Hello Stamplings!
To those of you celebrating today, Happy Father's Day! We will be going over to our son's later this afternoon. The twins have jobs for the summer now, but they will end their shifts in time to join us for dinner. I know. I can't believe they are 16 either! I'll try to remember to get a photo.
And speaking of trying to remember, I'm going make an effort to create with my flower images more often. I think I've told you before, I buy a lot of floral stamps, dies, and stencils, and when I pin, bookmark, or file someone's image to CASE later, ninety percent of the time it's a floral card. Yet, slap my biscuit, I rarely reach for flowers when I get an idea for a card; it's usually critters! (Possibly I'm being influenced by a certain hamster?)
So yesterday, I made TWO flower cards! Gome!
Onefer
Not only that, but it's a NBUS set! This sweet set is called Magnolia and it's by Craft Emotions. I'll be using the other beautiful images soon and coloring them in the more traditional pink hues, but it was fun painting this one in blue and yellow. I used my Ziggies and Hammy added just a light touch of winking so the blue and yellow didn't mix to make green. The sediment is from Verve and the frame is Pointed Rectangle Frames by poppystamps.
Challenges
- AAA Birthday: Flowers.
- Less is More: Pale blue and yellow.
- Perfectly CAS: One corner.
- The Flower Challenge: Clean and simple.
Twofer
This was really fun. It is also NBUS, this time by Crafter's Companion for Gemini. The package contains an embossing folder and stencils. You emboss first and then there are two stencils so you can place them over the embossing and color some or all of the dandelions. So there is wonderful texture from the e/f and the stencils make it very easy (although not perfect, lol) to blend color on the puff balls. I used my blending brushes and CP inks.
The sediment is from Tim Holtz's Snarky Small Talk booklet. I don't know how I've missed these, but better late than never. There are dozens of really funny sticker sediments, so prepare yourself for seeing a lot of them since they are right up my sarcastic alley! Especially now that I'm of a certain age where what little filter I used to have is starting to fray away completely. Oh, dear!
Challenges
- Just Us Girls: Color week: orange, poppy red, and hot pink.
- Let's Squash It!!: Nature meets watercoloring.
- Simon Says Stamp Monday: Beautiful blooms.
- Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers: T is for texture.

REMINDER: The June Twofer Card Challenge ends on the 24th, so there is still time to play! The prompt is 🌞SUNSHINE!🌞 so if you're making a sunny summer card, why not make two and join in? I'd love to see you there!

Enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy and keep safe! LITS!*

Fabulous floral cards Darnell - love the dandelions and the snarky (oops fabulous) sediment.
ReplyDeleteGood old Hammy helping out so very carefully with the Winking. Yes, of course you are being influenced by your sweetie Hammy.
Stay safe

I am with you on the flowers-don't do often! But here you have worked wonders. Adore the soft colouring and perfect placement of the sentiment. And a big wow to the second. How bold it looks in these colours and I would never have guessed it was a stencil and EF-have a fab dinner and crafty hugs coming to you xx
ReplyDeleteHappy Father's Day to your husband, Darnell. Hope he has a nice one. Your cards are fabulous, just like you are. The flowers on each card are beautiful! Love the differen colors you chose. I think the sentiment on the second card is fabulous. I never heard the second part of that one. Love it! Enjoy your day, my friend. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty blue magnolia, Dolly! Isn't it fun to take artistic license? I love the idea of a stencil to help color embossing! When I try to color embossing, it's pretty hit and miss with mostly miss! Fun saying too.
ReplyDeleteFantastic cards, the beautifully painted magnolia in soft blue and the WOW effect of the orange, red, hot pink card, I think you did an awesome job with the stencil/ef Did you stencil first and then emboss? or other way around. Thanks for playing along with T is for Texture at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers.
ReplyDeleteWonderful floral cards and just love the second one with those warm colours and the fun impressive sentiment!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderfully coloured magnolia in the pretty blue and yellow tones Darnell and the brightly coloured seed heads with the beautiful embossing look great..love that fun sentiment too. My florals get somewhat neglected too and I have just bought another critter stamp so watch this space..lol. x
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards Darnell! I did not know any embossing folders came with stencils, like this look, what brand? Looking forward to a picture of the boys!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards, Darnell.
ReplyDeleteThose buys are growing up fast! Have a great father's day too.
I can sit and read those snarky sayings and laugh all day long. Two great NBUS cards and I'm happy to see you using your flower stamps. The Gemini card is so fun and colorful and the Magnolia is colored so beautifully. (and winked, of course).
ReplyDeleteAwesome cards. Of course, I am partial to the JUGS card. 😀. Thanks for joining in

Please stop in for a visit!
So that's why I've become so sarcastic...no filter. Well, at least now I know. Have to check out those TH stickers.
ReplyDeleteThe blue and yellow magnolia looks absolutely delicious. Then crossing the spectrum with those vibrant dandelions was awesome. Love the texture from the embossing folder.
I have tons of florals, too, but they often seem to just gather dust (sigh).
Yes, do more floral cards, Darnell, and then send them to The Flower Challenge. I'm glad you sent your beautiful magnolias there. If only dandelions came in those bright colors. Thanks for sharing that one with us at Just Us Girls.
ReplyDeleteBoth completely different, one beautifully elegant with a beautiful colour mix and the other vibrant and gorgeous with a fun sentiment. Could I choose a favourite? Nope, both marvellous Darnell.
ReplyDeleteFaith x
Two fantastic cards Darnell, I can see why you love those sayings :)
ReplyDeleteYour embossing folder/stencil card is a stunner, I might just have to look those up ♥
Two gorgeous cards. I love that idea of e/f and stencil combo. Your dandies really pop off the card. Looking forward to more of those snarky sentiments.
ReplyDeleteFantastic cards Darnell love the colours you have used on both of them take care and hugs Sue x
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are wonderful and I do love flowers. It seems most of the time I reach for floral cards too! I need to break away and do more designs with other topics. But old habits are hard to break!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, gorgeous makes, Darnell! That beautiful dandelion card would also fit in over at Let's Squash It! Thanks for joining the fun at SoSS, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI find myself in the same boat...love the flowers and yet haven't made as many flower cards as I used to and not hammy to put out undue influence here.
ReplyDeleteOn to your lovely cards...the watercolor is sweet and so pretty. Love the snark on your die cut blooms card.
They have jobs??!! Oh stop, that's just not possible!! Marvelous cards, Darnell and that last sentiment has me looking forward to more!
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes, the twins are 16 now?!!! Wow, times flies by doesn't it?! Yes, would so love to see an updated photo of them. I bet they are super handsome fella's! I have tons of flowers stamps too and need to use them more as well Auntie. I love your magnolia card, the blue and yellow is so pretty. I love to pick magnolia's from my aunt's tree if I'm down when it is blooming. Love those flowers and love the smell of a gardenia. Can't wait to see more of this stamp set. Love the "loud" colors of the dandelion card, it is fun! That is so cool the way it comes with stencils to lay over so you can color them. How fun is that?! But it is the sentiment that has me cracking up. Yep, I hear what you are saying, I am finding I don't have as good of a filter as I once did. Oh my! Can't wait to see more of these sentiment stickers, they are a hoot! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteMe too, Darnell - tons of flower stamps but not enough flower cards coming out of my craft room. You've guilted me out and I'm going to go upstairs and make a flower card right now!!! Love your two cards - so different but equally beautiful. The magnolia is my favourite - love that colour combination!
ReplyDeleteI love your flower cards, especially that second one. Its bright happy colors gave me a lift on a rainy day (but thank goodness for a little rain!). I have lots of floral stamps, but barely use them. I'm always reaching for my flower dies instead. I really need to focus on those stamps a little more.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful set of floral cards. The simplicity of the first allows those magnolias to shine. And no surprise, I love the unconventional colours. Your second card is striking and vibrant. I’ve never seen an EF/stencil combo… so cool and you did a great job stencilling.
ReplyDeleteI love flowers and have a lot of them, too, but like you, I seem to reach for critters more often when I can just play for fun.
Hope you enjoyed your day with the family today. I’m not going to lie, it was a tough day for me, but I’m okay all things considered.
Have a wonderful week.
Hugs, Trina.
Two absolutely amazing cards love the vibrant colour on the 2nd card so striking as is the set used love the simplicity of the 1st card so adorable is the image enjoy your day xx

Your second card is so bright and bold ... with beautiful summer colours! What a great idea to sell an ef with matching stencil. Hopefully more will come like that!! :) The sentiment is so YOU! :) Thanks for starting my day with a smile! Love, Lolly

Beautiful! Love your colours. Thanks for playing at AAA Birthday, hope to see you join in with future challenges too. Stay safe and keep crafting!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards Darnell, lovely designs and bright colours too, Kate x
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about using your floral stamps as I am exactly the same. Both your cards are great. I love the simplicity of the first with wonderful colouring, the touch of yellow really makes the flower pop and the way you have placed the sentiment is brilliant. The colours and dimension on the second card are pretty special and I love the contrast from that amazing sentiment (even if I am not exactly sure what it means!) xx
ReplyDeleteUh oh, I think I'm going to have to go check out that Tim Holtz Snarky Small Talk booklet...for obvious reasons. Love the contrast between those gorgeous flowers and the unexpected sentiment!!
ReplyDeleteI am with you on the flowers. I use them often but my stamping goes in spurts, and I go in and out of styles too.Love your cards! The simplicity of the first caught my eye. The snarky sentiment and bright colors of the second card are so fun!
ReplyDeleteWow Darnell two brilliant cards I just love them. Both CAS in different ways and perfect. That second, what a brilliant embossing folder and stencil combo and as for the sentiments. I am off to find those, I too have reached an age that no longer filters these things and I do so love quick wit (sarcasm to other maybe) Thank you so much for joining us at The Flower Challenge and we hope to see you there again soon. Aileen DesignTeam
ReplyDeleteLove the blue on the magnolia card - beautiful! The second card is a glorious pop of colour, I love it! Fab sentiment too - soooo funny! Hope your Father's day out was fab - 16, the twins are all grown up! I am off to the hairdressers today, first time since March last year! Just a trim though, I like my longer hair. Still scary going out though. Take care my friend. Hugs xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous cards, but I have to say WOW to the second one! Hard to beat a card that combines beauty with snark. (I wish the ef I used this week had a matching stencil for colouring, sigh.) Thanks for joining the fun at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!
ReplyDeleteI was checking out the cards on the current NBUS Challenge and the dandelion card really caught my eye-maybe because of the bright colors or the CAS design. Your cards are always so visually appealing.
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards as always Darnell! I’ve got my DT hat on for my final month so thank you for joining us at Perfectly Cas.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful duo of floral cards. I love so much these bold and colorful dandelions paired with the white on black sentiment. Thanks so much for joining us at Just Us Girls.
ReplyDeleteOh they are both fabulous!! The sentiment on your second card made me laugh as did the funny below... Hope all is well with you my friend... Sending hugs
ReplyDeleteYour cards are equally beautiful! I love how the second one was created and love that sentiment! Thanks for playing with Just Us Girls!
ReplyDeleteThose floral cards are both great! I especially love the snarky sentiment on the 2nd one - my filter needs a filter of it's own lately too LOL Hopefully you all enjoyed a nice father's day together and I do hope you're feeling well these days too! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteTwo equally fabulous cards, Darnell! That second card perfectly combines all the pretty with all the snark! Thanks for joining the fun at the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!
ReplyDeleteOh, I so love the dandelion card and how you played with colors in ombré style. Fun sentiment too.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, love the colours and textures (and of course the sentiment!) of the second card!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting textured with Edna and the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers!!
Love your flower cards. Thanks for showing your texture with the Sisterhood.
ReplyDeleteFlowers and critters are my favorites! Your Magnolia bloom looks like uncut crystals. So beautiful! Who needs traditional colors? I was immediately smitten with your second card. I could see the texture from the embossing right away, and the colors are fabulous! Lots of challenges. I don't know how you keep up.
ReplyDeleteWhat two great cards! I love the futuristic look of your magnolia in such unusual colors. But I have to admit that they look really special. And the second card is brilliant. I was amused by the inscription, because I saw these dandelions as a few monkeys in very slow motion, hahaha. I love this technique, stamping and dyeing. Epic!
ReplyDeletexx
Such a stunning card! The CAS design is perfect and those flowers are gorgeous. Thanks so much for playing at AAA Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI thought I'd been here and seen these beauties, and I have. But beauty deserves recognition so I just have to say again that I really really love that beautiful bright dandelion card. So fresh and hot. Thanks for joining the fun at Let's Squash It! Hugz
ReplyDeleteYour dandelion card is just super! the colors and the funny sentiment. Made me smile.
ReplyDeleteLove seeing your floral cards, Darnell! Sorry I'm so late--just not doing well reading blogs these days. Anyway--I can't believe there are stencils to use for coloring embossing folders & I NEED them! Really love the dandelions here!
