Hello Stamplings!
How are you? Happy St. Patrick's Day! Mother Nature is putting on her usual March theatrical productions across the universe. I hope she sits down and has a Guinness so everyone can get a break!
I was hoping to start posting more often, but now that I'm fully vaccinated, I am catching up on appointments that I have had to put off for a year. Doctors and dentists are going to be swarmed with appointments.
Swarm is one of those words that sounds like what it does, huh? Still, you can't help but think it might have been used for a situation like a fierce workout where you end up all sweaty and warm. "How are you?" asks your friend. "Swarm!" you reply.
In my case, I'd be all sweaty and HOT, so I guess my reply would be "Shot!"
Okay, okay, moving on, I've got two fruity cards for you today:
There is only one week left in the current Twofer Card Challenge where the prompt is YOUR CHOICE! I know, right? So if you are making a card for something else, you can make two and play in Twofer! Win-win! You can use any stamp, stencil, or die you want; you just have to use it on both cards and make them distinctly different design layouts for different occasions.
For my Twofer reminder inspiration for you, I am using an awesome NBUS set of stamps called, "Layered Citrus." They were designed for STAMPlorations by my friend Shirley Bee. I had to have the set the minute I saw it, but then you know how it goes ... it got put away and ingored.
Onefer
Slurp! For this birthday card, I used an old cocktail glass from a company no longer in business. While Hammy glossified the drinkie poo and the juicy slab of lemon, I die cut the enjoy die from Penny Black several times and glued the stack together. Passing that to his nibs to be glossified, I stamped a shadow and adhered the linen panel (embossed with wonky stitches from MFT) onto a shiny gold mat. The design was finished by attaching the glass, wedge of lemon, and sediment.
Challenges
- Alphabet Challenge: Y is for Yellow.
- Retro Rubber: Anything goes. The layered slices set is from 2018.
- Simply Create Too: Wet or Dry Embossing.
Twofer
Doesn't this look refreshing? I think this will bring a smile and much-needed hugs to a dear friend. The shadowed hugs die is from PTI. I used the remaining slices in Shirley's set for this design. I stamped the outline, then overstamped the insides in various citrus colors and then fussy-cut them. After they were dry from Hammy's glossifying, I adhered them to a scored snippet of linen card to make the second design cohesivate with the first design.
Hic. Sorry, my typing is slurring from just looking at card number one!
Challenges
- Addicted to Stamps and More: Make your mark.
- Happy House: The color orange.
- HLS Anything Goes With Dies: March A/G.
~~~
I can't wait to see which stamp, die, or stencil you choose for your prompt and the two distinctly different designs you create with it for two different occasions. You can find a list of occasions on the challenge side bar.
Enjoy your day!
Hi Darnell, Love the cards and the 3D effect so lifts them.
ReplyDeleteHope you can catch up with all your appointments. I've only had the first jab. With the second coming anywhere up to 21st May. We've been told to keep our medical appointments, even before we got the first jab. Some places just weren't doing their clinics, whilst others were only dealing with emergencies.
Hope you have a nice day. Sue
My OH was only saying that we need to get our dental apts when we have had our 2nd dose anytime up to the 12th May!
ReplyDeleteThose citrus slices look good enough to eat, great glossing by Hammy too. :)
Oh how lovely and colourful are both your cards Darnell the fruit slices are so lovely 😊 and a great addition to your cards hope all goes well and no delays take care enjoy your day xx
ReplyDeleteTwo festive cards !!!!!
ReplyDeletegroeten Ineke
Your bright and colorful fruity cards are AMAZING Darnell...I'd love to take a sip of that drinky-poo and it's only 6:55AM!! The fruit slices are so yummy looking and Hammy did a great job glossifying them up!! (FYI...I think the shadowed HUGS die you used is from PTI (Big Hugs) and not MFT.) Glad you've had your 2nd shot and that you're catching up on all those missed appointments from this past year...isn't it great to have something to do again?!! Haha!! Seriously though, hope they all go great and life starts getting back to "normal" for all of us! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteTwo fantastic cards Darnell and the colours are so summery too. A reminder that it's on the way.
ReplyDeleteSeu xx
So happy to hear you are fully vaccinated. Hopefully all your other appointments go smoothly and things are looking up. Your cards are bright and cheery and I thank you for sharing them. :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! Absolutely LOVE both of these Darnell, cheery bright and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteFaith x
Waiting for my second jab!
Top O' The Morning to ya! Happy St. Patrick's Day. Two beautiful cards. Refreshing looking. I just purchased some lemon/limes and may give it a whirl.
ReplyDeleteFlorida finally let people age 60 get their shots starting this past Monday. We got our 1st one. I called and asked if they were going to have a waste avoidance. They said so many people cancelled so we were able to get right in. Even my daughter in law was able to get one from Wal Mart yesterday because so many people had cancelled and they will go to waste. Utterly ridiculous for people to make appointments and then not show up. My rant for the day and it's early. Sheesh. Hiccup. Oh, mercy, I looked at the first card too long too. [Bunny]
A very refreshing post today Darnell...love the cocktail, for me with that juicy lemon slice it has to be a G & T. I love the matching yellow card and the stacked up die cut sentiment and lots of winking to finish, and wow the bright orange is a great background colour for your orange, lemon and lime wedges and another great looking large sentiment. x
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards, Darnell xoxo
ReplyDeleteI think everyone should have a "Hammy" helper in their craft room - sounds like fun and he does such a great job! :) Your cards are both awesome, Darnell. That orange slice on the right sure looks like it's sticking straight out from the card.
ReplyDeleteOh what bright cheery twofers - love the citrus wedges - oh I could think of a lot of drinks to put those in. We are totally vaccinated as well so yes it time to play catch up.
ReplyDeleteI'm clicking my drink against yours for a St. Paddy's Day toast. I love both cards and cheers to Hammy for his great work. I'm lining up my appointments too. Had one this morning at 7:25. I had forgotten how many people are out and about at that time of morning. Very dark and foggy so not a pleasant drive.
ReplyDeleteIt is exciting to get that 2nd shot, I had mine in January being a nurse and dear hubby and my parents just got their 2nd one so life will be easier in a couple weeks! Your cards are beautiful, the fruit looks so realistic with Hammy's final glossy touch!
ReplyDeleteI can feel my mouth puckering up looking at all that citrus. A cool martini would be a treat about now but, since it's St. Patrick's Day, a Guinness will do, nicely.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, love these cards...refreshing is the ideal word for them.
Well now, my mouth is watering just looking at both of these cards Auntie! lol Loving the glass on your first twofer, such a pretty one! Love the slice of citrus on the side of the glass like that. Yep, my mouth is watering for a cocktail after seeing yours. Your hugs twofer is bright and cheery. I love all the colors of your citrus. Those oranges, lemons and limes look so yummy! I need to kick it in gear if I want to join in on the challenge. Just gotta decide what to use! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteJuicy, mouth watering fruit, Dolly! Love those bright citrus colors! Love those letters! Might have to go shopping!
ReplyDeleteLooks as if Hammy had his way with his widdle stwaw and slurped that lemony goodness right up!! And who could blame him?? Gosh that lemon slice is looking so juicy, and real!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully colored fruits of Shirley's loins - I mean lines!
xx
Ooh these are both gorgeous and bright and are making me thirsty! Hammy's glossing is marvellous. I am so glad you have had both vaccinations and can catch up on your appointments - that's so cool! I have had my first and Darren is having his first on Saturday. Big hugs my friend! xxxxxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteThese cards are both so much fun, but I'm leaning toward the fruits on the 2nd card! They look so yummy as if they're bursting right off the card! I wish I could get started on my twofer, but my brain went on vacation without asking me to go along. LOL
ReplyDeleteI will join you asap. Two really great cards, they have everything going for them. Super images, great colours and lovely designs.
ReplyDeleteKath x
Lovin' al of the fresh fruit slices! You've made me long for a glass of homemade lemonade! SO happy you've had your vaccines! We're still on the list and waiting.....
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, Darnell!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are making me crave a lovely citrus-y drink! Both are so cheerful in their summery colours. Hmm - "citrus-y" "summery" I seem to be devolving into "y" ending adjectives. My brain must need that drink!
ReplyDeleteTwo happy citrus cards, Darnell, though the drinkie-poo is calling my name :) Just love the glossification and the yummy linen on card one and all the citrus slices on card two!! You've been busy - enjoy your continued running to appts!!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I love both your cards. I love fruit of all kinds, even when it's mixed with alcohol. he he Screwdriver anyone? I get my second jab tomorrow morning. Then I will also be making all those appointments I've put off for a year. Hate the thought of all that poking and prodding, but it's time to put on my big girl pants and get 'er done.
ReplyDeleteAll your fruit is making my mouth water, Dolly:-) Two beautiful cards and so different from each other...love that!!! TFS my friend. Love and Hugs..Nancy
ReplyDeleteOoh, Darnell! You and Hammy make the juiciest fruits and the best cocktails! Glad to hear you’re fully vaccinated. Here’s to life returning to normal. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteWonderful Twofers and those slices of citrus look so yummy! I have not posted much this week either as I had other things to catch up on now that I am done with running to the doctor so much.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being fully vaccinated, that's a milestone. Love these two, they are so bright and cheery and so shiny xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful bright and cheery cards! Yes, I will also be catching up on appointments.
ReplyDeleteI'm late with my comment because (hic) I've admired the cocktail glass too long. :-) Amazing and colorful fruity twofer! I like CAS birthday card. Sentiment is very effective with more layers and the slice of lemon looks great. The hugs card in orange with slices of citrus is cheerful and fresh and perfect. Thank you for entering this card into the orange gallery of Vesela hiška.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine how stressful it can be to settle down everything that was on the waiting list for one year.
Take care and stay safe!
Hugs, Sonja
Two amazing cards Darnell!!! Love those big pieces of citrus fruit!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you and I are doing the same thing - catching up on appointments. Only I'm not vaccinated yet, even with underlying conditions I keep being told wait for my age group. So frustrating! I'll have a drink with you especially after this last year. I'm already done with 2021. Is it 2022 yet??
ReplyDeleteTwo fantastic cards using those juicy citrus slices, Dolly. My mouth is watering already! :) Great designs on both cards. I can see the second card creating some happy for the recipient. Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous! I do love a good lemon drop martini and the juicy colors on card two are so fun. Thanks so much for playing along with the HLS die cut challenge. -- xxx - Julie (also fully vaccinated.) :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat happy and fabulous cards Darnell. The fruit looks so real and the both designs look wonderful x. Yes I could go a G + T right now x.
ReplyDeleteHappy St Patrick's Day Darnell. Your cards are wonderful and it would be delightful o see more of your cards. I hope your appointment to the dentist was successful. You are right about swarming the docs/ dentists. But I worry about not being used to seeing so many people after a long time.. SO yes there is an apprehension. Your cards are wonderful and soooo cheerful be the colors or theme.. Love the use of die cuts.. Very Very amazing. Thank you for playing along with us Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies. DT Dhruvika @the_cardogram
ReplyDeleteOh these are utterly fabulous Darnell - (I must have a little look at that set!) The colours, the sentiments the designs... everything is perfect and maybe I'm feeling that it must be the cocktail hour! I think 'swarm' is a response to the question 'what's the weather like in your neck of the woods?' Mwah, Vicky x
ReplyDeleteI'll take em both, but most especially the cocktail!
ReplyDeleteThat absolutely IS a fabulous stamp set! Oh, how I adore citrus colors. Such a breath of fresh air! Two very cute cards, Darnell. Really love the hugs die with the leafy pattern on it. Looks so perfect with the citrus slices. We got our first COVID vaccines yesterday FINALLY! Yay! I'm still running behind on everything, so apologies for not getting here sooner. I would love to stamp and post more, too. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great CAS design! I love the way you colored the glass and the choice of the word die cut! Thanks so much for joining us at the Alphabet Challenge - Y is for Yellow!
ReplyDeleteRachelle DT : )
My tongue is just tingling at this mouthwatering twofer, Darnell ... both cards are so zesty and zingy! The shimmer and shine on your cocktail (it's a wodka one isn't it?) make it look chilled to perfection and ready to sip (or slurp) ... and the dimension on those hugging citrus wedges is just fantastic ... positively pluckable off the screen! LYAMYLALMCA ... HACW! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteDear Darnell: I'm so glad you are fully vaccinated, my hubby and I will be too on April 14th., we are still wearing our masks everywhere we go WHEN we go like to the grocery store, post office, hair dresser, etc. I hope all of us who get the vaccine still wear our masks.
ReplyDeleteBut now, about this awesome card.....it's delicious looking, and looks refreshing too.
Is it a Margarita? Whatever it is, looks yummy and fabulous, love the font on the awesome sentiment.
Thank you so much for sharing with us at RETRO RUBBER, we hope you come and play again next time.
Stay healthy and safe, my dear.
XO
Oh my gosh, those citrus slices are amazing! They look like they could pop right off the page and on to my plate (or drink!)!!! So fresh and fun! Thanks for sharing these with us at Retro Rubber this week!
ReplyDeleteLove the cocktail glass! Looks like it really has a drink (for now) in it!
ReplyDeleteThe fruit slices look almost real & I love both your cards, Darnell! That hugs die is such a great one--always think I should have gotten it! If only we were neighbors--I'd share my huge stash of spray mists barely used & I'd borrow your die!
ReplyDeleteI am so behind on my commenting that I probably missed a lot going on with you, Darnell. Two months away kind of put a kink in my crafting, posting and commenting.
ReplyDeleteI love your slurpy looking citrus, so refreshing and colorful.
Love all of the cards in this post. I love the one with the Martini glass, the lemons are awesome. Thanks for joining us at Retro Rubber this time. Claire DT
