Hello Stamplings!
How are you this fine Monday? I hope you had a nice weekend! I can tell a lot of you are on holiday this month because I can hear the crickets in the evening and normally the crafty chatter drowns them out. Wherever you are, have fun making memories!
For the rest of us, I have a few embossed designs to share with you for the third week of the I.D.E.A.S. schedule.
Onefer
This is an example of double-embossing. First, I used a regular (unmarked) embossing folder and then I ran that embossed panel through a second time using a 3D embossing folder. The NBUS 3D folder used here is "Leaf Bundle" from Simon Says. You might be able to see that Hammy and Stanley used a few of the leaves as scratching posts which left a bit of a distressed look here and there.
The beautiful Memory Box "Serene Bird" was cut using patterned paper. A gold-embossed sediment from Memory Box and gold bling finished the QACAS design.
Twofer
The embossing folder featured in this design is from Park Lane (Michael's) called, "Holly Berry." Stanley tried his luck at using a red pogo stick to highlight the berries! (Even Hammy had to admit that the youngster has agility and good eyesight on his side!)
Using a NBUS die from Spellbinders called, "Stylish Merry Christmas," I used the cut-out letters only for the bold sediment. I backed it with a candy cane striped vellum and then attached it to a card base.
Threefer
This design features a NBUS evergreen embossing folder from Simon Says called, "Delicate Pine Branches." For this card, I thought the debossed side of the branches looked more interesting.
I used the other portion of the "Stylish Merry Christmas" die, so you can see what the whole die looks like. This time, I cut it from a panel in my stash that was made by spritzing ink over an evergreen stencil. I left out the inside letters of the words. Next, I stamped off an evergreen stamp and stamped it lightly here and there over the panel. I lost the little paper piece that fit inside the R, so the lads searched through my bling and found a beautiful aquamarine bead.

Sturgeon Full Moon Tonight!
Other names for the Sturgeon Moon are "Dispute Moon," "Lynx Moon," "Lightning Moon," and "Grain Moon."
I'm not sure how that happens. The names seem so random and why are there so many? I picture a group of Almanac executives who hold their annual August conference in Tampa Bay. After dinner and a few too many tiddlies, they sit around the club house pool gazing up at the full moon and tossing around ideas for the next Almanac edition. "Goose!" "Ambush!" "Upholstery!"

A lovely variety of embossing details on these cards - clever little 'cover-up' for the missing piece of the 'R'. There must be a black hole somewhere for these pesky bits to disappear into, never to be seen again 😊
Wow someone has ben busy creating lovely cards. these are all lovely Darnell and each with a slightly different twist...Love the first one with your little bird. Like the red ad white on the second one ad the third one showcases that unusual sentiment so well. hugs xx

The leaf bundle is one of my favorite 3D embossing folders and I need to remember to use another with it next time because I love the look! The sweet bird looks quite happy on it too! I'm impressed with Stanley's pogo stick berries! Such a festive Merry Christmas card! Using the stencil for monoprinting on the background Merry Christmas die cut was so creative and the soft stamping of evergreen boughs over top is brilliant! Love those sage colors too!

I LOVE the first card with the double embossing. It adds so much to the background and creates a lovely place for your beautiful bird to perch. Fabulous Merry Christmas die that looks wonderful with the inside and outside cuts. The bead adds some sparkle!! :) xx

We'll be setting up the big guns among the cameras this evening to catch that moon of many monikers! [Though we've never caught one of those giant Sturgeons I won't complain - they are often bigger than our canoe!! YIKES!]

Great examples of using embossing folders! Love the double embossing - I've never tried that. And the holly, plus pogo stick berries plus candy cane vellum just makes me so happy. And then you do an about turn and go all artsy on the third one! Thanks for the educational notes about names for August's moon - I knew none of that!

What a great trio of embossed cards, Darnell. I am surprised at how well the double embossing held up and it does give extra dimension to the card.

Your double embossed cards are each so pretty and colorful but I'm partial to the Christmas version with the peppermint striped backing. Beautiful work on everything. I would imagine the assorted names for the Sturgeon moon (along with many other names) were fashioned in exactly the same manner you described. Bottoms up, next suggestion? LOL

Hi Darnell, joining you again just a little late but I'm still inspired to use your IDEAS prompt to inspire me to take time at my desk. You've been busy with three cards using dry and wet embossing and adding to your Christmas stash... all three cards are lovely and have me thinking about double embossing now... enjoy your day. ps here in Australia we know about blue moons - 2 full moons in a month, but you had me google this occurrence and it's all very interesting.
Gosh, I love all that embossing, and the bird is one of my favorites. Your pretty red and white Christmas card shows how good you are with those skinny sentiment dies. It would give me fits. I love it as a negative in the next card, too. The moon Monday night was very bright. It was supposed to be bigger, too, but I didn't notice.

Three absolute beauties for this week's theme Darnell, and love the double embossing on the first with those gorgeous leaves, and the blue bird looks so pretty cut from the pp. The two Christmas cards are wonderful too, and I love the holly embossing with some lovely red dots to highlight the berries, and the candy cane striped vellum look fabulous in the background, also the large 'Merry Christmas' really makes a statement. Then the shadow piece from the last card highlighted with some spritzed ink through a stencil goes brilliantly with the debossed pine branches in the background. I do have a card using this week's theme..rather late as usual! x
