Hello Stamplings!
How was your week? Did you see the Super Flower Blood Moon Lunar Eclipse? Easy for me to say. It was awe-mazing!
In this country, we are whooshing headlong into a holiday weekend. I hope you stay safe out there on the roads if you go out adventuring. No matter what, enjoy this last weekend in May because that's June standing over there on the Tuesday calendar square!
I've missed a few of my favorite challenges recently, so I'm pickled tink to be able to join today with these cards.
Onefer
It all started with the current Color Hues challenge where the colors are purple and teal. Teal is one of my all-time favorite colors. Purple not so much, but they do look cool together, especially with a touch of green. This card features a NBUS stamp from Cottage Cutz called, "Chrysanthemum Flower November" which I colored with Ziggies and Hammy winked. The scalloped die is from PTI.
The above card has too much green for the Color Hues challenge so I am entering this card instead:
For this QACAS design, I used ancient Bissell paper for the card base and the inset panel is a scrap of Brusho background in purple and teal, with a hint of lemon, which I hope is okay. The die is "Garden Poppy Stitched Frame" from poppystamps and the sediment is from SSS.
Challenges
- Addicted to Stamps and More: Make your mark. #1
- Color Hues: Purple and teal. #2
- Double D: Flower of the month of November: Chrysanthemum. #1
Twofer
And this card started out being for the Rudolph Days challenge which runs from the 25th to the last day of the month. It's a wonderful way to build your stash throughout the year. The design spark came from a scrap of rainbow foil I wanted to use up. I paired it with the black framed evergreen trees ("Sloping Hillside" from poppystamps) and I love the nighttime Northern Lights feel that happened.
The Joy sediment die is from Winnie & Walter and although the photo doesn't show it, even the bling gems are rainbow-colored.
Challenges
- Christmas 24: Christmas night #034.
- Jingle Belles: Bling on the holidays.
- Rudolph Days: Anything Christmas goes.
- Simon Says Stamp Monday: Frame it.
- Simon Says Stamp Wednesday: Anything goes.

The Hamster Wheel of Life
My friend Susan shared this quote with me and I wanted to share it with you. It was written by her friend Gerry Trentham:
"June last year was pushed to this year, this year it's pushed to next year, next year may never come, what never comes might show up tomorrow, and tomorrow is, of course, only an idea and never a reality until it is today and then it's too late to do anything about it other than that which you are already doing."
I couldn't have said it better!

So live in the moment and enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower! Please let me know you came by so I can be sure and return the flavor. I'm still having pain when I type, so it will be slow-going on the return visits for a while longer. It means a lot that you keep coming by and leaving me love even when I can't make it by your place. Mwah!

Two super cards and an interesting quote - great stuff. Enjoy the weekend
ReplyDeleteWe didn’t get to see the lunar happening over here. Only those in the west coast. So glad you’re in the playhouse and amazed you get out a blog post with all the typing. I had a bump in my recovery road (to me it was) nothing out of the ordinary per the doc. But finally feeling better and have energy so I’m back in the studio creating. The Girls and I are staying in this weekend. They’re sleeping and I’ll watch stock car racing. Take care my friend. Warm hugs, Nan and the Girls p.s. love the cards especially the last one. ;)
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful in their unique ways. Love the flowers on the first and the stunning rainbow foil on the second. The black really makes it pop. Wow! The quote you shared is quite the convoluted truth of the matter! Thank you for sharing, Darnell. You are a treasure!
ReplyDeleteWe on the east coast didn't get to see that beautiful moon but I'm glad y'all did.
ReplyDeleteYour twofer card makes me wish I had a piece of that beautiful paper. It is awesome. [Bunny]
How dare you say purple is not a colour you like!! I will forgive you with this gorgeous flower and coloured so beautifully and what a wonderful sky in your second card xx
ReplyDeletePretty cards! Love the scalloped edges on your first card and the rainbow colors on your second card! The quote from your friend is sooooo true!
ReplyDeleteDidn’ t see the moon. I went out at the time it was said to see it around here but cohldn’t see a moon anywhere it was so cloudy Even had my camera ready. 🙁
Have a great day!
Marilyn ❤️
Your cards are beautiful. Your coloring of the floral card is awe-mazing! The Joy card is just that...pure joy with the feel of the Northern Lights. Enjoy a near-normal Memorial Day weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou are my sunshine!
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards my friend!
Both Beautiful designs and colours Darnell, love the scalloped die and stamp on the first and the gorgeous rainbow shine of the second. As for the quote, Yep! that's right :)
ReplyDeleteFaith x
D we missed it - behind all the cloud cover! Tom couldn't have been more disappointed, I have to say.
ReplyDeleteThe other thing I have to say: please make this fabulous CH card over - I am sure I was disqualified for using green last time! at least it was me that felt the finger pointing in the script about it not being eligible as a neutral. I KNOW how can you have flowers without a little green??
Your card is absolutely gorgeous - just wanted you to know, because well you know me and rules...
Gorgeous Northern Light-ness on your twofer! Joy, indeed!
=]
Both cards are beautiful!! The northern lights one is amazing with the foil you have used to create the effect! Don't forget to add your card to Double D, I just did all my commenting there and didn't see your card! Thanks for joining us there, too!
ReplyDeleteThat chrysanthemum card is gorgeous and I really like the scalloped frames. The rainbow foil is stunning and does look like the Northern Lights. What a wonderful card that is. I followed along perfectly with the Hamster quote. That is my way of thinking! To much cloud cover and I was disappointed not to see the moon. I only saw pictures that were posted.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards, Darnell. Purple and teal are my favorite colors, so I love that one xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Loving both cards.
ReplyDeleteWe have a holiday weekend as well. Usually that means rain, but we live in hope.
Take care
Sue
Wow! Darnell your cards are wonderful. I absolutely love the rainbow Christmas sky and the subtle dotty background too. Thanks so much for playing along with Christmas 24. Deborah, DT.
ReplyDeleteSadly, we didn't see an eclipse in Wales, but the moon was stunning!
Missed the super moon, too, due to storms in the Sierras. But that's OK, going to bed early was a real treat, anyway.
ReplyDeleteDo love you cards, though. I was surprised how much I like teal and purple together, so that's a win. And the "Joy" card is spectacular. Someday I'm going to see those Northern Lights in person...I hope.
Gerry's quote...well, couldn't have said it better myself.
Your cards are so wonderful and well designed. And, so glad you could join in on some challenges too. I hope soon you will be feeling much better. But if you are like me you cope as best you can with what ails you and try to still live life anyway! I enjoyed the quote too! Sure makes sense to me.
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell,
ReplyDeleteHappy Rudolf Days.
As Always your both cards are beautifully created.
Love the colours on both but the Rudolf one is so gorgeous with that coloured foil and so unusual too.
A very interesting quote with the lovely picture of Hammy on his wheel.
So glad you are managing to create and blog again you have been missed in the Rydolf Challenge.
Thank you for joining the Rudolf Challenge.
Lots of crafty love and hugs from my house to yours. Jenny L.
Such pretty Chrysanthemum flowers Darnell and shown off beautifully by the double pierced scalloped frame and finished with a great sentiment, and then the wonderful depiction of the Northern Lights with the rainbow foil and the die cut inset sentiment using more of the same...fabulous, and some pretty snowy dots embossed on the background card. I have also not been able to enter the challenges I normally like to as we have been having work done in our cloakroom and bathroom so I have been fixed on that. Painting at the moment is on a larger scale than cards...lol. x
ReplyDeleteTwo amazing cards,Darnell! Oh the first one, summer on paper, that's for sure! Love them both XO
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are so pretty Dolly! Wonderful watercolouring. LOVE purle and teal together!! Your foiled rainbow sky looks amazing with this die cut from black card stock. Great way to use up a scrap of foil!! Fantastic quote from Susan's friend. Love it! Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteLove both these cards, brilliant colouring and framing on the first one and amazing shine on the second xx
ReplyDeleteI love the first card, it is so happy and it fills me with a good mood. The second card is a true color madness. It looks so amazing with this dies.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
BożenA
Love the whimsical floral bouquet, Darnell, and yes Color Hues says green is not a neutral. :( Your foil version of the aurora borealis is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards, Darnell. The image on the first card is so pretty and I love the sentiment. Your beautiful second card reminds me of the two occasions we hoped to see the Northern Lights, once in Finland and once in Iceland. Perhaps it will be third time lucky if we ever get to go that north again. xx
ReplyDeleteI love the stamp and your coloring on the first card, and I love the rainbowness of the second card. Awesome, both of them!
ReplyDeleteThe purple and teal card is beautiful! Enjoy your day, and feel well.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty bouquet, Dolly! Love how you've colored it! Awesome colors in the Brusho background with the framed die cut and pretty paper in the background! Fantastic use of rainbow foil on the 3rd card! It does look like the Northern lights and perfect with the die cut silhouetted trees! You've been busy, my friend! Hope you have something special planned for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes, yes I love your cards. Glad to see you making cards, hope it means you are feeling better. Hugs to you, Darnell.
ReplyDeleteThree Gorgeous cards, Dolly! Did you hear my out loud Wows?!? Loved your cards with the beautiful color hues and your Stunning foil night sky Christmas card. TFS all your beauties, my sweet friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteWhile I really liked your first card, I thought, hmm, that green may be a problem - but then you totally nailed it for the second one, it's gorgeous! And then your third card... fabulous background and beautiful card. Thanks for adding your card to Addicted to Stamps and More and Color Hues!
ReplyDeleteI know your subheadings say "Onefer" and Twofer," but it sure looks like you've got a "Threefer" in there to me! I love all your cards, but the Christmas one is really fabulous. I love the suggestion of the Aurora Borealis in the background. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteGreat selection of cards Darnell. Love your first flower card and the sentiment is awesome, your Christmas card wow what a stunner. Great way to use your foil and have to keep this one in mind ♥
ReplyDeleteYour cards are just beautiful, such lovely bright colours, and the northern lights effect is just right for a happy Rudolph day. Take care, don’t overdo it! Xxx
ReplyDeleteOh help - my computer is in danger...I am drooling over these amazing cards Darnell!!! Loving them all, but I think my favourite on is the second for the colour challenge - I love aqua/teal and purple together, ands you have really nailed this one.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that Hammy is being a good boy and working hard for you :)
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine

Darnell, I missed a lot these last ten days and the Super Moon was one of them. Too much worry, sadness, and decisions to be made in my personal life, sorry to say. As for your cards, I just love that chrysanthemum stamp and that sentiment sure says it all. As for your entry at Color Hues...I am loving the vibrant background with the white flowers peeking out. The background reminds me of the Northern Lights. Speaking of Northern Lights... your third card is as vibrant and pretty as can be. I love that the script was done with the same colors. Awesome post and always a pleasure to hear from you and see you with us at Color Hues. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThree beautiful cards, Darnell! So glad to see you in the Color Hues gallery! Love that Brusho background--a perfect backdrop for the white frame and florals! Thanks for joining us at Color Hues!
ReplyDeleteThanks for including my friend Gerry's quote - it is so perfect for these crazy times. And a great day to use it as he would love all that vibrant colour going on in your cards! I too love it - especially the colours in the flowers in the first card - the purple and teal are stunning together. And the "northern lights" in the third card are fabulous. Now back outside to my gardening - speaking of colour, I've got lilacs and rhododendrons blooming their heads off - such a glorious time of year here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful designs. Love the purple and teal chrysanthemums. hanks for sharing with us at Double D Challenge Blog. We hope you will join us again.

ReplyDeleteGreat post, Darnell! I enjoyed reading it and admiring your wonderful cards. The chrysanthemum is fantastic colored and scalloped frame matches perfectly. The second card is perfect for the color challenge. I've never thought about to combine purple and teal. Your card show me that this combination is very nice. The Christmas card with a touch of rainbow coloures is just great. Thank you for sharing the quote.

Wow! These are awesome, Darnell, each one so beautiful and unique! They are great assets to your stash, and beautifully played at your challenges
ReplyDeleteI thought I hadn't seen the poppy card card when I last popped by Darnell. The Brusho panel looks fab with the dotty purple background and white die cut elements. So pleased you joined us again at the Color Hues. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell! I love all three of your beautiful cards! My favorite is the purple and teal! Love that color combo. Hope y'all are having a wonderful weekend. Hugs, Carol :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards, love the northern lights and love the quote that Susan sent you x.
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love all the color here! What beautiful cards, Darnell. You ran the spectrum from summer flowers to Christmas. Beautiful rainbow colors on your Christmas card. I did not see the lunar eclipse as it showed at 4 in the morning and I was finally having a decent night's sleep for the first time in a few days. Shame to miss it. I did see the full moon, though. It was apparently 14% bigger than usual, but I couldn't really tell.
ReplyDeleteA Fabulous trio !
ReplyDeleteYou made our challenge colors shine on that second card!
Thank you so much for joining us at Color Hues!
Stunningly beautiful - thanks for joining in with us at Christmas 24 - Jacqueline DT x

ReplyDeleteLinda, DT
Oh my goodness, Darnell. I love all three cards. But the multicoloured foil on the Rudolph Days Challenge card steals the show! What a fab foiled paper. Looks great with the trees and the lovely die.
ReplyDeleteI am a big believer in the need to find joy in your life every day. Even if it the joy that you can find in the smallest of things, it is still a treasure...so I always love finding and treasuring daily joy in my life!
Thanks for taking part in the May Rudolph Days Challenge.
Your two florals are just so pretty, Darnell ... there's a lovely sense of charm and whimsy about the chrystanthemums framed with the delicate scallops ... and a fresh almost-graphic feel to the crisp poppy die cuts against the brusho panel ... delicious! How brilliant is that rainbow foil ... you're right, it does bring the Aurora Borealis to mind ... it's vibrant, stylish and wonderfully bold! LYAMYHMCA ... TOYAPAWW! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful cards with great framing and sentiments. But your Rudolph card is amazing, very northern lights indeed.
ReplyDeleteThose Northern Lights are spectacular!
ReplyDeleteOH I love the first card!

ReplyDeleteMy dear Darnell, shock horror I’ve popped over at last. I’m in love with these cards on this post, two of my fav combos, esp love the brusho..card, those are great colours, design and contrasts, must remember that one.. mm.
ReplyDeleteGrey matter cogitation here.
Such a satisfying word cogitating isn’t it? I do enjoy words and your play around with them!..
I’m wondering if you’re doing as Loll is (and I am also) your own feedburner emails for Twofer and NBUS challenge must confess I’m old school and depend on email reminders, it’s defunct next month according to blogger. It’s taking me ages to clear our spam emails but reduced by half so far was 1250, now in 600s .. what is curious I can see a pattern in some of them.. if you delete enough it appears... and all are outlook... so far.
Am going okay for me, pray you are too.
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, prayer hugs Shaz in Oz.x

Sadly we were very overcast the night of the Super Blood Moon but the sky was bright. My hubby saw the eclipse on the way to work in the morning. I have not been anywhere lately, but had to pop in. Your cards are so pretty, it is so fun to create with flowers. I have moved to Follow It, they made it easy by copying all my email followers over for me. Hope I can get better at visiting blogs and maybe making a few cards too.
ReplyDeletethat rainbow foil is fabulous ... thanks for helping us Bling on the Holidays at Jingle Belles.
ReplyDeleteLove your cards, Darnell! The rainbow Christmas card is really fun & love that you even used rainbow gems! Gorgeous bouquet card, too!
ReplyDeleteTres tres super. Your creativity leaves me speechless. Great job.
ReplyDeletewww.rsrue.blogspot.com
The flowers on the first card have wonderful colors, I especially love the dark blue one, it reminds me of summer cornflowers. In the second card I admire the choice of the base color for the watercolor panel, choosing purple is a bull's eye. In the third card, I love the all-encompassing rainbow. I especially like how the rainbow looks through the words JOY. Triple WOW!
