Hello Stamplings,
How are you? Are you away from your devices now because we are free to move about the country / school is out / summer is almost here? I don't blame you.
However, in this neck of the woods, we went from really beautiful spring weather to burn-your-backside-if-you-sit-on-the-step red hot sizzling summer weather. I'm not ready for it, so I'm inside and back to my old vices, on my devices, which is to say I'm bringing you a coupla cards.
Onefer
I had fun painting these birds. Because we make handmade cards, we can color them howsoever whichway we want to color them. I love that about this hobby.
The birds who are celebrating pride month on my card above are from a NBUS set from Your Next Stamp called "Happy Bird-day." The little musical notes and the sediment are from the same set. The framing dies are from MFT. Every feather has been winked by Hammy and is a schparkly delight.
Challenges
- CAS Mix Up: Viv has chosen Flight. I've stamped, watercolored, and die-cut. And googlie-eyed.
- Day of the Month Card Club: Best Friend Day.
- Pixie's Snippets Playground: Anything snippets goes.
I have this cool Tim Holtz snowman in an e/f and a stamp and today I used the stamp. I heat-embossed my snow gentleman using Tim's Broken China Embossing Glaze. I had a heck of a time trying to get a closeup of the wonderful shine from the glaze:
The "Snowflake Marquee" die is from Memory Box and the sediment is from GKW. Hammy did a great job (his first time) adding a faint grounding shadow and I munched the corners. That is to say, Hammy did offer to munch the corners and I said sure, but thankfully, I turned back around in time to save the card before he had eaten too much. I couldn't get upset because, I mean, he was munching it after all!
Challenges
- Addicted to Stamps and More: Christmas.
- CAS Christmas: Hideko has chosen Snowmen.
- Christmas Craft Creations: Heat embossing.
- Krafty Chicks: Christmas.

It is finally wonderful weather in our part of the world too and outdoor activities are on the schedule. But there is still enough time to visit friends online. :-) I like cheerfully colorful birds on your first card. Best friends are alwys ready to sing a song together. Fantastic card.
ReplyDeleteI like the CAS snowman too. Beautiful patterned stamp of the snowman and perfect design. Hammy really did a great job. Again. :-)
Have a nice day and take care not to get sunburning. :-)
Hugs, Sonja
Just love those colourful birds and I guess the snow gent is cool even if the rest of us are sweltering
ReplyDeleteThey are a pretty and happy quartet and I can hear their singing here. Glad you joined ua at DotMCC. Gundi
ReplyDeleteAWWWW - Hammy was being so helpful... great to see him expanding his considerable skills, and I loved seeing his latest portrait!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Darnell, especially the birdy one - that's super cute!
Stay safe
Blessings
Maxine
So cute. I love it. You are so creative and talented. I enjoy seeing what you come up with. Keep it up. Have a great day filled with blessings. Hugs.

Not quite the same here in the NW of England where I live Darnell. We have had a surge of the Delta variant and out of the top twenty towns with high numbers 19 of them are in the NW. For three weeks my own town was top but now we have gradually reduced to number four thanks to the efforts of the powers that be with the vaccinations.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, enough of that - I just adore that bird card. Those images are so adorable and you are quite right, we can colour any way we want and you have chosen the best colours possible. Great idea to support Pride month with the birdies.
Lovely snowman card too - glad Hammy did not get too far with his munching.
Take care and enjoy the sunshine in moderation.
Hugs, Neet xx
Pretty cards! I am loving your colorful birds!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Marilyn ❤️
Those rainbow birds are gorgeous Darnell and love that each has a shadow which gives them movement and depth and the added musical notes look great, and set against the interesting stitched frame and inset mats, and then your beautiful shiny blue snowman and that pop of red with the large snowflake and inset sentiment..a clever design! x
ReplyDeleteYour first card is beautifully colorful, Darnell. I like your snowman, too. Great picture of Hammy! I have to agree with you regarding the heat. It's like we went from almost very cool and rainy to sunny and sizzling here. It's hard to stay cool and I'm not all that creative when I'm feeling hot and sticky. LOL We use a swamp cooler instead of A/C. Ah well, I'm sure we'll survive, right? Here's to keeping cool, my friend! 'Clink'
ReplyDeleteYour birdie card is so cute Auntie! I love the rainbow of birds lined up singing their song. That is the fun part of card making-the freedom to color and do what we want with our cards! Cool frame die too. Your snowman is awesome, I wish we could see that glaze better too, it sounds so cool! Love the split snowflake with the sentiment in the center, this is a trend that has been very popular now for quite a few years with home décor, cool to see it made it to the cardmaking world! I have seen how hot it is in your neck of the woods. We had a heat wave for a few days, but it left and cool weather came. We are in the 70s for the next two days and in the 50's at night. Once warm pool water is now cold pool water. lol But back in the 80's we go at the end of the week. Crazy weather for sure! Stay cool Auntie, we have been outside a lot. Plenty to do and the pups don't want to be inside, they want to play ball. lol Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteY'all are having Death Valley temperatures. Better roll up the sidewalks early before the rolling black outs start. Love your cute birds and the blue snowman which I thought might be a turkey snowman. Oh well. I read what I read. It's a good thing Hammy didn't go too far with his munching. He's got good self control. Now, stay cool. Literally and figuratively. [Bunny]
ReplyDeleteI'm never ready for such warm weather...here it is over 30 degrees and that's just to much for me... But...making a bloground is something that I can do slowly...so I enjoyed your quarky bird card and still think this is one of the most beautiful snowman stamps... Keep it cool and safe! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards Darnell, the first one is so colorful and beautiful, and the second so striking! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteWow I love this gorgeous card with the wonderful birds on Darnell. I also love the snowman too but the favourite is birds.
ReplyDeleteSue xx

ReplyDeleteIt is so much giggly fun to come to your blog, Darnell. Not only your verbage but those googly eyes and Hammy peeking through the munched hole set me off this morning. I hope you have as much fun writing the post as I do reading it.
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful xoxo
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell,
ReplyDelete2 wonderful creations and such very fabulous designs.
Love how you coloured those birds and the wonderful die cut they are perched on.
Your Christmas snowman is gorgeous and such a very wonderful stamped image and such a great snowflake too.
I love the sentiment in between the snowflake.
Lots of crafty love and hugs from my house to yours.

What a fabulous bird-day card Darnell...full of wonderful colour and the cutest of little birds x. Striking CAS Christmas card with amazing 'munching' from Hammy....Great job x. Don't overdo the computer work Darnell and stay 'cool' x.
ReplyDeleteYour blog post came through as usual...hope it does in July. I too love seeing your cards and love those birdies. Cool here now but more heat coming - gotta make my snowman! Hugs!!

ReplyDeletewonderful Snowman card Darnell, love that frame for you Christmas sentiment- Thanks for joining us at CAS Christmas
ReplyDeleteBTW thanks for the awesome retirement card, feels so good to be able to just relax ♥
Delightful quartet of birdies, Darnell - so fun and colorful!! Your blue snowman looks amazing too and I love the red snowflake with the sentiment running through!!
ReplyDeleteI love your sparkly cards, especially the rainbow birds one. The colors you used on them are awesome--your card could be a flag design in any Pride parade.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, those little birds and even better that they are tweeting for pride month! What could be better than to celebrate diversity! That what makes life interesting. It has been scorching hot here for a few days, than it got almost cold and now its perfect summer weather (it won't last long, soon we'll be suffering in heat and humidity....) so I am going to enjoy it while it lasts! Happy crafting!
ReplyDeleteCame for the birds, stayed for that refreshing snowman. All that watercolor and shimmer on your little flock is a pure delight. The googly eyes are so much fun. Great idea. Ideal for the CAS Mix Up.
ReplyDeleteDuring the last heat wave I would have loved being surrounded by that snowman. He looks happy with his red snowflake. Another good idea to surround the sentiment with it. Smart to keep Hammy from chomping those corners.
I haven't tried the TH Glaze embossing, but bet it's pretty! Love those cute little birds & your great card, Darnell!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, Hope the temps drop to a more pleasant level.
ReplyDeleteCards are fab.
You take care. Sue
We've had lovely weather this week too Dolly!
ReplyDeleteLoving bright googly eyed chirrupy things - so glad you loaded this into the gallery at CAS Mix Up! xx
Hi Darnell, I was thrilled to see that you'd left a comment recently on my blog, thank you. Your cards are beautiful and I especially like the bird one, it looks like a winner to me! I love everything about it. The eyes look great and I love how youve coloured them. The shadows beneath them give a real depth to the card, it's just fabulous x
ReplyDeleteTwo more really great cards, love the colours of your birds, they look so stylish and your snowman munched corners add a little something extra. The blue and red look great too. we have been enjoying/suffering very hot weather (for us) too recently. Things just seem to go from one extreme to the other overnight. We are due thunder storms tonight so the arden is looking forward to the rain xx
ReplyDeleteOh, stop! Your colorful birds are way too cute fluttering around on your card. Those googly eyes make them even more lovable. They are a delight in our CAS Mix Up gallery! I have to say thank you for reminding me about a similar, but much smaller snowman I have and how I could make some cute and easy cards with him. Yours looks fabulous! So sorry about that heat. The temps I'm seeing on the news look miserable!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you are inside and staying cool during the high temps, Dolly. And you're making it the best of the situation by making cards for both CAS Mix Up and CAS Christmas!! Thank you for supporting me, my friend. It means so much. Now to the cards. LOVE those rainbow pride birds. Adorable ... especially with the eyes! :) And you snowman is sweet. I have not tried a lot of the glazes yet (you'll see one from me soon!), and not one on it's own, very cool! Hammy did a great time munching the edges! Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteAs always, you have totally outdone yourself, Darnell! Your little birds are adorable and I love how you colored them! I also love the effects of embossing glaze on your snowman, too...he's perfect with your snowflake marquee, too...such a sweet Christmas card! Thanks so much for playing along with us at CAS Christmas! Stay cool, my friend ~ xx
ReplyDeleteYour colourful bird card its fabulous Darnell...and love you cute snowman
ReplyDeleteAnne
These sweet little birds are adorable and the sentiment is so much fun. Hammy did a great job helping them celebrate Pride month. I love embossing glaze and the shine it brings. Great red snowflake too.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely warm here, a tad too warm to spend time in the garden though :(. Love your colourful birdies, they are so bright, cheery and make me happy!
ReplyDeleteThe snowman is fabulous too and I can just imagine the sparkle on him. Hammy is just adorable!
Big hugs, Annie xxx
So glad you are staying inside Sis- and not melting into a puddle on the step!!! Love your colorful birds with their big wiggly eyes - and your wonderful blue snowflake snowman with the great contrasting big flake! thanks for joining us at CAS Christmas!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a HAPPY birthday card, Darnell! Those colorful birds with big googly eyes are so cute! Love the wonderful design, using panels.
ReplyDeleteThe snow gentleman card is so cool! I can imagine the beautiful shine of the embossing glaze. Love that you framed the sentiment with the red snowflake markquee. Great teamwork with Hammy to make this simple and awesome card!
Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful cards with us at CAS Challenges!
Hideko xx
Oh dear, I wonder how you know about sitting on the step...! What lovely cards today. I like the image of the snowman scratching his head over that red snowflake and I adore those bright, happy, shimmery birds with their googly eyes. That's a very clever background you've created too with those stitched dies. What a cute little photo of Hammy peeking through that aperture! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love those bright, schparkly, rainbow birds perched on those stitched rectangles, Dolly! Looks like they are singing a happy song! Hopefully that icy glazed snowman made you feel a little cooler. I love your way with words and understand about that summer heat!
ReplyDeleteGreat set of cards, Darnell.
ReplyDeleteLove a good rainbow any time of year! Those birds are adorable… and so fun that they are celebrating a birthday with “pride”.
Your snowman looks lovely in blue. I can just imagine how shiny he is IRL. Thank you for joining us at CAS Christmas.
I’m with you about the heat. A heat wave is forecasted for us this coming week and I am NOT looking forward to it. I’m also getting my second vaccine on Monday and I’m not looking forward to that either… heard the side effects are brutal after the 2nd. 😔
Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs. Trina. 💙
Love your colorful birds - some great designing, Darnell. Fun, fun, fun. The snowman card is perfect for the hot weather - makes me feel a bit cooler just looking at it. Fab cards and fun post (as always). Hugz
ReplyDeleteLove both cards but am partial to the first one. Very colorful and spring like. We just had a robin raise a brood of chicks outside our back door for the second time. The first was two years ago.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone at your house is COVID free and healthy.
Love, Hugs and Blessings,
Jim
Haha! Love your "birds of many colors" and their fun eyes! I also loved that Hammy munched you corners, but you saved the say -- by the way, your gentleman wears a "coat of original color!
ReplyDeleteOh My....LOVE your bright and colorful sweet birdies card, Dolly. Such a fun and happy card. Thanks Hammy for all the Winking too. So pleased you joined us at CAS Mix Up. Fun Snowman card too. Always great to add more cards to your Christmas Stash. Stay cool by the AC inside your playhouse. It got up to 79 at our place today...we had 71, 75 twice and then 79 today...that is hot for us, but no complaints, especially with shade and a nice little breeze. I keep thinking of you in your blistering hot weather and now fire season starting up too....Take care...Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteLove them! The birds are gorgeous and such lovely colours.
ReplyDeleteOh I wish for burn my backside kinda weather! winter here and had to wear all the layers, pants, woollen socks, hats, gloves, to netball yesterday. Have you guessed I love the sun not the cold hehe. At least we got outta of our 4th lockdown.
