I'm pleased today to be part of an annual blog hop to help bring awareness to Turner Syndrome. I took part last year and until then I'd never even heard of Turner Syndrome, in spite of the high occurrences, as you'll read below.
Here is my card for the Hop using Penny Black stamps:
Turner Syndrome (TS) is a genetic disorder where a female is born missing her second X Chromosome, leaving her with lifelong medical issues. It affects 1 in every 2,000 to 2,500 girls, but it is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to term (miscarriages and stillbirths). TS is named after Dr. Henry Turner, who discovered the condition in 1938.
This Hop is sponsored by Lori Kobular whose beautiful daughter Julie has TS. Lori is a Board Member and longtime supporter of the Turner Syndrome Foundation, a nonprofit organization that strives to increase awareness and education of Turner Syndrome. Pleased to hear that the Hubster is recovering well from his operation. Have just been reading up Donna’s blog about Turner Syndrome along with a lot of other medical conditions too. Was not aware on the statistics of being born with it. Indeed an eye opener. Your card is lovely . Penny black have some really classic images . Hugs Mrs A.

Your card is just stunning Auntie! I love the way you stamped your iris in black and white and then colored the last one. So pretty! Loving the color combo as well. I had never heard of this syndrome before until you took part last year. Glad the Mister is doing as well as can be expected, but I know that everyday he will improve some, just going to take time to heal and get back on his feet well. I know they are probably putting him through the work outs though with PT! Good thing he is strong and healthy, so I know he can do it! Sending prayers and my love to you both! Brenda

Oh no, Darnell, so sorry to read about your husband not doing well. I hope he recovers quickly. Your card is gorgeous and I love the sentiment and imagery. These colours are gorgeous too! I just learned about Turner Syndrome today - I heard of it before but didn't know what it was. Thanks for helping to educate us about this disease.

Well done for taking part of this great hop, Darnell!! It's so good spread the world about the Turner Syndrome! I known about it just last year as my first time and I was so impressed, as I'm still now. Your card is just perfect to say how the girls with TS are special, I learned that they are really miracles, as always die before being born. Really very sad.

Beautiful card for such a worthy cause. I had not heard of TS until last year - then I had to go look it up and learn more. What a quirk of nature in that one tiny chromosome affects the genetic code so much.

Gorgeous no line coloring of the colored flower! I love your interpretation of the TSF imagery too. Before serving on a DT with Lori I had never heard of this condition. Just another reminder that if someone is acting differently or looks differently, they could be learning to live a life with a challenge like this. If the hop only teaches us to extend grace to those in need more often, than it is worth it. And hopefully a little fundraising will help too!

BEAUTIFUL card! Your sentiment and design with the single coloured iris beside the others in B&W is the PERFECT way to celebrate the MIRACLE girls living with Turner Syndrome!
I hopped along last year. There are so many aspects to this genetic disorder that it is almost overwhelming, especially when we remember that less than 2% of babies conceived survive to birth, precious girls that face the challenges each day with their families. I appreciate the opportunity to learn more again this year, things like the average age of diagnosis being over 9 years, something that is very concerning given that it is a genetic disorder from birth, so many challenges that could have been managed much earlier go untreated.
