be if there were presents under it! Can you send you plane this way to pick me up on your way to Alaska? I'd love to go with you.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poppy cards Darnell! Yummy looking.
ReplyDeleteLove that little Christmas pup too!
Lynn
All three poppy cards are beautiful. The colors and shading are lovely. Any dog card captures my heart and this one is adorable. Keep cool even if you're not in Alaska.I'm sorry that plane thing didn't work out.
ReplyDeleteI love all three of the poppy cards. Great designs. And, that is such a cute design for the Christmas card. Coloring on all of them is fantastic! Find a way to stay cool. We have a cold front moving in here.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on a private jet! I love your poppies and I think I own two of the three you show. Fabulous coloring and I love the dots. Your pup looks so cute sitting by that tree. I'm so glad you played along.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous California Poppies, Darnell ... the glow of them against the stencilling is fantastic on all three! Sweet little peanut ... hope the Christmas tree can withstand his excitement! If the heat's too much over there, feel free to come over here in that private jet ... it's not too hot, not too cold, but just right! LYAMYLALMA! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteI love Poppies, and your dream... may your wish include me as your flight attendant?
ReplyDeleteJust the most beautiful poppies, D - and Peanut tops this fourfer off with as much pun-ash as Jenny's say quah!
=]
Sorry about your heatwave, ours don't last long! 28C yesterday 22C today, but still we have clear skies and sun, what more could we ask for? As for the private plane? I understand where you come from! OR want to go to?
ReplyDeleteYour cards, as always, are perfect, love the poppies and the Jenny Say Quah (laughing out loud at that, love the way you say it). Your Christmas card is the cutest and I can see why you would want to repeat it. GORGEOUS cards.
Faith x
Good to know someone else is dreading the heat as much as me...I just want a big pool in the back yard complete with cabana/pool cleaner guy. You appear to be using your inside time to great advantage...oooh, those poppies. Just perfect in my eyes. And can we discuss how adorable that puppy is? That to me is the ultimate Christmas card.
ReplyDeleteDarnell - I LOVE your poppy cards - they are the epitome of CAS beauty! I love how you used the stencils and in particular the stencil on your second card. If you ever have a chance would you mind letting me know what stencil that is?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!!
Maura (beesmom at splitcoaststampers)
Sorry to hear you are still suffering from the heat. I probably shouldn't tell you we are cruising to Alaska next month to celebrate 52 years of wedded bliss. Somehow I think we will be on the cool side. Because there will be about 8 days at sea I plan on working on cards. Your poppy cards are great. Stay cool. BBB
ReplyDeleteOh wow, those poppies are stunning and the Jenny Say Quah that you added was a beautiful finishing touch. Peanut is just adorable, he makes the perfect Christmas card!
ReplyDeleteI know the heat here is nothing compared to where you are but 30C, which it has been here today, is just too, too much! Hope yours cools down soon. Hugs, Annie xxx
Amazing poppies, love so much how you keep the cards so clean but vibrant and so interesting! Great use of all the stencils! The PB doggie with the tree is a delight, how cute!!
ReplyDeleteWell done to Hammy for all the winking ;)
Here is very hot too, it seems impossible to me that already next week I will have to go back to school :((( Sigh
What glorious first three cards and a stunning colour combination. Love the design layouts Darnell and the vibrant colour against the stencilling looks amazing. Love the little woofers face and he looks so excited about the prospect of Christmas ....Adorable card x.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the trip to Alaska!!!! and of course the private jet!! x
Your cards are all so fabulous, Darnell! I love the poppies, too. And the last one is so cute.
ReplyDeleteI never thought about a private jet, but that would be nice. I've thought I would wish for a motorhome that came complete with a driver. That would be pretty awesome, also:)
Beautiful field of poppies. Loving "Peanuts" Dogs can show so much joy.
ReplyDeleteWhat fantastic poppy cards, love the colouring and the added gorgeous stencil, really fantastic cards, I love poppies too.
ReplyDeleteA really great RD card too, tow lovely images and the die really helps lift "Peanut"
Thank you for joining our 'Boys and Men' challenge at Penny Black and More.

Your poppy cards are amazing!! I LOVE the colors you used and the use of the stencils. I do have a poppy stamp I might need to dig out. Your Christmas card is adorable. I love the little puppy and the fun star you used on top of that tree!!
ReplyDeleteAs for heat-yuck!! A last gasp of summer!! I start work tomorrow and NOT looking forward to it but need to go back to earn a paycheck. I liked being home for the summer!!

i'm back wearing a different hat. i love how you've combined stamps to create this sweet and fun christmas card and i love the traditional colour scheme! thank you so much for playing along with the penny black and more challenge.

Your stylized poppies are beautiful. I love the vibrant orange of them. They remind me of warm sunshine (which I know you're getting a lot of lately). Your Christmas card is pure cuteness. That lil' pup is just atwitter with excitement. Fun card!
ReplyDeleteHope you had fun in Alaska! Such gorgeous cards!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, I love all those gorgeous Welsh poppies :) and that adorable peanuts who looks a little starry eyed :)
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, Darnell, we certainly were on the same page with our Flower Challenge cards - orange poppies and dotty stenciling!! You get bonus points for making three variations though - I just did the one!
ReplyDeleteAnd the Christmas card with the adorable spaniel is wonderful - love him looking up at the Christmas tree!
A private jet sounds like a great idea to me .... although my other half would probably go for a boat!!
ReplyDeleteI love your poppy designs, the bright flowers look fab with those dotty backgrounds. And your little Christmas puppy is sooo cute!
Stay cool my friend xx
Aww Darnell day dreaming is my passion...lol if only!! your cards are amazing just love the background effects and the colours used for the flowers and of course that gorgeous Christmas card just adorable is your image and layout with the wonky die take care and enjoy your lovely weather xx
ReplyDeleteI love poppies and that first stamp is such a beautiful delicate one! Your colours for them are great; sunny and summer on a card!
ReplyDeleteAnd your x-mascard is so sweet... Hugs, Gerrina
It is so nice to come back to blogland after a long time off and land directly in poppies field. :-) Amazing one layer cards you've created. I like those all three different stamps of poppie. The background with yellow dots is a great choice to the vibrant colour of poppie. It seems, you like poppies. :-)
ReplyDeleteChristmas card with a sweet dog admiring a christmas tree is a superb idea to make a mass production.
Have a great week!
Hugs, Sonja
What a wonderful collection of cards! The poppies with stenciled backgrounds are all lovely and I love that each one is slightly different, but the colors are gorgeous! And then there's that Christmas card that's just too stinkin' cute with that doggie! Love them all. Hey, that private jet sounds like a winner to me! Only thing is, Alaska is melting, so I'd probably head to Ireland to take in some lush greenery :)
ReplyDeleteThey are all so pretty... as is my precious birthday card. Thank you so much xoxo
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful bright poppies Dee! and how cute is that puppy on the Xmas one too. Oh yes that private jet would be lovely right now as it's boiling here too and I am melting. Thanks for sharing with us over at 'The Flower Challenge' ;) hugs Vee xx
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards Darnell - I especially love the poppy ones (one of my favourite flowers too!).
ReplyDeleteKath x
A private jet would, indeed, be fab. Saying that I am not a great flyer unless I consume a lot of gin!! What lovely poppies these are and the sublte backgrounds are a great touch. Love that cute pooch eyeing up the Christmas tree!! xx
ReplyDeleteA super collection of cards Darnell, beautiful poppies - you have created great backgrounds for them and I love the Peanut one - so cute.
ReplyDeletePauline - Crafting with Cotnob

Cute poppy cards! It's been "thankfully" cooler these last three days or so. I say thankfully because our poor Air conditioner that has been running almost every day during this very hot summer this year has DIED! So I hope it stays cooler!
ReplyDeleteLove the layout of the floral cards--all beautiful! I do love that darling puppy dog Christmas card & I'm ashamed to say I didn't get a post written in time to enter mine. At least I did make a doggy card!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poppies with the artsy stenciling -- so fun and pretty! And Peanut? He and his collar steal the show!
ReplyDeleteOoooh....aaaaaah....those poppy designs are gorgeous and I love the stenciling too. We had poppies in our backyard when I was growing up so I always had a fondness for them. We grew them from a package of free seeds that came in a cereal box..so free flowers!
ReplyDeleteYes, wishes may also be crazy !!
ReplyDeleteBut your cards are not crazy, but beautiful. I love the design and its CAS design.
Gundi
Oh a private jet would be amazing... I would love one too.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are stunning! What gorgeous poppy stamps Darnell and I love the colours you used. Your sweet Christmas cad makes me smile.. Just look at that dogs face!
It's been hot here too but I guess winter will be here all too soon, after all we are almost in September! Can you believe it!
Enjoy your week my lovely
Melting here and Alaska sounds like a great idea if you want to make a detour with your private jet and pick a few of us up on the way!
ReplyDeleteLove ALL of your amazing cards. The poppies are all beautiful and I love the christmas card with that cute little chappie.... not sure if he's sat nicely waiting for Santa to bring him a pressie or if he's wondering how on earth he can get his paws on that chocklit star on top of the tree! xx
amazing poppy, I love the colours and super cute puppy - stars are such a clever idea!
ReplyDeletehugs xx
I love poppies too and these are such beautiful cards using stamps I don't have (sits on hands!)
ReplyDeleteLove your Chrissie card and so lovely to see you at Penny Black & More.

Gorgeous. Love the stenciled backgrounds. I've just added a few more stencils to my collection (and a lot of other goodies after a papercraft show here) - I must start using them!!
ReplyDeleteA private jet how cool (pardon the pun!) you could visit any playhouse you desired any where what a great idea!
Sweet and lovely card!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing at Penny Black and more;-))m
Your three-in-one (or is it one-in-three in this case?) of poppies are beautiful! The stenciling really gives movement to them as though they are releasing their fragrance into the air (or is that opium?). Peanut is a cutie, and I love how he really looks impressed with that star!
ReplyDeleteStunning poppy cards, Darnell, and I just love your sweet pup with Christmas tree! Cooler weather already here (60s and 70s) but a trip to Alaska would be great regardless :)
ReplyDeleteOMG what an absolutely super PB card (I have that dog in the wooden version), I'm loving how you have combined the dog with the tree and thanks for joining us at Augusts Rudolph Days Challenge, Luv Sam x
ReplyDeleteWe have had a heatwave here too, last weekend and I wanted to escape to Norway (only because it was closer than Alaska ;-))
All your OLC poppies look stunning! I love the flow your stenciled backgrounds have -I need to remember this card design for some future flower cards! Thanks so much for the inspiration and thank you for joining us at Less is More! Have a good weekend... In Alaska or at home. ;)

WOW Darnell, stunning cards! I have never thought of a private jet but come to think of it, that would be very convenient wouldn't it!
ReplyDeleteI got so carried away with the thought of a private jet that I forgot to say thanks for joining us at Less is More with your beautiful stenciled card!
ReplyDeleteThe first three are all so pretty! That is a lovely stamp, Darnell!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your Christmas card! The images are both so cute and love how the stars match!
Seems so long since I saw you...I treasure meeting all of you that day!
Thanks for taking part in the August Rudolph Days Challenge.
So here I am, way far behind again, but all I can say is "oh, well". I'm sure you haven't missed my comment among all the other 76 comments on this post. Just want you to know how much I enjoy it when you stamp. Counting your previous post I'm looking at 8 fun and fabulous cards, and I really mean that. I'm inspired. I'm starting back with stamping now that we've been home a few days and I must say I missed it! Hope it has cooled off some down there. When we were in Baker it was 108. Too hot for me!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poppies, Darnell! From all the wild flowers, they are my favorite. The Jenny Say Quah that you added with stencils looks good on... a French lady?!? No, I don't think so, they look really good on your trio of cards :)!
ReplyDeleteYour cute dog reminds me of someone I know, in front of the tree, waiting for Christmas!!! Ha ha.
Hugs,
Cris
Totally wonderful cards! Such cool images, colors, and techniques. Makes me want to stay home from work and play with ink and paper. Hugz
