Hello Stamplings!
Happy Mother's Day to all who celebrate! So many of us have been unable to see our children or our mothers since the isolation to protect against Covid-19 began 3,248 weeks ago. This is very sad for everyone, but I think a lot of us are willing to put up with not being together for Mother's Day this year as opposed to, you know, being dead from the virus because we weren't careful.
Today I've made two cards with flowers because, in addition to Mother's Day, it's the 10th of the month and the new Twofer Card Challenge starts today with FL🏵W🌹RS as the prompt! Here are my cards to inspire you:
The NBUS stamp that both my card designs have in common is the Banners & Blooms stamp from Concord & 9th.
For my first design, I masked off a side panel and platinum heat-embossed the stamp twice vertically. I watercolored the image with my Ziggies and Hammy winked them, as per usual. He's such a great little helper! To make a clean border, I added a strip of platinum trim Washi tape from Altenew. The sediment was in my stash from GKW.
Challenges
- Addicted to CAS: Flowers.
- HLS May Watercolour: Anything goes. Optional: Emboss.
- Little Red Wagon: Flowers.
- Seize the Birthday: Anything birthday goes.
Twofer
For my second design, I white heat-embossed the bouquet and Hammy and I again colored and winked with relish. Well, not literally with relish, although I'll bet somewhere there's an artist who has tried painting with relish.
Sorry. I digest. Next I die cut the window box from Poppystamps out of a snippet of woodgrain paper. I also cut it four times from black paper and offset those layers to give it shadow dementia on one side. The box and flowers were popped onto a NBUS lattice frame die from WPlus9 and a stamped Hello sediment, also from WPlus9, was added.
Challenges
- HLS May Anything Goes With Dies.
- Inspired By ... Flower me with color. I turned the photo upside down!
- NBUS #14: Flower bouquet stamp and lattice frame.
- SSS Wednesday: Dies and/or punches.
- Use Your Stuff: Flowers and Butterflies.
- Watercooler Wednesday: AG with a feminine twist.

I would love for you to play with us and enter your beautiful flower designs in the gallery at TCC! As you can see above, there are several other flower challenges happening right now you can also play in!
Please remember that you can make two conventional designs or one conventional design and one unconventional design using flowers. We have winners for both categories. Today the Team and our talented Guest Designer Cindy Beach made conventional designs to inspire you over at the Twofer Card Challenge! Mwah!

My friend Ros thought of another quip to add to the ones from Mamie in my last post:
- Never in a million years did I think I would walk into a bank wearing a mask and ask for money!
~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy ~ and remember to stay in whenever possible! LITS!* If this is an especially sad day for you because your mother or child has passed, I send you extra hugs.
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor!
And a happy mother's day to you too. Two really beautiful cards and both such fabulous designs. That is a gorgeous stamp and I love the dies you used on your twofer xx
ReplyDeleteTwo really pretty cards Darnell, think the window box one is mt favourite.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are keeping safe and well. Luckily we had a family get together the weekend before Mother's day which was just before lockdown! :)
Two beautiful cards Darnell. I think the side panel is my favourite but both are gorgeous. I agree with every wise word you say, things will get better and lockdown has to be better than the alternative. With the words of the song that got our parents and grandparents through WW2, " We'll meet again" Happy mothers day to you.
ReplyDeleteLynne x
These are beautiful. The vivid colours are great on the first and I love the textural effects of the second. Happy Mothers Day to you - ours was in March,just as lockdown was beginning.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards Darnell. It’s hard not being able to see family but as you say it’s better than the alternative!
ReplyDeleteOh Darnell what wonderful cards, and great use of the image.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see Hammy is earning his keep, and thanks for sharing that gorgeous photo of him appreciating some 'real' flowers. Gotta keep the wee fellow motivated :)
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
You have such a wonderful way with words. Beautiful cards. Love the joke. Keep safe, stay well. Hugz
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day sweet friend! I love your twofer cards! The flowers are so pretty and so perfect for today, especially the one with the wooden box with shadow dementia :) You have the most incredible way with words that just make me smile every time I visit here :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you can find creative and fun ways to celebrate this special day set aside for you! Hugz
Beautiful cards from a beautiful soul. Thank you so much for sharing. Happy Mother's Day to you! Hope you get to ZOOM or Facetime to your heart's content, or something! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to stamp the floral image twice to create the long border design on your first card, and the colors are gorgeous! And I love all the texture you added to your second card while still keeping it Clean and Simple.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day.
Beautiful cards! Happy Mother’s Day to you too!
ReplyDeleteBoth are Gorgeous and Gorgeous, love your designs, especially the clever window box. It has a lot of dimension in it.
ReplyDeleteOur Mother's day in the UK marks the religious calendar of Mothering Sunday so we are ahead of you in the day. It's a sad time for so many, not having the cuddles etc. I agree with you, better than not ever seeing them again. As for going into a bank with a mask on. I went to get an urgent prescription and wasn't allowed in to the pharmacy with my mask on, everyone else was allowed in, even the people who came after me. I was eventually asked for the name and was handed it outside! 2 hours later! Ah! well a story to tell them in the future history of this time I suppose!
Keep safe and well.
Faith x
Hi Darnell, Loving the cards.
ReplyDeleteMothers ~Day is in March her (UK). It is a shame that with the social distancing and lockdown pople are not seeing their family and friends. Like you said, better to be safe than dead.
Stay safe. Sue
Happy Mother's Day! Sharing it with ...............oh, no kids. Well, remember when we all said we wished we had just a day without our kids? See what happened. Well, the birds are at least coming to the feeders. Loretta Wren is here to serenade me and there's Hank and Hazel and Woody.
ReplyDeleteTwo lovely cards you made. Gosh, maybe just maybe I can get on board with this challenge. [Bunny]
You have created 2 beautiful boquets. I love the windowbox on the lattice. Hope you have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteWow they both look stunning I think. I love flowers and you've showed a great way to use this stamp. Beautiful, cheerful cards.
ReplyDeleteGreetings Miranda
Beautiful watercolor flowers, my friend! Love those yellow roses and the pink variegated colors in the second design! Both make gorgeous Spring bouquets! Hammy is adorable smelling the flowers! Maybe the mask deal is one consideration in closing the banks and making us stay in our cars? I'm trying to figure out how people are going to go into a restaurant and eat with a mask on? I think I'll just stay home!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day to you and I love your beautiful cards. Gorgeous flowers.
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother’s Day. Two awesome cards!
ReplyDeleteA fabulous post, as always, Darnell. Great fun and great cards. Hope you had a Happy Mothers Day xx
ReplyDeleteThese cards are beautiful, so unique. Love the die cut window in the second one.
ReplyDeleteDarnell, clearly this is my favorite prompt of the year. I get the whole time checking out lovely flower cards. Your cards are amazing. I love the flower box card with the lattice inspired panel so clean and perfect. your watercolor flower panel with the emobssing is so elegant and pretty. Stunners, Darnell.
ReplyDeleteOh, I do love both of these cards - such beautiful flowers in beautiful colours, especially the first one - it makes me want to go and make a flowery card in exactly those colours.
ReplyDeleteMother's Day will be tough for many people this year, but best for all to stay safe. It's a tough day for me anyway as I miss my Mum so much - this is my third Mother's Day without her and I long to pick up the phone and have a chat with her. Sending love to all who are missing their Mums for whatever reason - death, Covid, distance.
Happy Mother's Day and happy 10th Twofer! Fab cards. Love the design of the first and the gorgeous gold embossing and such fab texture on the second. Thank you for the funnies, we sure need them now, sending hugs...with gloves on...your way x
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy Mother's Day, as well. Both of your lovely cards would be a blessing to any mother, sister, daughter, aunt or niece. Love the column of florals down the card and that window box is just plain fabulous.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a chance to connect with your offspring and that the Mister makes you a fantastic dinner.
Your water colouring with the ziggies on both cards looks so pretty Darnell and of course extra special because of the winking from Hammy x. The vertical line of flowers on the birthday card looks beautiful and I so love the scene making and dimension on the Hello card x.
ReplyDeleteFunny quip from Ros, which made me laugh x Happy Mother's Day to you Darnell and continue to stay safe and well and hope The Mister is behaving himself with his back? x.
These are gorgeous Darnell, so cheerful, springy and they really brightened my day! Happy Mothers Day!
ReplyDelete2 excellent flower cards. That stamp looks so different on each card, that's so clever. Both are great but my favourite is the first one, I just can't resist that heat embossing xx
ReplyDeleteYour two cards are stunning Darnell, beautifully designed and coloured,lovely choice of colours too, keep safe Kate x
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother’s Day! Unusual yes, but you are no less loved and cherished and I’m sure they let you know as often as they can!
ReplyDeleteIt was gold embossed florals that drew me into this hobby, and they are still just gorgeous aren’t they! Lovely lovely cards.
A prompt after my own heart, Darnell. The only problem is deciding which of my 374 flower stamps to use. :D I'm in love with your flower box. It looks like real wood and perfect hanging from the lattice. Stamping twice gives a whole different look to the flower stamp and it is fabulous. Thanks for sharing that one with us at Addicted to CAS.
ReplyDeleteYour flower cards are GORGEOUS, Dolly! You and I were on the same wavelength with our first cards. Great masking to create a line of beautiful blooms. Your watercolouring is amazing and I love the stripe down the side. The second card with the window box is AWESOME. I LOVE this design with your hello in the window, surrounded by lattice. So creative and beautiful, my friend. Happy Mother's Day. Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteTwo incredibly jaw-dropping cards, Darnell! I don't know if I've ever seen that flower stamp before, but as an introduction to it, I'm sold! I love how different it looks with platinum and white embossing powder. Your coloring is gorgeous! I saw your flower box and expected that you had meant this for the Inspired By challenge - it seems like a good fit to me. All my love, sweet friend! I miss you! Happy Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteBoth your cards are gorgeous! And I do like this twofer challenge! I'll try again! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are both so beautiful, Darnell! Flowers are always my favorite. I love the lattice background - gorgeous. I'm happy to know you are willing to give up seeing your family for like, staying alive:)
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother's Day, Darnell! You're so right--rather be apart for a few months than die of the virus! How is it that isn't obvious to everyone?! One of my favorite Darnell posts--2 gorgeous floral cards! The first one is my favorite--love the design, coloring, everything! That lattice frame die is one of my few impulse buys after seeing someone use it. I do love it & naturally haven't used it in a long time! You've inspired me!
ReplyDeleteDay 55 here... But there wil be some chainges from tomorrow. Most for the children age 4-12... We hope that the sad figures will stay low so there can be more changes in the future!
ReplyDeleteLove how used different and with other colours the flowerstamp looks! They look beautiful! Hugs, Gerrna
Two incredibly pretty cards Darnell!! Wishing you a very Happy Mother's Day sweet friend!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Mother’s Day. Such beautiful cards. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMe too, me too! I also wish you a Happy Mother's day. I know you are so proud of your son and daughter-in-law and those grandsons. Love your cards and as I have zillions of flower stamps and dies, I mean to enter this time. Take good care, dear Darnell. Hugs and love.
ReplyDeleteTwo incredibly BEAUTIFUL cards my friend! LOVE the flower image you used and how you lined it up twice for a border look on your 1st card and into the window box for your 2nd card! Really like the lattice background on that 2nd card too...how perfect for your windowbox, which is also awesome I might add with the black underneath! Loved the different look between the two cards with the platinum and white embossing...have to remember that trick! And had to laugh about the "hello" you used on your 2nd card...I kept staring at it wondering why it looked so familiar?!! Probably because I have that stamp set and had forgotten all about it...I think it's been years since I last stamped with it! Good grief...thanks for reminding me!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous floral cards! Love the colouring, and how different you've made the two cards look while using the same flower stamp! And I get to thank you for joining Happy Little Stampers Watercolour Challenge and Seize the Birthday! (That's a twofer, too!)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful floral cards! Heat-embossing the design first gives them such great definition and a touch of elegance. I'm sure the Hammy-winking adds even more elegance. He's such a classy hamster. I will definitely give this challenge some thought and see what I can come up with.
ReplyDeleteOOOW I am happy to see flowers as the theme for this months Twofer challenge.... and your cards are just gorgeous Darnell, lovely layout designs and beautifully coloured. And definitely a Mothers' Day to remember...although I did sneak a big hug from our daughter who bought the two little girls around for a quick visit. ha ha to Ros's quip, there's so much fun stuff being shared on social media.... anyway, hope all it well for you and the family, hugs and stay safe Robyn
ReplyDeleteTwo absolute beauties, Darnell ... and you and Hammy made them look soooo different from one another! The gold embossing with platinum edging is wonderfully elegant and stylish ... love how the vibrant zig colouring pops against the crisp white ...yum! Your dimensional window box is fantastic ... perfect against the trellis-y background ... kind of country garden-ish ... I'd love a few of these in the courtyard! LYAMYMMA! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful Darnell, so vibrant
ReplyDeleteJune x
What beauties!! I really love that window box... Fabulous!! Happy Mother's day to you and I'm glad you are all safe
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous Twofer cards Darnell using the pretty flowers, and love the vertical border with the shiny platinum strip, and then the sweet window box on the other, perfect with the woodgrain paper both beautifully heat embossed and watercoloured, and the lattice covering the background of the second card looks great. x
ReplyDeleteSorry, I meant to say hope you at least were able to be in contact with the family yesterday even if not able to be together in the flesh. I get used to distance celebrations with Stewart in Australia, and he always sends cards and we Skype on the day. x
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards, as always, Darnell xoxo
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful Darnell such vibrant colours and I see Hammy loves smelling the flowers..
ReplyDeleteKeep safe
Anne
Oh my, these cards are so beautiful. I had to look closely as it is not immediately obvious that you used the same stamp - it always amazes me how different a stamp can look! I love these cards and I love the extra ditty by Ros, it really is very funny indeed! Hugs, Anne xxx
ReplyDeleteLOVE the beautiful orange flowers with the gold embossing on the first card. The addition of the gold strip really highlights the gold in the card. I LOVE your second. It was GENIUS to put those flowers in a window box. I had to read your instructions because I really thought that window box was a piece of WOOD. It looks awesome!! WONDERFUL design!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst, I truly want to thank you Darnell for getting back to me. I asked a silly question ( What does PP stand for?), and you actually answered me, kindly. With all that's going on, you restored my faith in people. I have severe depression and even before this stay at home order happened, I hadn't left my house in 18 months. One of the things that bring happiness to my day is reading creative blogs and making art, cards, and mixed medium pieces.
ReplyDeleteThanks for bringing a smile to my heart.
Stay healthy and well,
Mischelle
Absolutely GORGEOUS cards, Darnell! I love your choice of flowers and the planter is such a clever idea! Such a beautiful color palette, too! As always, I can't wait to play along...it's always fun to join your challenges, my friend! xx
ReplyDeleteShadow dementia? Too funny! In fact, I think I may have that :)
What lovely cards, Darnell. I love the heat embossed images of the second. Such a beautifully coloured bouquet! I'm glad you decided not to try using relish for the colours. Thanks so much for sharing with us for our Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.
ReplyDeleteI was so much inspired yesterday as I saw your blooming cards, that I forgot to comment. I was running into my craft room and have created cards for TCC first. :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled about both of your cards. You and Hammy are a great team! :-) Flowers are perfect colored.
There are a lot of jokes about masks that we all have to put on our faces lately. A men said as he went to the bank with the mask once, he has to go in quarantine for 5 years. So he will never wear mask again. :-)
Stay safe! Hugs, Sonja
Such gorgeous cards Darnell!
ReplyDeleteGreat use of that flower stamp on your Twofer, Darnell! Hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!
ReplyDeleteTwofer lovely cards, Darnell! Love the vertical "swag" and the lattice is equally beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how different these stamps look in these designs Darnell, both beautiful! I love the window box on that gorgeous diecut, swoon! I hope you had a lovely Mother's Day, and thankyou for playing along at Seize the Birthday too, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteThese are two absolutely gorgeous cards! Love them.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous May Flowers using your stamps and dies, my friend. I am away from my craft room so unable to play, but did make NBUS cards before we left for an isolating little trip in the Mts:-) I am really enjoying all the Gorgeous cards for your Twofer Challenge. Stay safe and creative, Dolly...Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteLove your two beautiful flower cards - the flowers look so different in each one - fabulous! I will try and join in again if I can manage. Take good care of yourself my friend. Hugs! xxx
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty and cheerful flower cards, as well as the dimension from the die cut panel. Stay safe!
ReplyDeleteMarianne x
Darnell, your cards are so very beautiful! Your coloring is so incredible on both. Your window box is just so perfect! Thank you for sharing with us this week @ Inspired By!
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous designs, your embossing is just outstanding. Love the burlap window box.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Your two cards are beautifully designed and colored so lovely. I always have loved the look of embossed edges when it comes to florals! Your flower box looks like real wood. So happy you linked up with us at Seize the Birthday with one of these cards! I have my cards done for Twofer but I have to wait for the right time to post as one of the cards is for an upcoming JUGS challenge. Stay well and thanks so very much for supporting Seize the Birthday! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards with those lovely flowers. I like the basket of flowers but my favorite is the birthday card with border of flowers down the side, so pretty and very creative. Thanks for sharing with us at Seize the Birthday.
ReplyDeletethese are gorgeous cards!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, your cards are absolutely gorgeous! Your coloring is exquisite, they are bright, fresh and delightfully different creations! I love the panel with pretty accents but the wooden box is so very unique. Beautifully done, and thanks again so much for the opportunity to be a guest designer.
ReplyDeleteBoth of your cards are so lovely and colored so nicely. I like how you did a repeating pattern with the stamp that is embossed and love that gold edge on the images. Beautiful work.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely and the embossed images look so pretty. You are so good with the Zigs and, of course, with Hammy winking how can you go wrong. Your flower box looks so weathered and just beautiful, You are so right about staying apart, hard as it is. Better safe than sorry.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful stamp, beautiful cards! Love each design for its own distinctions. Your coloring is gorgeous. Also, I'm crazy about lattice. Is it weird how I quit buying flower stamps? They used to be practically my only thing, but now I have so many. I'm starting up buying flowers again, but in moderation. Still so much NBUS in the basket...
ReplyDeleteAnother two stunning cards, Darnell. I love both, they are beautiful and elegant. In the second card I admire your flowerpot, it looks perfect
ReplyDeletehugs,
BożenA
I love that you repeated the vertical stamp. Great way to "extend" a stamp. I love the bright and beautiful colors you chose. So cheerful. Thanks for joining us at Happy Little Stampers ~ Watercolour Challenge.
