Hello Stamplings!
I'm out of my bubble! Yay! But don't worry, I'm not seeing STARS because I bumped my head on the way out!πI'm seeing stars because this month the prompt for the Twofer Card Challenge is STARS!
The star stamp my cards have in common is an unmarked stamp that I've had for ages.
⭐✶★☆ππ★☆✶⭐
Onefer
Here you can see my OLC detective card design, the two masks I made so I could blend the colors, and the star stamp I used. Seeing it now on my monitor, I'm karacking up that the detective mask is inspecting the star stamp through his magnifying glass.
I stamped the Katzelkraft detective and the sediment (Paw-some by Taylored Expressions) and applied the masks over them. I used Tim's inks to blend the background and then I gold-embossed the stars across the sky. I decided not to color the detective because he would just compete with the background and possibly be invisible.πThen again, for a detective, being invisible would be a very good thing, so maybe I made the wrong call there.
Hammy came through after wards to make the water spots using a syringe which he uses like a pogo stick. He also put a layer of gloss on top of the frosting on the cupcake I added. (The little dog is part of the stamp, but the cupcake is snot.)
Challenges
- Alphabet Challenge: P is for Party! Congratulations on your 10th birthday!!
- Inkspirational: Night.
- Little Red Wagon: Colour me happy.
This simple Christmas design packs alotsa schparkle! I stamped and gold-embossed the same star stamp I used in my Onefer onto pretty linen paper. From that I die-cut the ornaments from Nestabilities. The sediment (from Stamping All Day) was also gold-embossed. The front panel was attached to a shimmery gold paper mat. Wallah wallah ding dong done.
Challenges
- Cards 4 Galz: Silver and/or gold.
- Merry Little Christmas: Anything Christmas goes.
- Sparkles Christmas: Gold or silver or glitter.
- We Love Chocolate Baroque: November = Christmas.

ReplyDeleteYour cards leave me starry eyed in delight, Darnell. Love the color blended background on the first one and that starry sky. This is sure a fun card. And the second, those stars look so pretty in the ornaments. Mwah! Perfecto. Yes, Covid is running rampant right now. I hope people will buckle down and help get control of it. Masked virtual hugs!
ReplyDeleteThey are both gorgeous, Darnell, and the detective is so cute! xoxo
ReplyDeleteFabulous reports Darnell! Your background on the first is amazing, and the ornaments are beautiful! Hope you and hubby are doing well.
ReplyDeleteA brilliant post as always Darnell!! Pleased that you are out of your bubble. What great cards these are, humour and elegance bound together by just one stamp. Love the gorgeous colours of the inks on the first and fabulous masking too xx
ReplyDeleteThat is some beautiful color blending on the detective card. He is a hoot and I can't believe the dog didn't gobble up that cupcake. The ornaments are so pretty and they do sparkle. I'm glad we can make two of the same cards this month and I'm on it! Yep, Covid is still here and saying it would go away on the 3rd didn't make it so. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Cards are fab.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a lovely week. Sue
Two fab star cards, Darnell!! Great call on the detective left black/white - really pops on your gorgeous background with the starry sky!! Love the white ornaments with the golden star embossing too!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful sky for your stars and that detective is so much fun! I'm glad he's looking close at that snotty cupcake! LOL! Your twofer stars ornament is so elegant and schparkly!
ReplyDeleteHow clever and creative you are, Darnell! Both of your cards are so awesome and it's hard to believe they share a stamp. Well done!
ReplyDeleteMiss Marple would be so proud that a detective appeared on your card delving into the mystery of that cupcake. It's gorgeous background is a stunner. And gold on white...so elegant and festive. Gorgeous to the nth degree. You and Kevin are staying safe and well, I hope.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the blended colours of your vibrant sky as the detective tries to find the birthday cupcake! Gorgeous with the embossed stars on top. Fun and creative card and I think leaving the detective uncoloured was genious! Your two sparkly star ornaments are beautiful and what a lovely Christmas card. Such a great challenge for the last of the year, Dolly! Thank you for all your hard work of running the Twofer challenge! I LOVE to play along! Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteJust love them Darnell, the little detective is so sweet, fabulous colours and sentiment, and your bauble card is so elegant and stylish, again gorgeous colours, Kate x
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards Darnell and a great theme of stars for this last challenge of the year and love the fun detective and a great idea to mask him and the sentiment as they stand out beautifully against the bright starry sky background. The starry white die cut baubles are so pretty too with the gold stars and coordinated sentiment and love the gold shimmery mat in the background. x
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful blending and masking on your first card, love that detective stamp too, not quite sure what he is examining though. Your second card is right up my street, simple and perfect xx
ReplyDeleteThey are both adorable! Love the fun and colourful feel of the first, and also the elegance of the second one!
ReplyDeleteDarnell, I am so loving those white and gold ornaments such a festive and classy design. YOur blended background is quite dreamy with your lil detective hunting among the stars for who knows what. Wonderful cards for sure.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are wonderful. Love you detective card, and your second card is so pretty...Like the sparkle. I'm all sparkly today! I used glitter! Yikes I got it everywhere! I really like to see cards with glitter...Just don't like making cards with glitter!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see this month's theme...Stars. I have something in mind and hopes it works. (Often, I have an idea for a card...and then it doesn't work and that's a far as it goes!)
Wonderful card! I really like how you made two totally different cards with the same stamp. Loving all the gold too. Thanks for joining us at Little Red Wagon again.
ReplyDeleteYou nailed the Twofer, Darnell, with such radically different cards! Since I love mysteries (in books and TV shows, not real life), I love the first card - it's really fun. But my favourite is the second one - such gorgeous blue for all that lovely gold sparkle to shine against!
ReplyDeleteOK, I have to tell you that your detective card is about the cutest card I have seen...I love that you left him uncolored against your vibrant background!! He totally stands out and totally makes me smile! Oh and I like the stars too! And your Christmas card is CAS perfection and just totally elegant! Two FAB cards my friend!! Always a joy to head to your blog (even if I don't always comment!) to see great cards and always a good chuckle too! Stay well and safe!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteLook at little Sherlock and his sidekick, they're too cute!! These are terrific Darnell!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your star-struck cards. That little detective is a hoot--he reminds me of Hercule Poirot. The ornaments are like beautiful in all their starry wonderment. I am hoping to join in on this one. Watch out star stamps, I'm coming for you!!

Your cute little detective sure is detecting against the most luscious star strewn sky, Darnell ... how beautiful is that blending, made all the more yummy with the gold embossed celestial bodies! Perfect call on leaving him uncoloured ... he wouldn't want to blend in when there's cake on offer! Those baubles are so elegant ... stylish, understated and wonderfully shimmery ... and gorgeously CAS! LYAMYEDMCA ... LFTCWYF! Sending big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteFirst, let me say I'm in love with your detective card. Then, if offered, I'm not eating that cupcake if it's "snot." hahahahahaha! Your blended background is awesome, and I love the pogo stick water droplets Hammy helped with. Gorgeous gold embossed stars; perfect for this card. And your Christmas card...CASimply elegant. Those gold stars make perfect ornaments! This is a real stunner. I like them both oodles. You are a superstar! Sending love and hugs, stay safe, too. xoxo Bev
ReplyDeleteThis has got to be one of my all time favorite twofer designs, Darnell! First of all, that stamp is incredible and so different than other star backgrounds I've seen. Then, you used it so differently on both of your cards. It's so CAS and elegant on your Christmas ornaments. I love the white on white! It's also the perfect style for your gorgeously ink blended adorable scene! I love the contrast of the white and the wee little cupcake he found. This really made me smile!
ReplyDeleteIt's a very pretty star stamp! Your two different cards make great examples of the concept, Darnell. Beautiful ornaments all crisply white with the pretty gold stars. Brilliant idea to leave your detective uncolored so he'd stand out against the gorgeous blended background. Such a cute stamp that is! Reminds me of how things mostly appear as shades of gray in the dark of night. Thanks for a year of challenges which I hope to jump into again one of these days. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI am loving that serious little detective fella and can imagine he would come in very handy for all sorts of cards! I love how the mask of him is examining the star stamp too - it made me chuckle and then I spent a pleasant few minutes thinking about the things I could make him examine if he lived in my craft area!! Little things...! Love the schparkle of the schtars in both cards! Glad you didn't REALLY bump your head - that's something to be grateful for in 2020 :D
ReplyDeleteMwah! Vicky x

ReplyDeleteDarnell, the bauble card is stunning - I have that die and need to look for it now! The stars positively glow - really gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteI especially like the simplicity of the gold and white. Clever ideas both x
ReplyDeleteLove them both! Such gorgeous heat embossing. I can see the detectives mind ticking over trying to work out where those stars came from!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards, Darnell! I love them both! The distress inked background is wonderful and the detective is such a fun stamp to have in your stash. Love it! I don't play much with my stars so I just might have to find a way to make two and join you! Thank you for playing with us for our 10th anniversary at the Alphabet Challenge and hope you can join us again soon.
ReplyDeleteAmazing duo Darnell! Love the night scene you masked with a pop of black and white remaining. Thank you for joining us at INk!
ReplyDeleteAh yes--amazing how that didn't happen?!--Covid magically disappearing. How do people with brains actually believe all the ridiculous thoughts out there?! If only the leaders had said "wearing a mask makes you the greatest" instead of "no need to wear a mask". Anyway--For some reason the stars prompt is a hard one for me, but I'm putting on my thinking cap! I do really love your starry ornaments!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous designs Darnell. I keep meaning to join you and well..... Must make an extra effort. Twofers are great at this time of year. Hugz
