Hello Stamplings!
How's every little thing?
I've got more party designs on the ol' blog today! (I have a lot of June birthday cards to make.)
Onefer
Over on the CAS Mix Up challenge this month, it's all about using rainbows with a stencil. I opened up my Stencil Binder and this Tim Holtz stencil was the first one I saw ... perfick! I masked and blended my rainbow using CP inks and added a snarky sediment because, again, perfick with all those numbers! Wait. What? You want more numbers? Well then we will add foam tape to the rainbow panel and pop it up over the top of a number e/f!
Challenges
- AAA Birthday: Happy 2nd Birthday! Anything birthday goes.
- Addicted to Stamps and More: Die cuts and/or stencils.
- CAS MIX UP: Rainbow stenciling with blended inks using makeup brushes, plus masking, and embossing.

Now this card just fell into place and here's how it went.
A few months ago I had a white PARTY die cut which I wanted to be purple so I blended purple ink over it. I don't even remember where it came from because it has been in my Bits Binder forever. After wards, I saw Hammy admiring the fun pattern that developed on the scratch paper from the blending, so I set it aside in the Set It Aside Binder.
Then last week, my dear friend Sandie, who owns and has run the fantastic TIME OUT challenge for seven years, announced that she was having to leave her challenge for health reasons. I know this is heart-breaking for her so there was no way I was going to miss joining in this month. But the brief was a real challenging one for me: MOVE.
Hmmm ...
I've been thinking on it for a few days and yesterday I was leafing through Container 281 in the Mt. NBUS Chamber of Caves and I came across a cute set from Craft Emotions called "Savanne 1" and as soon as I saw that leopard moving hell bent for leather, I knew I had found the perfect stamp for the MOVE prompt!
And since this is intended as a celebration party card for Sandie to thank her for all she's done and since Sandie's favorite color is purple, what better focus pocus for the leopard to be running towards than a pretty piece of purple patterned party paper?! So I put two and two together. Then I thought the top half of the scrap paper was pretty meh, so I added the two-toned die-cut party sediment from Winnie & Walter to complete the composition.
I wish you all the best with your health, Sandie, and I appreciate all the hard work and love you have put into TIME OUT for seven years! Mwah! It is my prayer that your health will improve and you will be able to retake the reins down the road.

I haven't shared a photo of my motorcycling Mister for you ladies in a while:
He was dreamy before, but look at him back from a ride and greeting his beloved little Nellie!
Hello, hi, remember me, your wifey over here taking the photo? Do I get a hug, too? Oh, never mind, she has stolen his heart.
~~~
Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy and keep safe! LITS!*
Two fabulous cards - well done for saving the bits involved in the second one
ReplyDeleteLove your rainbow stenciled numbers Darnell and the purple inked one is perfect as a tribute to Sandie. Glad you've been able to settle to some crafting even if the OH has his eyes on another woman! :)
ReplyDeleteTwo stunning cards Darnell, I love them both.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Gorgeous cards! Love the snarky comment!! Glad your husband is getting some motorcycle time in.
ReplyDeleteOh Darnell, treasure that dreamy man and his heart-throb pooch!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabtabulous pair of cards - loving the moving party card - that's amazing. The number one is such a cheerful, fun one that I am sure the recipient will love it, especially with the snarky sediment.
Well done Hammy on spotting the potential of that stenciled paper!!
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
Lovely birthday card. I too live in the desert (Death Valley area). My husband rides bikes. Nothing better than a man in leathers after a ride. Plus the pooch. Bonus. Oh yeah, I have a dog, Pickles, that is the tan version of yours.
ReplyDeleteI hope you're doing better.
Craft On dear crafty friend!
Oh thank you so much for your kind words and the perfect card for me! Love the purple and especially the way you used the sentiment. And that fun image...like me running away! Or running to a new way of life is a more positive way to look at it! And adore the fun first card, I am 55 soon and so need more numbers xx
ReplyDeleteCute cards!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Marilyn ❤️
So pretty.
Two fantastic cards with lots of letters involved Darnell, and love tbe rainbow stencilling and background embossing on the first, and that wonderful scrap piece with 'party' printed all over to go with that fun zooming leopard..absolutely great!! A super photo also of the Mister in his leathers with sweet little Nellie too. x
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are fabulous!! Love the pretty bright and cheerful colors on the first, and the sentiment is great too! Love the design of the second one, isn't it fun how it all came together? Great pic of the hubby and Nellie too, I sure do miss our Nellie, she was such a part of my heart!
ReplyDeleteLove they birthday numbers. At our age we just have to make fun of our birthdays. The second card is a fabulous celebration card. A perfect reason to never throw anything out, thus the piles of stuff!
ReplyDeleteLove them both, Darnell!! Can I ask where the sentiment on the first card comes from? You still have my email, I believe....Also the thinking behind your second card for Sandie is PERFECT!!!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are so well designed and beautiful! And your man is very handsome too! Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is, "You let that gorgeous hunk of beefcake go out looking like that? It's a wonder there isn't a line of biker babes pounding on your front door." It's a good thing that the sweet pup's name is Nellie...maybe it will remind him of you. (Kidding)
ReplyDeleteThink both your cards are brilliant. Snarky birthday cards are the best, especially in rainbow colors. Thanks for sharing is with CAS Mix Up.
And your cleverness is showing with that leopard charging into the purple party zone. Love how you upcycled the left over paper and treated that sentiment. Brilliant.
Great cards, and great to see the Mister and Nellie too! xoxo
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards, Darnell! I love how neat your rainbow colours on the numbers card are, and I’m definitely going to pinch, er, CASE, the layered stencilling technique, it looks great! I just pinned both cards to my Pinterest, and very nearly pinned the Mister to my secret board 😄
ReplyDeleteTwo absolutely fabulous cards Darnell and gorgeous Nellie lovely photo of your hubby too enjoy your day xx
ReplyDeleteAmazing numbers card, so bright and colourful! Thanks for playing at AAA Birthday, hope to see you join in with future challenges too. Stay safe and keep crafting!
ReplyDeleteThat's one fine looking Mister and Darnell, and it's a gorgeous photo of him and little Nellie.
ReplyDeleteI love your two cards, brilliant designs and the sentiments are super, what fabulous colours too, Kate x
Two really great cards today, I particularly like the party one. It is perfect for Sandie's last challenge. Thanks for sharing a picture of your Mister, I am so glad to see that he wears full leathers for his motor bike rides. When I have been to America it has been so common to see people riding bikes with absolutely no protection, not even a helmet. It is gratifying to see that not every American motorcyclist is stupid! xx
ReplyDeleteBefore I forget... you. Him. Her. All cuties.
ReplyDeleteNow for your cards... absolutely love the purple scrap for Sandie. You nailed it. And rainbows with a snarky sentiment? It doesn't get any better than that.
Guess what Silvo saw in your post? From all the pictures. The motorbike suit. Without scratches. :-) I saw and admire a lot more than that. For the first it is the funny sentiment on the rainbow birthday card. With happy rainbow colors and a lot of numbers this is just a perfect card. Your interpretation of MOVE couldn't be better. Great idea and great card. Mister and Nelli are the perfect couple. :-)
ReplyDeleteStay safe! Hugs, Sonja
Your first card made me laugh so much! :D Such fabulous snarky sentiment on the beautiful design!
ReplyDeleteThe second one is stunning, wow! That running leopard with the Party scrap of stencil looks magnificent, and nothing throw away!
Fab photo of your hubby, I think you are a bit jealous of Nellie, isn't it? ;)
Hugs
You had me laughing and crying all in one blog post, Darnell. Laughing at the Mister ignoring you and loving on Nellie. Crying over the Sandie situation. I had just come from seeing the announcement and leaving her some love. Your party card is perfect in all its purple glory. Don't you love it when Bits and Pieces ;) come together like that. That rainbow birthday card is no slouch either.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the eye candy --- the cards, really I mean the cards. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, what a lot of numbers, Dolly! I'm glad you didn't try to put that many candles on a card! So festive and fun and perfect for any age! Love the poiple party card with that leopard racing to join in! Perfect for Sandie's challenge! Kevin is looking good and so is Nellie! Actually you were looking pretty good yesterday too!
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous birthday cards and great picture of hubby and Nellie!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that your friend Sandie is dealing with health issues. I wish her the very best. Your cards are fab. I love the bright colors on the first one and the story behind the cool purple patterned piece on your second one. I don't think I've ever given the paper used for ink blending my die-cuts a second look. I sure will from now on!
ReplyDeleteLove your rainbow birthday card! And your speeding leopard is perfect for the "move" challenge. But best of all is the photo of the Mister with Nellie = Mr. Tough Motorcycle Guy cuddling fluffy little white dog - love the juxtaposition!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Great cards.
ReplyDeleteNice to see your hubby and Nellie.
Hope you have a fab Friday. Sue
Two gorgeous cards, love the rainbow birthday numbers. Thank you for playing along at CAS Mix UP!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love it when something fabulous comes from nowhere .... how cool does that die cut stenciling look. Love the cheetah too!
Thank you for the photo of the Mister ..... I've been missing the men on bikes with no TT Races again this year. Fingers crossed they'll be back in 2022.
Take care hun xx
Hi Darnell, I don't pop over enough but when i do I always enjoy my visit so much.
ReplyDeleteNo 1 card is fabulous with all those gorgeous colours, bright enough to make anyone feel happy and I just love the snarky comment. I must try to remember that one, it will come in handy for so many of my friends.
No 2 card is so appropriate and what a lot of fun that is with the running leopard - I just know your friend will love it.
Well, always thought you were a good looking gal, and now your guy is here - he's a good looker too.
Hugs, Neet xx
I really like both cards. Especially that stealthy cat moving. I snorted out loud reading about all your binders and caves. Cracks me up. I can just see Mt. NBUS. The Mister looks very handsome. Here's the problem. Nellie runs faster to him. [Bunny]
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful combination of numbers and sentiment on your first card and I love the story behind your second. What a fun way to use scraps!
ReplyDeleteTwo fab cards Darnell hugs Sue x
ReplyDeleteDarnell, fabulously colorful first card, love the sentiment. Your purple movement card is sure to be cherished as well. Getting older sucks...Great photo of the mister and Nellie. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful pair of cards! I love those colorful numbers all over the first card, but the 2nd one just had me grinnin' from ear to ear. Love that big "cat" running for his life! Too cute for words! Too bad for the Time Out challenges ending, but more and more challenges seem to be grinding to a halt these days. I hope your health is also improving as I write this and your pain is diminished. It's good to see the Mr. doing so well as I recall him being down for the count not that long ago either! Take care of yourself and stay well.
ReplyDeleteI have just seen your first card in the CAS mix up gallery against my comment number so I though I would come back and thank you for joining us this month. I love the repetition of the numbers with that embossing folder and your lovely bright rainbow xx
ReplyDeleteThe numbers look fabulous on the first card and I love how you added the colours. I am sorry to hear about your friend, the card you created for her is wonderful and seems so appropriate.
ReplyDeleteGreat pic of the Mister (and Nellie of course!). Take care my friend. Hugs, Annie xxx
Ack, what a great idea for a rainbow card! I love all the color, and the sentiment is perfect with the proliferation of numbers. So much fun! I'm so glad you chose to save the accidental background for your second card because I immediately thought how cool it is. Also noticed right off the half and half sentiment, and you know I always love a critter. I'm delighted when you talk about your NBUS. I can just imagine... even more than mine, but what fun to try and get through it. I can hardly take my eyes off that hunk o' Mister you've got there. Don't tell Rich. The two of you make a knock out couple, and when you add Nellie into the mix, well... the circle of perfection is complete. I sure hope you get into the doctor soon and get your pain-causing problems fixed.
ReplyDeleteAhhh--she looks so happy in his arms! And to think, he said YOU could take the dog, but she wouldn't be his--haha! Absolutely love the rainbow numbers panel & such a creative card for Sandie!
ReplyDeleteAahhh... A Hunk with a soft heart is truly irresistible! Great photo of Mister and Nellie! Now back to your colorful rainbow numbers birthday card...Loved it! So pleased you joined us at CAS Mix Up. Your special card for Sandie is filled with Love and clever creativity. She is going to Love the fast moving cheetah and really cool scrap for the panel and die cut party...a perfect combination that includes what Sandie loves:-) Thank you so much for sharing your fun and awesome postm my friend. ReplyDeleteTwo bright and wonderful cards, and speaking of wonderful....! What a wonderful tribute to Sandie, and a perfect card to carry out your tribute!
ReplyDeleteAnd the Mister? Hope his ride was wonderful; Hubbs and I just returned from a dinner ride ourselves!
Love your bright and happy rainbow numbers, Dolly. Nothing says fun like a rainbow. The sentiment is awesome, I need to get that stamp! :) Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! Lovely tribute card for Sandie. She will be missed at TO. Hammy is good at spotting artistic talent. The paper used for sponging the party die is so cool and makes a great statement on the card! :) Mister looks happy to see his baby after a long ride. Sweet! Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteWow Darnell - brilliant cards! Love the rainbow and 'on the move' is so perfect for Sandie. Clever girl that you are.
ReplyDeleteHowever, needless to say - the real icing on the cake was The Mister and sweet little Nellie. But then you already knew that didn't you.
Hugs
Di xx
Loads of numbers, loads of texture, loads of fabulous rainbow colours and I love your first birthday card. I laughed out loud when I saw your second card Darnell. You are so creative and fun and I bet Sandie will have chuckled too x. Thank you for sharing the photo of the handsome Mister and of course the adorable Nellie x.
ReplyDeleteThese are two really fun cards! I love cards with punny sentiments, like the first one, so perfect. The party animal card is also cool, that leopard has been waiting for a long time for one:) Super cool leftover paper, put to good use!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Love the rainbow number card.
ReplyDeleteYep, definitely dreamy, Darnell ... and so dishy (that's Kevin btw, though Nellie is also a sweetie!)! That numbers card is brilliant ... all those yummy rainbow colours with the touchable background texture are crisp, fresh, vibrant and delicious ... and what a fun sentiment! How about an oversized '24' ... that'd do me for a big number!! Lovely heartfelt words for Sandie ... and a card that will certainly have her smiling. Great use of your purple snippets ... and such a cute, energetic leopard haring across the front! LYAMYHMA ... CWYW! Big hugs and bisous, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteLove both of your cards! And yes, the mister is dreamy and he should hug his bride when he gets home from a ride!
ReplyDeleteTwo great and fun designs Darnell love your bright and happy rainbow card. Thanks for sharing at CAS Mix Up this month.
ReplyDeleteLove the pops of colour against the white background! And that sentiment is hilarious! Thanks so much for celebrating with us at AAA Birthday!
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards, Darnell ! Love how these stencilled numbers pop over the white embossed card ! And that sentiment....OMG, it is so funny ! Thanks so much for sharing and for playing along at ATSM.
ReplyDeleteLove your fun card for us, Darnell! The color scheme is just perfect for Sandies' farewell challenge and I love the way you used the sentiment die. Very clever! Thank you for joining us at Time Out. xx
ReplyDeleteThese are fantabulous cards Darnell, the inking on your number stencil is wonderful... it reminds me of a stencil we were using in Swindon with copious amounts of Brushos!
ReplyDeleteHimself looks terrif in his leathers.
Your cards always bring a smile to my face!
Chrissie xx
What a clever way to use your stencil. The rainbow effect is super fun, as is that great sentiment. Thanks for joining us at Addicted to Stamps and More!
