Hello Stamplings!
I hope you are doing well! I'm sorry I wasn't here last Monday as planned. All of the week before, I had both computer woes and migraine woes. Layering that onto jet lag made things very, um, trying.
But it's all good and I got my cicada rhythm back, too. Wait. What? I think I mean Canadian. No, stop. It's circadian. What is? Nevermind.
Thanks to the Group of Seven Cardmakers, I managed to have some creative fun and I've lots of photos to share with you. For this month, we used our stencils and concentrated on making monoprints. The technique works best with open stencils which are inked using your choice of watercolor medium. After inking and spritzing, the stencil is flipped over onto watercolor paper as many times as the ink will last and gives you a useable image.
1.
I used a sunflower stencil from Technique Tuesday and Lindy Magicals.
For the technique reference, I should have first shown you this photo of all four of the monoprints I got.
And below are the other three cards I made:
2.
3.
I think you will enjoy trying this with your powdered inks, distress inks, watercolors, or sprays. For more incredible design inspiration, please check out the Go7 website where you will also find more instructions and video information! Group of Seven Cardmakers.
I went to clean off my stencil and when I started swiping with a baby wipe, I noticed a cool design was transferring onto my scratch paper. I stopped and grabbed three more panels of Tim Holtz watercolor paper and made these patterns, just swiping across the stencil with my baby wipe, cleaning more of the ink off each time:
I wasn't able to get a very good photo because it was evening, but in person each one is really cool. So cool that I didn't want to cover them up, so I made these very simple matted cards with foiled sediments which I've had in my stash:
5.
Such a fun bonus!
~~~
Enjoy your weekend! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!* Unless something unforeseen comes up, I hope to be back Monday with more stencil designs per my fifth Monday I.D.E.A.S. schedule. And I'm also hoping to finally share some of our vacation photos!
Thank you for your patience and your forgiveness for my lack of visiting. Next month is going to be another busy month with visitors first one week and then the next. And then it will be full on Christmas cards!
As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower!
produce some fabulous cards! Enjoy your visitors!
You had a ton of fun with this technique, and it shows! The first print with all of that fabulous Fall color wins my heart today, D - hope you're back on track now and have said goodbye to that migraine for the season!
=]
Lovely examples of the technique. I am so glad that you made them all into cards. When I do something like that I make 1 card and rest just sit around. Enjoy your visitors and stay well xx
OMG what an amazing collection of prints, I love what you did with all of them. I might have to pull out my very light ones and see if I can do something with them :)
Awesome post with all your amazing stencil monoprint cards, Dolly! LOVE this stencil and it's even more beautiful with Lindy's Magicals and with your talent!! Each of the monoprints is so pretty ... fabulous that you got four prints. And then to get more from wiping down your inky stencil. Your second set of cards is so pretty with the soft colours. Great work! xx
You really gave that stencil a workout, Darnell, and the resulting cards are so fun and colorful. Who would have thought just cleaning the stencil would give you even more inky backgrounds? I hope I have a stencil that will work well with the technique.
You HAVE been busy getting inky, Darnell. A fabulous collection of cards.
Liz xx
You got so many good cards from that inking with this wonderful stencil, Dolly! Love the fall colors and I'm amazed at the number of backgrounds you got! So glad you are back and rested from your trip.
Glad you're feeling better, Darnell - we missed you!! Gorgeous monoprints & wipe-off prints - love the autumn vibes!!
Well, you certainly made wonderful use of all the sunflower monoprints that you made Darnell, and the designs are all brilliant with some lovely added sentiment and using the different coloured card, including the sweet butterflies and added bright background. x
Wow, you went to town on these and all the designs are lovely. Great technique and a great way to make a lot of backgrounds at once. Thanks for joining us at cardz4galz, Johanna DT
You aced this project, Darnell! You've managed to make a whole team of beautiful cards with your awesome technique. I've heard the Lindy's are amazing -- any comparison that you know of to Brushos, in preference?
Wow! I'd say you're monoprint prolific! That's an awesome set of cards you made. I have lots of stencils, so I'll have to give that a try. Thanks, as always, for the inspiration.
Wow you got lots of bonus prints from that fun exercise, great cards! Thanks for sharing the pics, it’s useful to see the effects xxx
That is a great technique you have used Darnell and the sunflower stencils totally gorgeous as always they are an inspiration and make great backgrounds for any card, pleased your feeling better enjoy your day x
That looks like a fun technique and you obviously had lots of fun creating with it too in making so many pretty cards. I'm going to have to root through my stencils and give this a try.
Beautiful cards! I love this technique but I call it stamping with a stencil as I use my ink pads and stamp everywhere, spray it with water and flip it over, press down with a cloth and wallah. I will give your technique a try with watercolors. Thanks for sharing at Beautiful Blossoms. Good luck!
What a lovely assortment of autumn cards, Darnell! Your extra baby wipe cards are oodles of fun. Hope those migraines stay away!
Awesome technique and cards, looking forward to trying this!
They are all so pretty, Darnell xoxo
Oh, my goodness, I love every one of these artsy prints, and the third monoprint is definitely not the least. It may even be my favorite. But then you discovered a whole new technique resulting from the cleaning of the monoprints and they look amazing, too! Darnell, I'm sorry about your various woes, but glad you feel better just in time to start another round of visiting.
WOWZA! How creative Darnell and very artzy!! Very clever technique! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Triple B challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often.
