Autumn Leaves

Hello Stamplings!

How are you? I mean, besides being on the edge of your seat? I put myself in a media blackout bubble on election day and made a coupla cards to ease the torture. It's more than 24 hours later and it's getting hard to breath up inside this bubble, but I gotta stay in here or lose my mind.

Given that we have whooshed into November and mails are taking longer because of the damnepic, I have to get going full speed with Christmas cards. Still, I feel a bit sorry for autumn. It always gets the bum's rush squished in between Halloween and Christmas in this country. And with Thanksgiving cancelled for many of us, I wanted to make a coupla more cards honoring the wonderful colored leaves Mother Nature bestows on us each year.

Onefer
I'm so pickled tink to have used this NBUS stencil before it got tossed on NBUS Mountain. It's called Four Layer Leaves Stencil by Spellbinders. I blended the leaves using Tim's inks, added the leafy panel to a glittery gold panel, and then added all that to a glittery plum panel. The scalloped stitched oval is from Cottage Cutz and the blessings sediment is from Hero Arts. For a bit of bling-a-ding-ding, Hammy opted for a triplet of ancient flat breads from SU. I mean brads. Flat brads.

Challenges

Twofer
My twofer today is truly an off-shoot of my onefer. After I blended the maple leaves, I spritzed the stencil and laid a piece of white card over the inked stencil. The aperture background above is the result. I think you can just make out the imprint of the leaves. Cool, huh? I always forget to do that because I always forget to even use my stencils. So much schtuff, so little brain cells left!

The inverted stitched scallop frame is from Pink & Main, the watercolored leafy stem is from Memory Box, and the sediment is from SU. This time the little furball chose plain gold sequints from the antique drawer for the bling.

Challenges
  • CAS Mix Up: November watercolor theme: Off the edge. I've stamped, die-cut, watercolored, monoprinted, and stenciled on my card.
  • Little Red Wagon: Colour me happy. (Use coloring on your card.)
  • Pixie's Snippets Playground: A/G using your snippets. The background, leafy stem, and scallop frame are all snippets.

Gorgeous autumn beauties Darnell! We had some sunshine yesterday and there really is nothing to compare to Autumn with a clear blue sky! Every leaf glows!

Two beautiful colourful cards to celebrate Autumn or Fall, depending on where you live. Noisy Bonfire Night here in the UK later on but of course very scaled down I imagine

Your decision to make cards instead waiting for the news was right! Both cards are stunning. Colors are so life as in the nature. And the design is great too. On both. I like the look of print with the stencil.
We are all thinking of you here on the other part of the world.
Stay safe! Hugs, Sonja

Two awesome cards that you and that furry little guy made with the great stencil. Love the ink blending and you know I have never thought of spritzing water on the stencil and then using what is left. A friend and I took a girls day out trip yesterday to a quaint little town called Kimmswick MO. it was a beautiful day, great shopping, and a great lunch. Totally kept our mind off what is going on.

Two beautiful cards Darnell, I love the gorgeous colours you've used. Bonfire Night here in the UK, so it may get a little noisy later on.

Stay safe and well.

Love the warmth of the colors, especially the golden yellows but my favorite is that scrumptious ribbon on the first card! Wow!!

Beautiful cards! I especially love the watercolored leaves, and that gorgeous background! Crafting yesterday was certainly a life line. Looks like there's another day of it ahead. Cardmaking has "saved" me through several rough stretches personally, and I can always count on it to take my mind off whatever is worrying me. It's a blessing!

I am so glad you were able to craft away and keep that anxiety at bay-I am with you there but not crafting too much! These cards are a joy. I adore the Autumn colours and have just got back from a walk where I saw leaves just like this. My fav here is the second card. I love the design and the wonderful over the edge...you know I love that! Sending hugs x

Hi Darnell, what wonderful cards, both are so beautifully designed and coloured, I am leaning towards the first one, I love that gorgeous ribbon.
Good for you keeping a news blackout and attempting to keep sane, I'm crossing everything I have two off in the hope that the result will be the one that reflects sane and compassionate people of your country. The outcome, concerns us over here too, so we too are sitting on the edge of our seats.
Take care, keep sane and keep smiling, hugs, Kate x

What a great stencil for Fall and you got the full benefit of it, Dolly! That ribbon is perfect for a Fall card! Love that leafy branch with the wonderful detail and color! I can see the leaf print in the background and I love it! Don't forget to breathe!

Beautiful cards Darnell! For me 2020 needs to go away! With COVID, election, hurricanes and medical issues with the hubby(anxiety, back problems and surgery) and now maybe another hurricane may come in the gulf again, yes 2020 really needs to go away for me!
Have a great day!

Oh! Such Beautiful cards Darnell, I love the ribbon you used and the gorgeous colours of Autumn, blessings indeed. Your second with the stencil "wash" is fabulous, love the frame and the beautiful leaf die. As for the news etc! I haven't watched the news properly for months, I get the headlines and switch over, it's so depressing and causing so many people a lot of anxiety, even those who have never suffered before. I LOVE your hope quote. Keep safe.

These are both beautiful fall cards. I am sending more Thanksgiving cards this year. So many people are isolated and can use a little cheer. Our family cancelled out Thaksgiving plans because it is just too risky to travel right now.

Hi Darnell, Those cards are so pretty.

Hope the election results are soon announced and Trump told he has no proof of anything illegal going on, so the results stand. Just hope he doesn't rile up his followers, as they seem to all be carrying guns.

Here it is the first day of our second national lockdown. It is supposed to last for four weeks.

Hope you have a lovely day. Sue

The stencilling on your first card looks amazing Darnell and what a vibrant and fabulous card x. Always great to use the stencil again and what a striking Happy Fall card x.
Glued to the TV with the elections, even though there is not much movement at the moment. It will be one less thing to cope with....as you say the chaotic politics x.
Thinking of you Darnell and sending positive thoughts, love and hugs x.

Hi Darnell,
crafting is the remedy for all our ails.
Sorry you had to get into your bubble to survive it all.
I can certainly understand.
Love your fall cards or as we say in the UK Autumn.
Great use of that lovely stencil and gorgeous bright colours too.
Love the plaid ribbon in the centre of the first.
Your second card is also very wonderful and what a great use of those inks left over after the first one it makes a super background.
Love the aperture die it's really pretty.
Sending lots of hugs your way to try and help.
Lots of crafty love from my house to yours. Jenny L.

Such wonderful cards. I love the colors of fall which do not seem to last long enough in Michigan. I have been kind of oblivious to the happenings in the world right now as I have been spending time with the two little grandkids. They make it easy to smile every day and forget everything else. Sadly I return to the real world tonight😄

Beautiful fall colors on your cards Darnell. And I have to thank you for the glittery boo card filled with spiders (lol) that arrived yesterday.

Two wonderful Fall card arrangements. I love how you spritzed and made the second card from the background.

Thanks, I needed Chinmoy's wonderful words. I've been avoiding all media for days now and, oddly enough, getting several things done, too. Anyway, love your autumnal cards...one of my favorite seasons and it is always gone much too soon. So Happy Fall, my dear friend. You're celebrating it in the best way possible under the current circumstances.

I hear you, Darnell. Craziest election ever, and if things don't go right I honestly don't know how I'll deal with it. Wodka? You have two beautiful cards here today, both with the fall theme that I love so much. I, too, have always said that fall cards get the short end of the stick. Check out the ribbon on your first card, woo hoo! Lots of glitter and a beautiful stencil. Your second card is inspiring in so many ways. The beautifully watercolored leafy branch first. Then that gorgeous background which I never remember to do, either. Now I want to go stencil something just so I can make a background like this. So pretty!

Such a pretty Fall card, Darnell - and what a cool plaid ribbon! Just right for our colors! Thanks so much for playing at Sunday Stamps!

Pat said...

What beautiful fall cards and love that leaf stencil in wonderful seasonal colours and that ribbon is just perfect, and your inverted stitched scallop frame using the ink on the stencil gives a great impression and the prettily coloured die cut leafy branch over the top is gorgeous. I think what we have all had to put up with over recent months has been causing stress and know that you have had extra things with the smoke from the fires and the election to contend with too Darnell, so I'm sure we all understand. Take care. x

I am right there beside you with anticipation. I keep turning on the news and then turning it off. I hope soon we can put all this to bed and start living again....with a pandemic of course. Anyhoozal, As for your fabulous fall cards. I love your bold blessings and that fun handmade background. I have many packets of those enamel dots and I love them. As for your second card, love the way you have tucked in your branch and how it's cascading off the edge. These are both terrific Darnell! Thanks for playing along at Just Us Girls. As for the state of the country! Hang on it's liable to get bumpy!

Two very purty cards today - I just love the decorative ribbons on the first and the stem on the 2nd is just perfect for Autumn! I have not watched the returns at all. I turn on the news at 6:30 to see if we have elected a president yet, but beyond that I don't watch tv or get upset. Whomever gets elected we are going to have to deal with for 4 years and there's nothing we can do to change it, so there's no reason to get upset or frantic about it. Half the country will be pleased and half the country will be unhappy - it's just what we've become to one another anymore unfortunately. I'm taking the high road and wishing the newly elected president well regardless of who it might be or how I feel about him. One day at a time is all any of us can do, so keep smiling and just B.R.E.A.T.H.E.

Both of your fall cards are stunning Darnell! The colors and designs are so striking and brightened my day!

Two beautiful autumn cards! Especially the second one - I love the way the background turned out!

Even up here in Canada we felt pretty fraught on your election day. My friend across the street is American and her son is a doctor in California and she said he was beside himself thinking about Covid if the election went in the direction you don't want it to go in. My friend couldn't decide if she could bear to watch the results - or if she should crawl into bed and pull the covers over her head. You know we'd welcome you up here with open arms!!

Got room in that bubble me, it's like Groundhog's Day out here! Two terrific cards to take our minds off the craziness!

Wonderful cards, Darnell! Love the first in it's "coat of many colors", and the flat breads too. The imprint of the second card is quite pretty, and I love that it's there but very discreet.

Inspiration -- your quote is appropriate and wonderful!

Your bubble seems like a great place to be. I'm glad you were able to make some cards - they turned out fantastic!

Just like you, Darnell, I had to go into a crafting bubble for a couple of days. I generally have NPR playing on my radio while I craft, but even that caused too much tension, so I crafted away in silence--for hours. Your leafy cards are wonderfully soothing to the eyes. I love the quiet beauty of Autumn, especially here in the upper Midwest with all our Maples and Elms, Oaks and Birches. You have perfectly reflected those gorgeous trees. Don't worry about the commenting. I'm just happy to see your posts on a regular basis.

I am so pleased you joined us for our CAS Mix Up (watercolored) Off the Edge Challenge, Dolly. Your cool background in the window is perfect for your gorgeous die cut leaves. TFS my dear sweet caring girl friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy

Stay in your crafty bubble Darnell - even from here it doesn't look as though your elections will simmer down for some considerable time!!
Glad to see Hammy is earning his keep with the brads and sequints - they really finish your stunning cards perfectly - he really is getting quite a repertoire of finishing accents :)
Stay safe

Fabulous cards Darnell - I do love the autumnal colours.

I hope things soon settle down. Your election is similar to our BREXIT vote - half of the country will be happy and half will be unhappy. I've stopped watching the news and listening to it on the radio - I can't change anything and all it does is make me anxious.

Take care

Beautiful autumn cards Dolly! I agree ... I never seem to have too much time for Autumn cards, even though it is my favourite season of the year. Your stenciled leaves with the colour ribbon are gorgeous together. What a pretty card!! And great use of your leftover inked stencil to create this beautiful stencil monoprint background. I can definitely see the leaves. So pretty with the leafy sprig and the pretty scalloped frame. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! Love, Lolly

Consider this a hug, my friend! Staying sane & hopeful & at peace has been pretty much impossible for months. Thank goodness for cardmaking & cardmaking friends! For once it's actually been good to have friends I never see since that can go on as normal in a totally not normal world! Does that make sense? Anyway, love that stencil & your second card is gorgeous!
