Embossing Day!

Hello Stamplings!

Howze you doing? On this part of the globe, we are in that middle-of-February sick-of-winter time with its freezing boring cold and gloomy dumpy doom. To combat this, we make cheery cards!

It's Embossing Day at Chez I.D.E.A.S. That reminds me of the old-timey, "Wash on Monday, Iron on Tuesday, etc." schedule which described the lives of wives from Victorian times until, well, our time. I'm grateful for all the modern conveniences and inventions which allow me to spend my days using my new-timey hobby schedule to make crafty things!

Onefer
The first NBUS product I am featuring is, "Cheerful Floral" by Memory Box which comes with stamps, dies, 3D embossing folder, and stencil. I didn't notice until this minute that there is also a separate die for the center blossom, so you could make it, what, 4D? I mean, if the embossing folder is 3D? Anyway, next time. I painted the bouquet with my Ziggies, painting all the flowers in different shades of CP pinks, per The Flower Challenge.

The process is pretty self-exploratory, except to say that I used a heavier hand when blending the same color of ink in order to create some shading on the flowers and leaves, rather using than the stencil bits provided. I'm sorry you can't see that the lads liberally winked all the bits. After wards, I added a diluted schplash of squash white. And the background panel was embossed with SU's Subtle e/f.

Playing in:

Addicted to Stamps and More ~ make your mark.
The Flower Challenge ~ feature the colour pink.
Seize the Birthday ~ A/G option.

Twofer
The NBUS product on this card is another 3D e/f from Memory Box. This one is called, "Snowy Forest." I simply used my brayer to apply Versamark to the raised bits and then heat-embossed the panel in silver e/p.

(I didn't want all that powder on the sky part, but after I tried applying the Versamark directly to the folder [and getting it on the sky part], and after I then tried swiping the Versamark directly to the embossed white card [and getting it on the sky part]), I just decided not to fight it.)

Playing in:

Krafty Chicks ~ Christmas.
Little Red Wagon ~ red alert.
52 Christmas Card Throwdown ~ masculine Christmas.

~~~
Sing it with me!
Uh-huh.
Monday – Wash Day!
Tuesday – Ironing Day!
Wednesday – Market Day!
Thursday – Cleaning Day!
Friday  – Bake Day!
Saturday – Fun Day!
Sunday – Rest Day!
Everybody happy?
Well I should say!
~~~

Enjoy your week! No, seriously, enjoy! LITS!*

As always, thank you for coming by to visit the Playhouse and special thanks to you if you take the time to join as a follower!

*Life is too short!

I have to say that I'm sick and tired of winter and low temperatures. I want spring! :-) Finally I managed to visit you. And to see your wonderful work. I like floral card. Great stamp, die, embossing and stencil set. It is smart to make Christmas cards during the year. The silver winter wonderland is just great.
Hugs, Sonja

Gorgeous 3D floral spray on card one & the "subtle" texture is a fave of mine, Darnell - love this! Card two is fabulous with the silver forest too!! If Monday is wash day - I'm behind; that's chorus day for me :)

I'm loving these gorgeous flowers Darnell, and the Subtle EF background works brilliantly, then the totally different use of embossing with this terrific Christmas creation using this very pretty tree EF and the silver embossing looks wonderful, and the bits that stuck to the background sky just add to the beautiful finished look, and the large red 'Merry Christmas' is the perfect finishing touch. x

Two lovely cards for embossed day. Pretty flowers that sparkle and speaking of sparkle, the second card outdid itself. Wow, I needed sunglasses to view it! I couldn't keep up with that housewife schedule. I have dirty clothes everyday and never iron. Don't always bake either. I like the fun and rest days, although I do those on the wrong days from the schedule.

Two fab cards, the floral is so pretty. Love your comment about each day having it's own job, very true in my youth but what I remember most was that we ALWAYS had the same thing or similar on the same day of the week. Roast on Sunday, leftovers on Monday (as it was washing day!) meat pie on Tuesday, hash or stew on Wednesday, Liver on Thursday and usually fish and chips on Friday. Can't for the life of me remember what Saturday's lunch delights were but we did have tripe with lashings of vinegar with bread and butter after we'd been to the market to get the joint for Sunday!! :)

Your embossed and Ziggied bouquet of various pinks is absolutely lovely, Darnell, and I'm glad you shared it with us at The Flower Challenge. The embossed embossing looks very frigid and Christmasy in silver.

You mean the sun doesn't always shine in California? I am definitely in the sick of winter time. It looks like it might warm up a bit here this week, but that warmth is going to bring wind and rain with it! I love your bouquet so pretty and beautifully coloured. I completely understand the issue with the versamark too. I am glad you went with it in the end because the shine in the middle is really rather lovely xx

I particularly love your Christmas card! Hugs to you.

Your flowers are so pretty. I hope they are an omen for warm weather spreading from California to the Mississippi (that way we'll get some of it here in Minneapolis). I need me some warmth! We're having double digits below zero in these northern parts and I'm downright sick of it! The trees in your Christmas card look exactly how I feel (icy cold and stiff), but prettier. I wonder if leaving your panel in the embossing folder while you brayered on the Versamark would help keep the ep off the sky part. Maybe worth a try.

Your blooms that you zigified in all the pink shades is SO pretty Darnell...it's a real stand out card! I love your Christmas card too...all that silver makes it extra special!! Thanks so much for sharing with us at The Flower Challenge, and hang in there...winter doom and gloom can't last forever! Right?!! RIGHT!! I am seriously thinking about becoming a bear and hibernating all next Winter...I'm just too old for this crap! Hugs. :0)

Your pink flowers are as pretty as can be, Darnell! Great job with your Christmas card, frosty sky or not! It looks like my neck of the woods right now. 7" of snow and a frosty wind... brrr!

Fabulous cards! I especially love the embossing - so shiny and lovely! Thanks for joining us at Little Red Wagon.

What a pretty set of embossing folder/cutting dies/and stamp for your first card! I like the idea of the extra die to pop up the center flower, too. Yes, next time. I'm intrigued by your background panel. I can clearly see the Subtle embossing, but there's something about the color I especially love. Your Christmas card with the silver embossing is quite striking! I thought at first it was a stencil and silvery embossing paste, but then I remembered it's embossing day, duh. No problem with the silvery center. It still looks amazing!

I love the colouring on your first card today, Darnell, and thank you for enabling me again - I didn't know that Memory Box does bundles like this so I'm off to browse.
The silver embossing on the second card is so beautiful and gives me a wintry shiver.
Hope you are well,
Hugs

That winter card is so beautiful with the silver embossing - it looks so chilly and icy, just like the weather Vancouver had for the last two weeks (it was so icy out there I took my life in my hands every time Tessa and I went out for our walks). So I should just gaze on your lovely flowers on the first card and dream of summer and being out in my garden with not a speck of ice in sight!

Yep! Sick of winter this side of the pond too. Ah! Those gotta do it today days. Thankfully, modern appliances make it, so we have time for lovely things too. As your beautiful cards show us. Love the flowers and beautiful shades you used. The silver card is wonderful, I think the silver is great, then the red sentiment, just perfect. x

Fabulous cards Darnell and I love the idea of brayering with embossing ink, never thought of that!! The rain has come back over here but at least it's not so cold xx

What a beautiful bouquet, Dolly! So beautifully colored and I love the extra texture of the embossing! Not too much schparkly silver on the second card. It's perfect and fit for a king or a prince, or a queen, or any special person!
