Hello Stamplings!
Happy October! Wait. What? It's not the 1st? Whoosh Whoosh . . ..
We are enjoying cooler days, sprinkled with occasional hot flashes, but, hey, that's Mother Nature in the fall! And speaking of fall, I beleaf I have a few cards to show you, so off we go!
Onefer
This card looks delish, doesn't it? Like the leaves are made from flavors of gelato! It was sure fun to put together. It started with Hammy and I tossing around innovative ideas for putting leaves on cards. He was the first to remember I recently purchased the NBUS Pretty Pot Die from The Greetery, so I used that, die-cutting it from a snippet of glossy packaging I had saved.
Then, before I got out various items of crafty Prairie Fanalia to make some leaves, I took a look at BOB ~ my ooofanism for Box of Bits. I found a few glossy paper ink-blended backgrounds I'd made long ago which I thought would make fun leaves.
The leaves are from Impression Obsession. The sediment is unmarked, but looks like it might be from MFT. The pointed border from poppystamps was cut from pp which looked like a piece of rusted corrugated metal. Hammy was exuberant with his schplatters!

So what happened was, I saw the Leaf Fragments die from Tim Holtz and Sizzix on my friend Brenda's blog and then on my friend Jules's blog and I had to get it. I don't know what rock I was under when it came out two years ago, but somehow I missed it or I've forgotten that I've seen it before.😏
As you can see from the picture below, I became addicted to die-cutting leaves from various snippets of pp as fast as Hammy could fling papers from the pp drawers!
Above the above photo are three of the cards I made and below are the rest of them ~ 29 in all. For the card bases, I took the occasion to use many sheets of wonderful textured paper I've had since the last century.
I'm not showing you all of them individually because a) you'd be over-stimulated and you know how you get when you get over-stimulated, or b), conversely, you'd fall asleep in your chair. (Not to mention ~ you might be getting one of them in the mail!)
Challenges
- Addicted to CAS: Autumn.
- Just Us Girls: Scraps.
- Snippets Playground: Loads of patterned paper (pp) snippets used for leaves.
Shrinkflation ~ Attention Grandmothers
Finally I leaf you with this latest outrageous case of shrinkflation:
I don't know about you, but as a grandmother, I'm never without Werther's for myself my grandtwins. And now this happened. Four ounces fewer caramelly, buttery, creamy candies for the exact same price. (But watch, next week the price will go up.) Grrrrr! It's truly devious.
~~~
In spite of that, do enjoy your day! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse, being a follower, and leafing me some love!
WOW you and Hammy have had a ball with these fabulous leaves - never mind his splattering of the first wonderful card - I am sorely temped by that leaf fragments die too....
ReplyDeleteBlessings
LOVE your basket of flowers. What a great way to use up bits of coloured paper you've been saving. It's a lovely mix of colours and creates a beautiful fall card, Dolly. And then the leaf cards ... WOW! Fabulous leaves, I can see why you had to get them. And look at the pile of cards you made. So fun! Shame on Werthers ... I know lots of companies do that. They thnk that we don't notice, but we do! Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteWell you seem to have covered Autumn with your leafy cards - particularly like the look of the TH holey style leaves. Reckon I must have missed that release too. Many products here seem to come in reduced quantities each time I shop 🙄 which I suspect will be followed at a suitable interval by a price increase once we are accustomed to the size reduction.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I 'prompted' you to buy that die set Darnell, you've certainly had fun creating your own fall in the playhouse! I don't know why I didn't get them out earlier. I also have another set of leaf dies that I got at the same time and they are still to be put to good use, though I have dipped my toe by cutting an odd one or two out.
ReplyDeleteGreat use of your leftover panels and BoB, love that, for your stunning array of fall cards, our hedgerows are slowly turning colour now too. :)
What a fantastic collection you've made Darnell, you have also reminded me that I have these dies somewhere (on my very messy desk I think). I really must have a tidy up and find them for a play.
ReplyDeleteSue xx
Fabulous cards Darnell - you have been so busy. I'm on a mission to use lots of my older stuff too.
ReplyDeleteI love Werther'! Several years ago I worked as a domestic in a care home and one of the ladies always used to give me a Werther's when I'd finished cleaning her room. Bless her!
Pretty cards! Love the colors of your leaves. I hate going in stores these days and seeing what everything is costing us.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Marilyn ❤️
Unbeleafingly beautiful cards, Darnell! Love how you used the backgrounds to make the cards and you were able to create so many! That's wonderful. Oh the tactics of packaging to mess with our heads! It's so annoying! But those are some yummy candies, aren't they? I hope you have a good day my friend!
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing collection of cards! LOVE that pot filled with leaves, and the collection of cards with the Tim Holtz leaves are gorgeous--how lucky to have all those snippets around. I think I ought to just spend an afternoon making background so I'll have things like this to play with. Must be so satisfying!
ReplyDeleteWhat a treat to see all these beautiful leaves and not have to rake, Dolly! You and Hammy have outdone yourself!
ReplyDeleteHoly smokes, you certainly have had a ball with your leaf cards, ALL so beautifully fun!! The hubby and I have been sucking down the werthers ourselves but the soft caramel apple limited addition ones!! Thank you for joining our challenge at Four Seasons!! We have a NEW challenge that is all about stencils, take a peek at it!!
They are all gorgeous, Darnell xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love it so much that I inspired You. That makes me feel so good. I clicked on Jules link to see what she did and got my own blog. Your cards are beautiful and I'm sure every single one is gorgeous too. The pot die is great with all those soft colored leaves arranged in it. Say "hi" to Hammy for remembering that you bought that.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea to put the leaves in a pot! Looks great just as the rest of the leaf cards!! Prices go up for all the food here... weekly shopping means bringing a bigger bag with money... It is a pitty that the wages don't follow... Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeleteOh noooooo! I totally LOVE those Sizzix leaf dies and might have to source them!
ReplyDeleteTruly wonderful Fall cards.
Thanks for coming to play in the Snippets playground and submitting such leafy homework! I've a batch of hot chocolate just made, so come on up to the Treehouse . . . and bring something illicit in your satchel to add to the drink! xxx
Loving all the leaf cards! The shrinkflation was first noticed by me in tuna cans. They used to be routinely 8 oz on the individual ones when I was a child who only ate tuna sandwiches. Now they are 5oz cans with three times the price. And yes it is still my favorite sandwich at home.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you and Hammy have been busy! Don't you just love it when you can use up things in your stash for beautiful cards like yours!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card with that gorgeous pot full of colourful leaves, it's great having those blended papers at hand to diecut!
ReplyDeleteLovely TH die set, and surely you take it to a busy use with all those cards, wow, 29 are really so much!!
The caramel candies looks very yummy, I think you should stock up before they increase :)
Here in Italy prices are going up and up. It's worrying.
Hugs
Gorgeous cards Darnell. I love how you got all of those snippets used up.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you found that paper, Darnell, because those are some gorgeous leaves. Your ink blending is marvelous. Speaking of leaves, I did see Julie's card and fell in love with them. I can't imagine making 29 of them though. And the textured cardstock. It wouldn't be from Core'dinations would it? I have two partially used packs and one unopened one that I've had since I started cardmaking umpteen years ago.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful leaf-filled pot, Darnell - gorgeous fall colors!! And those leafy fragments look amazing - wow, 29 of them - you have been busy!! Well done for keeping up with the shrinkflation examples - I guess I'm oblivious & buy without even noticing. Although I do have a ton of recipes that use canned goods with ounce-age that doesn't exist anymore...
ReplyDeleteWOW, you HAVE been busy, Darnell! I love your pot of leaves and your other colourful leaf cards are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAs for the bags of Werther's, I think the same thing is happening here in the UK. But what is worse is the chocolate bars are shrinking! xx
Holy moly, that's a LOT of leaves Darnell! AND a LOT of cards!! You really have been a busy beaver and they're all GORGEOUS!! I love your bouquet one with the pretty colored leaves...that definitely looks like it was fun to make!! I can also see why you had to have the TH leaf die, and I must have been under the same rock because I've never seen it before either! It sure does makes lovely leaves with all your dsp though, and what a great way to use up dsp that's been sitting around (or don't you hoard like I do??!!)! Anyway, great cards and bummer about the Werther's, but that's the world we live in now! Take care my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteThis past week, the tree-lined streets of Minneapolis have been aglow with gorgeous leaves in yellow, gold, orange and red. I really do gape in wonder at the beauty as I'm driving. Thankfully, I haven't run down any pedestrians while doing that!! Your cards today were beautiful and a great reminder to appreciate the beauty around me.
ReplyDeleteGosh Darnell as always your cards are beautiful you have been busy 29 fabulous cards Autumn colours and leaves cut out and set perfectly on your cards, ooh l do like a wertger’s leave l lovely taste in the mouth fir sometime after sucking or chewing on them great choice of sweets too enjoy your day xx
ReplyDeleteWOW! You have been busy. I love all your autumnal leaves, the colours are beautiful, and I do like that TH die!
ReplyDeleteWe've had a blustery few days here and all the leaves are starting to fall .... Autumn is definitely here xx
I was so disappointed you didn't share all of your cards with us as I could do with a little over-stimulation but never mind there were, after all, a treasure trove of beauties, and thank you so much for sharing one of them with us at ATCAS. The leaf punch is amazing and with the bits from your bob you have created such individual cards. Thank you so much for my lovely card which arrived today you really did cheer me up no end.
ReplyDeleteMarie
Your Autumn leaf cards are lovely Darnell and such gorgeous colours...I think the Autum colours are stunning and so inspirational when colouring....
ReplyDeleteYep its the same here shrinking packages but rising prices...Our chocolate bars used to be twice as thick as they are now...I won't pay the inflated prices...the grandchilren always have some treats in the cupboards even though they are older!
Well, you have been busy with those multiples. What a good feeling that must be to have used up all those bits and have such a large pile of cards for your stash. Love all the different leaves and cards, they are very special indeed xx
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy Darnell! I love the papers you used for the leaves in your pot - they were clearly waiting to be showcased on just such an occasion! Thanks for playing my theme challenge over at the Paper Players this week! P.S. those naughty people at Werthers - as if someone as eagle-eyed as you wouldn't notice!!
ReplyDeleteGoodness what a post full of leaf loveliness Sis! The colors on your pot of leaves are so pretty in unexpected light shades - and your plethora of leaf fragments cuts are gorgeous! I bought them last year but haven't used them yet this year - what's wrong with me? the snow will be flying soon and it will be too late...... xxx
ReplyDeleteHere I am, admiring your gorgeous cards and wowing over the gelato colors and patterned paper leaves... and then you go and say you made 29 of them! You are some kind of superwoman! Yup, that darn shrinkflation. Do they really think they're fooling us? Maybe some. We've been through this before, and I know I don't have to give you examples. I just shake my head.
ReplyDeleteDarnell, you have the patience only a grandmother could have! All those wonderful leaves - and ALL those cards! Way to go! I love them all and love that you shared with us at The Paper Players this week. As for the deviousness of the candy makers - eagle eye! I wouldn't have noticed, but think you are right.... the price will go up next month!
ReplyDeleteJaydee
Gorgeous cards Darnell! Thanks for joining us this week at The Paper Players!
ReplyDeleteOh these are gorgeous! What a great use of some much saved paper.
wonderful selection of fall leaves, love that TH holy nibbled leaf die♥
ReplyDeleteShrinkificaitons been going on for a while and makes me madder every time I find one :(
I just LOVE your basket of leaves! What a great idea to put them all in a basket and a great way to use up snippets! My goodness, all your cards look amazing - you've been busy! As for the candy, this is happening with everything! The boxes are the same size but the contents are shrinking while the prices are increasing at the same time. At least your candy is still available! Some of my favorites have vanished completely!
ReplyDeleteThese two leafy looks with the pretty pot of gorgeous leaves beautifully framed and then the delightful TH leaves used on the more than twenty cards (yes, I did try to count them..lol) you made with lots of wonderful pp's are absolutely fabulous Darnell, and you have been very busy..Hammy will be needing a lie down to recover! x
ReplyDeleteGosh Darnell you really have been busy! I just love all those gorgeous leaves!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful assortment of fall themed card, each one beautifully designed! I especially love how you layered all the pretty colored leaves on the first card!
ReplyDeleteI have totally noticed packages of all sorts of things have gotten smaller. Thought I was imagining it but here is proof. So sad and you are probably right that the price will increase despite the smaller size :(
Thanks so much for sharing this month at Four Seasons challenge!
Beautiful basket of flowers! And, all your cards are so beautiful with gorgeous color! Oh, I do love Werther's, too! Yes, so sneaky to have less in the bag and up the price! Ok, now I have to go get a Werther's, lol!! Have a great weekend, hugs!!
ReplyDeleteLovely leafs indeed! Fall is such a wonderful time -- cool nights, warm days and all those glorious fall colors. Your cards are perfect for this time of the year
ReplyDeleteI thought I had leaves all stitched up, I have so many dies, but these are fabulous. Love how you used the die. (Note to self - do not need more NBUS)
ReplyDeleteok so you are an enabler (as you know) - leaf dies ordered!
ReplyDeleteWow, you have made some great fall leaf cards. Beautiful, my friend. Hope you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! I'm speechless! But that may be because I'm trying to pick my jaw up from the floor!
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful cards, Darnell. I love all the fall leaves you made.
ReplyDeleteInflation scams work the same way around the world as you can see. Sad...
