I hope you are well, wherever you are! We've whooshed around the week again really, really fast! This is week two of March, which means the I.D.E.A.S. Calendar is D = Dies. We all have them, love them, and use them!

As often happens with my designs, this one is simples and self-exploratory. But I thought I would share what schparked the steps involved in building my design for anyone who needs a boost out of their creative ennui. Sometimes we just don't know where to start. You know, like when cleaning closets.😶
I originally picked out a different NBUS die that I wanted to use for this week's I.D.E.A.S. Calendar, but when I saw The Flower Challenge, I sent the lads pawing through my NBUS flower dies instead and they surfaced with this perfect springtime "Layered Tulip Die" from Waffle Flower.
When I laid out the tulip pieces over the vellum with the gold circles, we all went into gold overload. Then I tried it on the silver circles and we loved how well they played with each other.
Next, I needed a sediment and I checked out my challenges list again. Just Us Girls also has die-cuts for their brief this week, with the additional requirement that it be a birthday card. Next, I went to Seize the Birthday to check out their latest challenge. They want designs with no stamping. To play in both challenges, I chose my old classic "celebrate" die. And wallah, done!

This little number was QACAS and needs no walk-through. Well, I take that QACAS back. It's QAS, but not 'clean' by Clean and Simple standards because there is no white or clear space. So, hmmm, let's call it QABAS then, with a B for Busy!
The NBUS items are both the "Snowflake Background" from Poppystamps and the sediment from SSS's set called, "Holiday Greetings Mix I." The background is a textured piece of green paper. I added more texture to it with a snowy e/f from Taylored Expressions called, "Snowfall."

You certainly went for gold on the first card and yes, it does look good with the silver circles on the background. Great snowflake card too.

I'm almost as excited to see your photograph of the crocus as I am to see your two lovely cards! I have a post today playing along with the same three challenges! I love how they all seemed to work together. The Snippets Challenge is a new one to me. Already went off to check it out. I have two boxes of snippets filed by kind in envelopes. I'd toss the whole mess, but I actually use them frequently! I also need help with QACAS . . . I've got the CAS down, but am unfamiliar with the QA part. I'll probably go "duh" when you explain it to me, but I can't come up with it right now. Thanks, as always, for a bright spot on my Monday morning reading!

I'll be humming the Christmas song Silver and Gold the rest of the day, Dolly! Love those gold tulips with the silver dots! So elegant!!! The snowfall is a great die and I love the texture behind it and the graceful font of the sentiment! You and the boys did great!

Your golden tulip was just the inspiration (and reminder) I needed to make a 50th anniversary card! It's beautiful, as is your Christmas card. I'll try to get my cards made forthwith (love that word!) and post them on your blog.
Blinded here! The sun is shining through the window onto the computer screen so your tulips are extra sparkly. The snowflake card is peaceful, like sitting inside watching the big snowflakes outside.

When I saw your green and white card in the Color Hues gallery, I thought, oh no...Darnell is slipping backwards and not springing ahead for Spring! But no worries...after clicking the link to your post and the beautiful gold and silver tulips, I'm less worried about the snowflakes! Both cards are absolutely beautiful my friend and work so perfectly for both The Flower Challenge and the Color Hues challenge! Two terrific cards for the challenges, and I love your meanderings to get to such great cards! I unfortunately, start meandering and forget where I was going... sometimes I end back up and cardmaking, but other times?...
SOOOOO very glad the boys found that amazing tulip die... that is one stunning (and schparkly) card Darnell , and the silver circles are perfect with the gold.
As for your snowy card - well done, that is also stunning, but in a slightly more subdued way :)

Wow Darnell, the first is very glitzy with the gold die cut tulips and that wonderful vellum with the silver circles which goes so well, and then the green snowfall embossed background goes beautifully with the white snowflakes, and the sentiment looks great on a strip across the card..brilliant makes! I have added my card to the Linky, but to be honest it was supposed to be for last week but I was too late finishing it, and I wasn't sure about entering it this week as the dies are not the main event, but after your lovely comment on it I have now added it in. x
Look at you already working on Christmas cards. The green was a perfect backdrop to your snowflakes along with the matching sentiment. As for your card for STB, the silver and gold work so well together. I too have some of that SU paper that I have had for eons. I really love the gold Tulips. So glad you went with the silver dotty vellum background as I love seeing gold and silver together! Such a beautiful tulip die! And your snowflake card is fabulous with the textured background and the peaceful sentiment breaking up the panel of snowflakes.

Gosh, I just saw these tulips on Michele's blog and now here they are looking entirely different and totally spectacular! Yup, that's some gold, alright, and I love it with the silver. Looks like a celebration for sure! Your Christmas card fits QAS in my book, and I'm sure I could make it a lot more busy, ha! One more done for Christmas. I need to get busy with that.
Hi Darnell.... isn't it crazy how one can have so much stuff and not be inspired and then it seems to be for me to go to my old favourites and totally overlook all those other wonderful stamps and dies and inks etc I have... so I am forever thankful for your Weekly prompts with IDEAS.. thank you, AND your amusing posts and wonderful cards are a great boost for me too, hugs Robyn
