Hello Stamplings,
I hope this finds you doing well and you aren't being blown away by the wind. I'm a very fortunate lady to have friends all around the world and talking about the fierceness of the wind is one thing (besides crafting) that has been consistent in our correspondence the last few years. Batten down your hatches! And if you don't have a hatch, have a drinkie-poo!
I had to jump in and play with Ina's Trend Week challenge at Just Us Girls where she wants us to use foil on our alcohol ink panels. Here's a portion of the panel Hammy and I created.
I decided to make an Easter card for those of you who celebrate, so I used a PTI oval to cut eggs from the panel to use on my card:
Very simples. The grass is a die from Poppystamps cut in three different colors for some dementia. Also playing in:
Pixie's Snippets Playground: A/G, but must use snippets, which I did for pieces of Yupo and grass.
Poppystamps: Add texture.
Twofer
I made this simples card a while back using some of that gorgeous gold-outlined pp pad that I received from a dear friend. I was chuffed to find a piece of colored card that matched the beautiful shade of green in the pattern. The beautiful font sediment die is also from Poppystamps.

Then This Happened
A botched visit to a plastic surgeon for lip fillers? Haha, no, thank you! This young woman is unnamed in an article I found on the interwebs about angioedema. I wanted you to see what the lips did and not be distracted by all the age spots and winkles I have. But my lips do look like that. I woke up that way this morning. Spider bite maybe? I hadn't eaten anything out of the ordinary.
I took a couple of Benadryl, but my upper lip did not diminish in size so we headed to the emergency room at noon. The doctor recognized it as a symptom of an Ace Inhibitor type of medication I take for heart disease and he took me off it immediately. Then he gave me a cocktail in my arm (what's the fun in that?) of all magical things that would make my lips return to normal size. Five hours later and nothing had happened so he sent me home.
Hopefully, it will just take another coupla days to get better and it won't get worse in terms of my tongue and throat swelling, too, which can happen. We don't want that. That would be very bad.
Gee, so far 2022 has blanked the blank and blank. But it will get better! It always does! Hold on and Happy Easter!
Mwah!

I do hope your cocktail kicks in soon and if not have a real one if permitted of course,.Firstly congratulations on being showcased at LIM for your fabulous pink and gold card. Love the AI eggs very creative and such beautiful colours the die cut border in white makes the eggs even more vibrant. As for the second, the dementia really makes the beautiful blooms pop such a gorgeous card.
ReplyDeleteMarie
oops meant to say the green against the white background makes the eggs pop well hopefully not pop as in explode but you get what I mean.
ReplyDeleteMarie
Love the marbled Easter eggs Darnell.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have been in the wars, hope that the oedema settles down soon. :)
Those Easter eggs look so pretty with the alcohol inks and foiling and a real stunner of a card Darnell. I love the paper and that shade of green on your beautiful thank you card....so pretty x.
ReplyDeleteYou have been having a time of it Darnell and I hope the swelling reduces quickly. It must have given you a shock? Sending tons of love, hugs and positive vibes across the ocean x.
Oh Darnell! Your cards are beautiful! That panel you created is gorgeous. I love how it looks cut into egg shapes. Wow! The second card is lovely, too. You sure find some pretty things. I am so sorry you are dealing with side effects from your medication. I truly hope you recover quickly. If it's not one thing, it's another these days, right? I hope your recovery is going smoothly, though. Gentle hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteYou're really having a time of it, Darnell - yikes! Well, you got two beautiful cards made before "it" happened. Just love the AI eggs - must try it sometime; they look amazing! And what gorgeous dp on your twofer, matched to perfection! Happy healing!!

ReplyDeleteBoth your cards turned out wonderful! That second card is very elegant. Thanks for joining in and just us girls challenge.
ReplyDeletePs total bummer about your lip. Those allergies can be scary stuff! Hope you’re doing better.
Beautiful cards Darnell. My gosh, what a thing to have to go through. It has been the pits of a start for you this year. Big hugs and good thoughts that all gets VERY much better.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you are having side effects like that, no fun and right before Easter. Your cards are gorgeous, I especially like the Easter eggs!
ReplyDelete2022 has kinda whipped your tail, hasn't it Darnell?!! Gosh I'm sorry to hear about the ER visit and swollen lips and will definitely keep you in my prayers for a quick healing!! I'm glad you can still keep your sense of humor though, and stamp at the same time too! Your Easter card with the AI is FABULOUS! Seriously, that paper you and Hammy worked on is just perfect for colorful Easter eggs...LOVE it! And your 2nd card is just as beautiful...so soft and pretty! Take care of yourself my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I've seen you look better! I don't think this is a good look for you. I hope the lips go back to normal with no other side effects. I'm more worried about what you will be doing about not having the heart medicine. I'm glad you were able to make this stunning Easter egg card. Those eggs are beautiful, I can attest to that second card being gorgeous. The paper is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGood grief girl! This has been quite a year for you, hasn't it? If I were you, I'd ask for a Mulligan. At least, your cards are looking fabulous...those eggs are something I'd like in my basket. Lucky to find the ideal cardstock for that gorgeous paper...makes the card awesome. Hope the doctor's doings solve your fat lip. I'm sending healing thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHow awful for you to have your lip swell up like this Darnell, and I just hope that the cocktail of goodies they gave you will soon take effect. I love your pretty AI piece made into these wonderful eggs hidden amongst the die cut grass, and then the beautiful gold outlined paper on the second, and a perfectly matched piece of card to go with it, and the white 'thanks' has such a stylish font too. x
ReplyDeleteOMGosh Darnell, how frightening for you, you must have a a great shock to wake up and find this. I hope the swelling reduced soon and that you have no other problems.
ReplyDeleteI love your gorgeous card, beautifully designed and the colours are beautiful, I especially love the one with the eggs. Sending BIG HUGS, Kate x
Oh, my word, Darnell! First I was dumbfounded by your beautiful AI with gold Easter eggs, then the utterly gorgeous DP with perfectly matched cardstock, but THEN your story about your medication reaction! What a time you've had! I hope you will be safe and get over this, and have new meds for your heart condition. xx
ReplyDeleteOh dear Darnell you really are having a bad time at the moment. Do hope your mouth returns to normal soon, it must be so uncomfortable. Two great cards, love the eggs, but I really really love the second one! xx
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Darnell - it's just one thing after another for you!! I'm sorry. I sure hope you are doing better today!! Your cards are beautiful and awesome!!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, wow your cards are as always amazing l love Easter cards and at one time used to make them but not all celebrate Easter with cards l certainly do and try to encourage my family and friend to do so l hope your much better sending lots of hugs 🤗 xx

ReplyDeleteLate husband l should add xx
ReplyDeleteYour eggs look beautiful; rich and warm! The second card is beautifuk too; love the soft colours!
ReplyDeleteHope your lip will be okay soon! Such strange things that you can get from taking medicine for something else that is needing that medicine! (Sometimes I see the thing why you are taking the medicine for as apossible side-effect? how strange... Hugs, Gerrina
I was so happy to see those fancy eggs of yours in our gallery, Darnell! Also happy to find your pretty twofer when I popped in here! So sorry about your allergic reaction, sounds scary. Prayers for a speedy recovery XO
ReplyDeleteit was great to catch up today on zoom, great face lift with the collagen implants :) hopefully things will settle soon.
ReplyDeleteLove your AI eggs and your gorgeous gold outline flowers ♥
Your cards today are first-rate! Love those eggs--the colors, the gold accents, all nestled in luscious green grass. Super cool card. I love the gentle colors of the second card, too. I tend to use strong colors, so pastel cards are often just a relief for me to look at. Not sure why I can't create more with pastels myself. That lip issue looks very uncomfortable. I hope by the time you read this, that you are well on your way to normal-sized lips. Take care, take it easy and enjoy the holiday weekend.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all Darnell I hope by the time you read this your lip is back to normal and feeling soooooooooo much better.
ReplyDeleteNow if I got Easter Eggs with such beautiful foil paper I would be so scared not to tear the tiniest bit - I would have to eat the chocolate wouldn't I??? Simply gorgeous and big (lots of chocolate inside) and what lovely shades of green grass that they are peaking above. Lovely gold die cut sentiment and card base. Thanks a million for sharing with us at JUGS this week.
Hi Darnell, Loving the cards, especially the Thanks one.
ReplyDeleteHope your lip soon eases.
Hope you have a nice day. Sue
Hi Darnell
ReplyDeleteI'm a coupla days later after you posted this so I'm REALLY hoping your face swelling has gone down and you're back to normal again now.
You've made two gorgeous cards here. They are both beautiful in their own ways.
Thanks for submitting your homework to the Snippets Playground! Meet me and Di in the Treehouse later for lots of fun and a few wodka cocktails. It looks like you need them to cope with the year so far! xxx
HOPPY EASTER.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
Oh My Goodness, what a terrible thing to happen to you. That must have been a wee bit scary to say the least. I hope that by now you arke back to normal size and feel happier.
ReplyDeleteYour cards though are gorgeous. How fortunate was that to find the same shade of green as in the paper yu used. It made for a lovely card.
As for the AI one, I love that technique you used, I must have a try at that because the effect is gorgeous, and what a lovely idea to use the card for making Easter eggs and popping them in the grass for someone to find.
Take care, Hugs, Neet xx
Yikes, take it easy, sweetie. The cards are beautiful xoxo
ReplyDeleteFabulous both the cards Darnell, absolutely love your alcohol ink eggs with the gold threads and the floral card is soooo elegant!
ReplyDeleteSorry for your lips, but luckily they are normal again now!!

ReplyDeleteOMG - I do hope the swelling has gone down and your lips returned to normal. How scary!
ReplyDeleteLove the Easter card. The eggs are genius! The other card is lovely as well.
IT is a windy day in Michigan today. In fact we have a high wind warning. Steady winds of 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. It really pushed me on my walk:)
Have a lovely Easter weekend.
My wonderfully sarcastic mom would say 'gee, what does the other guy look like?'
ReplyDeleteDarnell I'm joining the rest in wishing you well and that all this will be better very soon!
=]
Oh my! You have a had a rough start to 2022. I hope things are much improved.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are gorgeous! The PTI inked eggs look like Faberge. So beautiful.
Chin up and rest up!!!
Your cards are both beautiful, I love them both and can't decide which is my favourite so they both must be. Marie, my sister said you're talented and hilarious and she's absolutely right. Love your way with words. Hope the lip is recovered, take it easy xx
ReplyDeleteI hope your lip has gone down to normal and the rash is gone today. Wow, what a journey to have that hip replaced! Glad your creativity hasn't suffered! What a gorgeous piece of foiled alcohol ink! Love the colors and the beautiful Easter eggs! The patterned paper is beautiful and made an awesome card! Extra special that it was simple to do!
ReplyDeleteTwo magnificent cards, Darnell! Do hope that
ReplyDeletenew look improves over the next day or two!
Assume the Doc gave you some new medication!!!
Happy Easter!
Oh my goodness, Darnell. Those lips look terrible. I hope they don't hurt and that the swelling goes down soon. I'm glad the doctor realized what was wrong.
ReplyDeleteI love your fancy Easter eggs. So beautiful all done up in alcohol ink with foil threads. Thanks for sharing them with us at Just Us Girls.
Oh Wow, sure hope your lip gets better. Glad you went to ER and the doctor determined it was from your medication. Prayers for quick healing.
ReplyDeleteLove your beautiful Easter card with those colorful eggs. The other card is lovely also. Take care. Happy Easter to you. ((Hugs))
Sure hope your lip is better by now!! Love your cards! On the first one, I love those beautiful Easter eggs made with your gorgeous AI with foil piece. And the paper on the second one is stunning. Well done, despite your swollen lip!
ReplyDeleteOh Darnell, you lip looks so uncomfortable - so glad the cause was recognised and it was treated, albeit with not much success initially.
ReplyDeleteLove your collaboration with Hammy with the foil on the A.I. - was he a wee bit tiddly, on the fumes of course, and wander around the background with gold on his feet, by any chance?
The cards are both jaw droppingly gor-jus!
Blessings
Maxine
Hi Darnell, I've been thinking about you a lot over the past month and am so glad to see you pop up again in my emails. I am happy to see you are back to crafting but so sorry about your lip. I really hope it returns to normal soon. What a lot of worry for you. As you say, what a year so far. It can only get better - there has to be hope for that doesn't there! Sending you big hugs and lots of well wishes for your complete return to normality xx
ReplyDeleteHello my dear friend, love, love the foil card, no idea how to do this but love the look. And what gorgeous paper, I still have the card you sent me with the lovely paper you can stamp on, on my coffee table! Oh and goodness what am awful time you had…goodness life throws so much at us…..and I am with you on the medication side, we must catch up soon, just a bit of suffering going on here too, but let’s hug each other for strength xxxxx
ReplyDeleteI have to comment on your cards first, seeing as they were first in your post! I LOVE the alcohol ink eggs, with the added grass detail, they look so scrumptious and beautiful. Your paper certainly matches the beautiful paper, another gorgeous card. Now - the lips! All I can say is OUCH! then you add it could have been a spider bite? Oh! my goodness, how awful, luckily or not at least your Dr recognised what caused it and was able to give you a cocktail for it. I wish my Dr gave out cocktails! Seriously, I really hope the jab has returned you to your beautiful self? What a start of the year for so many people, not as good as we hoped sadly.
ReplyDeleteGet well soon
Faith x
Oh my, poor you. That must be so uncomfortable, it looks like and allergic reaction, which can be worrying. Hope it goes down soon. Love both your simples card and that amazing alcohol ink panel, must get mine out for a play, love it xx
ReplyDeleteDarnell, what a scary and awful reaction!! I hope you are better now!!! Good thing you went in to be seen!
ReplyDeleteYour card is amazing! I love your "marbled" and foiled eggs in the pretty grass with the gold sentiment. It all goes together so well and ended up in a really pretty card! Thanks for deciding to share this beauty with us at Just Us Girls Challenge.
Gorgeous AI and foiled panel, Dolly. And what beautiful eggs the panel made. Sweet Easter card. And a lovely card using gorgeous patterened paper.
ReplyDeleteSorry about your swollen lips. Know that you are doing better makes me happy. Take care, my friend. Love, Lolly
Oh Darnell! I know how you are feeling… when it pours, it’s a torrential downpour. Hope you are feeling better and back to normal. Big hugs.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are beautiful. I especially love those gorgeous eggs.
Have a wonderful Easter.
Oh my word girl you are having a time. Hope you’re doing better by now.
ReplyDeleteLove love the cards. Lots o’hugs, Nan and the Girls
And then I forgot….Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteMwah
Oh goodness, the winds have been bad all over the world, always very windy here, but this year they seem extra bad. I swear I thought Savannah, myself and the house were going to blow away. We definitely had to batten down our hatches. lol Wow, that background you and Hammy made is gorgeous! I love all the colors and the foiling in places. I also love your Easter card, the eggs are so beautiful cut from the background you and Hammy made. I love that it is so simple too. Your second card is beautiful as well, love those soft colors and that beautiful pattern paper. The card matches the paper perfectly! Oh my....those poor lips....as soon as I saw them, I thought an allergic reaction to meds. Sorry it happened to you Auntie and I hope by now (since I'm so late getting here!) that your lips are back to normal and you had a wonderful Easter! Life sure has it's struggles doesn't it?! Here's to better months ahead! Love and hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love, your beautiful AI eggs Sis - and your 2nd card is gorgeous as well! SO sorry about your big lip - I hope it is long gone by now - how very scary - the body is awesome until it goes loopy on us.... - keeping you in thoughts and prayer !!! xx
ReplyDeleteMost beautiful Easter Eggs E.V.E.R!!! The second cards is also very beautiful - great match of papers! How scary to wake with your mouth like that! I hope it has now gone back to normal and hope you had an enjoyable Easter. Hugs x
ReplyDeleteDarnell, those two cards you made are both so eye catching. Love the alcohol ink eggs and then that second card, just love those colours together. Such a stunning creation.
ReplyDeleteThen you go and do that to yourself. My son woke up one day looking like that and it turned out for him it was an allergy to a cough mixture he has self medicated himself with. Here we are waiting for the third attempt at getting married for my son Aaron to Rachael and I am battling the flu so I too can go. Another amazing year rolls round xx hugs Aileen
Wonderful cards Darnell! Sheesh - I hope the swelling has gone down by now!
ReplyDeleteYup, I do owe you an email - all is fine here - just a bit busy with various things.
Hugs
Di xx
Your cards are swell, and your lip swelled! Yikes! While your cards are fun and gorgeous (love that gold!), I sure do hope that you're improving and things/lips are back to normal -- goodness, what a day.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Darnell! Yikes with the angioedema. That stuff is nothing to mess with. My sister in law suffers from it. Glad you went to the ER to get checked out.
ReplyDeleteWow both so beautiful!! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHola! Love both cards!!! so elegant and beautiful!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Darnell, I've been so distracted this month... I do love to visit my fav card makers and see their wonderful and inspiring cards, so I'm on a bender today to right that.... and I see you've had a reaction, so I'm hoping by now you are all recovered. Now back to cards...these two are wonderful... love that AI/foil piece you cut you Easter eggs from, that looks fantastic.. and wow that is some really nice PP and gorgeous to use for a card with a simple die cut sentiment.. way to go.. hugs Robyn
ReplyDeleteblank blank is one way to put it! You are having a rough year - and it must get better. Hope your lip is now returned to normal and you have not suffered any other ailments.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a fabulous Easter. Those eggs are absolutely gorgeous. And what a find to have the same coloured card! love it when that happens ;)
EWWW - blotched lip filler not pretty - and to think she paid for it. Yours was unfortunate. Medications can be really tricky sometimes, thank heaven a good ER doc recognized it as a side effect.
ReplyDeleteYour foiled/alcohol cards are beautiful. The eggs are so pretty. Take care and hope all is back to normal.
Oh gosh! What a day! I am so glad the ER doctor recognized the problem and that you got treatment immediately. Not fun! But you still made me smile with your positive attitude and gorgeous cards!
ReplyDelete
